You give up all hope of a better afterlife when you become a liberal Democrat.

So this life is all you will have, and you will experience nothing better.

I do not think you will experience flames and torment, nothing that simple.

You will merely experience separation from God, the separation you decided for yourself when you rejected Him and all his Commandments.

Hell for you will be much like this life.

You will have your own home, you will still go to work, you will still read the newspapers and watch TV.

But one thing will be missing from all that: hope.

You will not have any hope of anything better than the struggles and toils of this world we live in.

You will live forever in a land where people live day after day without any purpose to it.

And there will be no escape, and no ending to it.

You will live in a world completely without God, which is where you live now, only your choice will be made permanent.

This is a warning, but you will not heed it.

Seems like you give up hope of a better afterlife for other people that doesn’t affect their fates or what they hope for at all

Jimmy Carter is of a previous generation, Democrats who are Christian.

But the modern Democrat party has no truck with God. The Democrats booed God at their convention. So its official, if you are Democrat you are officially anti-God.

Meh... I'm a classical liberal of sorts and not a big fan of the Democratic Party. Yet I agree this is the only life I will have. An afterlife seems quite unlikely, and if there is one I seriously doubt it will have much if anything in common with what is described by any Abrahamic faith. Go ahead and believe if you want, but I am not a superstitious man.

God showed up at the DNC? Really? And the MSM didn't even report the incident.

I thought God was a Libertarian. She's the one who gave us our rights that the government is supposed to be protecting, isn't she?

For those who reject God, death is a terminus, the end of the line. Its where the train stops, and after that, there is simply a lack of existence.

I wonder how people cope with that eternal emptiness that yawns in the face of the non-believer.

Is there fear? Is there dread?

Do atheists have nightmares of the nothingness to come?

    I do not know.

I don't see why those two concepts are necessarily mutually exclusive.

Which God are you referring too?

You know that Christianity is ripped off of Sumarian text don't you?

The time will come, and not in the distant future, when it won't be quite legal to be a practicing Christian.

And it is already true that Christians are forced to buy health insurance that includes birth control and abortifacients.

And in the military, priests and ministers who refuse to perform same-sex weddings will be dismissed from their posts as chaplains.

And churches who refuse to perform same-sex weddings will eventually lose their tax-free status.

And then the day will come when the government closes the doors of all churches that refuse to recognize same-sex marriage.

And don't bother to deny any of this liberals, because I know this is what you plan to do.

The Libertarian party is in worse shape then the GOP is at this point.

Gary Johnson left a horrible taste in many people's mouths with his complete open border stance.

The inroads they gained with Paul have effectively been destroyed, they need a new leader in a bad way.

There is some degree of fear and dread for a bloke like me, sure. Then again, there's a bit of fear and dread for all sorts of things. Life isn't always fair. For me at least the prospect of nothingness is compelling - it really makes me want to make this short time I've got worth something. Give back to the community, help the weak... do things to improve the lives of others without neglecting to tend to ones desires and aspirations along the way. So I read, write, counsel, volunteer, dabble in the arts, partake in service-oriented work, and gradually build up the kind of character that will be worthy of remembrance in the highest and warmest of regards.

Now why would an omniscient, benevolent God punish or discriminate against those who in life lacked baseless faith in an unknowable set of supernatural claims? There are exceptionally persuasive conditions under which I would gladly convert. All I have done is pose the question, "Why?" in response to being asked to believe. With all due respect, I see nothing unreasonable about being an atheist - especially of an agnostic inclination - when there does not appear to be any solid evidence to contradict or refute those views.

Are you taking any bets on those predictions?

The birth control one is already toast:

Recouping health costs by preventing birth is in the long run a self-defeating strategy for any society. Who will support the elderly when so many of the young have been prevented? In Japan, rapid depopulation is already approaching a crisis. Entire villages have been abandoned, and monkeys now live in houses where people used to.

I was responding to this statement:

Saving money by preventing birth is, in the long run, a suicidal strategy for any society.

Answered by Paul in the Acts of the Apostles: Those who lived in the days of ignorance will be excused.

But the days of ignorance are long in the past, at least here in America.

Christianity is all around us. There is no one ignorant of its teachings in America.

There is no one in this country who can claim they have never heard of Jesus Christ.

Your argument of false equivalence is fallacious. Mohammed does not have any recorded miracles to back up his claim to be a prophet of God. And by the standard Christ taught us, to judge a prophet by his works, it is easy to judge Mohammed as a false prophet who teaches an untrue religion.

    pretty much

The same way that we coped with the eternal emptiness that existed before we were born. This existence is all we have, we need to make the most of it. The only immortality we get is in how people remember us after we are gone.

Not for me, nor for most other atheists I know. If you are interested in how atheists think check out the atheist forums at the CARM website. (google it) There is a large contingent of atheists who post there and discuss their views with the Theists. I posted there for years (before I got permabanned late last year). The site is moderated and run by extreme Calvinists who tolerate the Atheists because they think that by exposing the Christians who post there, that they will be better able to debate them in real life.

    Nope, not at all.

I joined an atheist forum because I wanted to talk to them but they were so incredibly rude and foul-mouthed that I was driven away.

And I told them they were driving me away with their rudeness and foul-mouthedness, and their response was they didn't care.
