North Korea are planning their third nuclear weapons test. North Korea are saying that their missiles are aimed at the United States, their "arch enemy". It seems like the most aggressive rhetoric we've had from North Korea in awhile, and since Kim Jong Un took over as dictator there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21175466 Nobody reckons that their missiles can reach CONUS, so you don't need to be losing any sleep.
North Korea is a fascinating country. I still see the peninsula being reunited within a couple of decades. I believe their sabre rattling has served them well thus far.
Here's the story from The New York Times. North Korea knows that that move would not turn out well for them. Luckily for us, they have a long history of having a larger bark than their bite or at least no real control of their missiles. When I was over there they threw one at Japan, hitting nothing fortunately. I don't really care, I just feel sorry for the people of North Korea. I hope they can rejoin the rest of the world someday. I hope the DMZ will disappear, but not at the expense of the South Koreans, and the Republic of Korea.
I'd say we should just overthrow the regime, treat them as a terrorist state - I don't trust them, rather not wait till they do commit an atrocity.
But if you play with North Korea aren't you also playing with China? And it would seem that North Korea is also slowly coming round?
I'd say we should just overthrow the US regime, treat them as a terrorist state - I don't trust them, rather not wait till they commit any more atrocites Kim Jung Un
N Korea didn't say that. They never did. Every time N Korea decides to test one of their nukes, the same way we test our nukes, it's not a death threat against the US. I don't understand the extreme paranoia of American citizens. Yes, a lot of people may hate us, and likely them getting nukes in the first place is to prevent themselves from becoming victims as well, but that certainly doesn't mean they are going to use them against is. If you haven't noticed, you don't need to do much to have the US deliver an invasion force at your front door. .
Sorry I should be more clear.. Their nuclear tests and rocket launches are aimed at the US.. Or I'll just show the quote and people can decide for themselves what they mean: "We do not hide that the various satellites and long-range rockets we will continue to launch, as well as the high-level nuclear test we will proceed with, are aimed at our arch-enemy, the United States..."
Of course getting nukes works as a deterrent, and I suspect this is why Iran are working around the clock to get a nuke, because if they don't get a nuclear deterrent and fast, they will be invaded and taken over by NATO who are on the verge of invading once Syria falls. Also I never suggested for anyone to worry or be paranoid or suggest NK would nuke the US, I actually said the opposite, that we needn't lose any sleep. When was the last time USA did a nuclear weapons test?
Apologies. Jumped to conclusions... I don't agree with all of Iran's policies, but I do admire their ability to stand up for themselves when all the other nations around them have either rolled over or been invaded. If you can imagine their situation, it's not too dissimilar from ours during the Revolution. Stand up for yourself and don't bow down to pressure or be the b*tch of another country for another century or so. The US doesn't advertise it's nuclear tests, and it certainly doesn't get any media coverage these days. I know they tested one last year, but I forgot where and it's hard to look up.
North Korea is all talk they wouldn't fly a kite over the USA. They are so poor if it came to war their soldiers will die quicker from hunger than missile strikes. Their rhetoric is just for home consumption. Even a Country like Ghana has 3 x GDP as the North. Yes they have a few missiles but I doubt it if they will have enough fuel to even fight a war for a week.
Kim Won’t Talk on N. Korea’s Nuclear Arms, DIA Chief Says Dictator Kim Jong Un, “firmly in control” of the North Korean regime, isn’t ready to negotiate about ending his nuclear and missile programs, according to the top U.S. military intelligence official. North Korea is “no longer willing to negotiate over eliminating its nuclear and ballistic missile programs,” Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said in testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-...-remove-nuclear-arms-before-any-dialogue.html
