Well, sis, mainly I think you need to take a few pix and post 'em up so I know what I'm talking about.

Generally, I'd say take it out of the dirt, clear away the dirt from the roots ...
Start looking for mushy stuff - cut it off.
Work from the trunk up. This will answer your question "is the trunk dead?"
When you get all of your viable pieces, wash away the dirt, sprinkle with cinnamon to kill fungus and set aside to dry.
Wait a week and then pot 'em up.
Use new, fresh cactus soil. In Yankee world, I'd add extra grit (perlite if nothing else but there are much better grits).
If you're reusing any pots, make sure you bleach them and set them in the sun to kill fungus first.
When you repot - do not water!!! They already have water, and no roots means they'll only rot.
Give it a month before even a "tug test" for roots.
No extended direct light this year.

Now Fa, you cannot take a wait and see approach.
If there is rot in the trunk it will only continue up the plant until it dies.
    Rot waits for no one.
So find yourself a piece of carpet.
(Also .. having heavy gloves and salad tongs on hand is handy.)
Place the carpet side against the spines, and wrap 'er up.
One of you hold the plant, the other can work the pot off the plant.
Sure hope you're in terra cotta, after 25 yrs, you may have to destroy the pot.

Need pix ... will be bahk ...

need to see those junctions, but I'm thinking above (if necessary).
As for the cinnamon ... it doesn't matter "how", just get a coat of cinnamon on fresh cuts to stop fungus growth.

You know Gypz, I was baking brownies non stop, had to eat most of them myself, because all the others are more into booze'n such, and all it took for you to say hello is a stinking rotten cactus?
    Say it isn't so.

    Hahahaha! Hi Smarts!

Gawd, I'm glad to know you're okay. I was about to exhaust all my Texas stuff trying to draw you in. ;)

I trust all is well for you, and that you have a nice evening!

Have you had contact with Kimi by chance? It's been quiet a while since she had been here. Hope all is okay.

I love that little picture (Italy/Texas)

I'm curious if any of you guys have/are using, television and Internet service from AT&T (AT&T U-verse)?

Fiber optic service is available in my neighborhood, and I am considering making some changes. I'm currently served by cable. Television service is reliable (for the most part), and internet speeds are more than enough for my home use. Consistently in the 20 MB down, 5 MB upload range.

I'm just aggravated with the hassle of dealing with unannounced rising cost, at what seems like every couple months or so. It's always frustrating dealing/speaking with Customer Service, to even ask a simple question. It's almost as if the cable company feel they have customers over a barrel. Honestly speaking, for me, it is not a matter of paying the rising monetary increases (I've grown to expect that, unfortunately), rather, it's the feeling of dealing with incompetent customer service, coupled with a negative attitude.

I fully understand that "customer service," in general terms, has declined. I equally understand things may be no different with AT&T, hence asking for your opinions.

To make the switch, the package I'm considering has a bit lower Internet DL speed 12 MB, although UL is advertised as higher, at 10 MB, or I should say 'up to' 10 MB.

*That "up to" can be tricky.*

Anyway, if one of you guys have the service, and would like to share your experience/thoughts of it, primarily reliability, consistency of internet speed and customer service, I would certainly appreciate your candid opinion.

I use AT&T DSL. No problems. And I have had consistently good customer service when necessary (which I cannot say the same for TWC). I'd never go back to cable, based first on their attitudes, and second, the internet service is sufficient (until google fiber hits us next year), and third, the quality of Directv over cable packages and pricing.

Thank you Gypzy, I appreciate the feedback.

It's encouraging to read that you are pleased with their Customer Service Dept.. That is really the main issue for me.

I understand that standard DSL is much slower than what I have now, fortunately, if I make the switch, it will be to their fiber optic service. As you already know, the speeds on fiber are comparable to cable. You should really enjoy it, once it's in your area. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, maybe it'll get to you before next year. **smile**

Again, thank you for taking the time to comment.

Why is it that women seem to be able to acquire and posses much better "client relations" skills, when the guy has a petty cash fund for that purpose?

It may only be a good thing since I am holding out for nice girls of morals who are willing to fornicate me into relationships, simply for the sake of true witness bearing as a moral and form of honesty and respect toward fellow human beings.

Where o' where have all the nice girls of morals gone in modern times.

A reminder for anyone reading, that may be a T-Mobile customer.

On June 30th, you will no longer have access to T-Mobile Photo Album. If you have photos stored there, that you wish to keep, you should retrieve and store them elsewhere, now.

**After storing copies elsewhere, delete all photos in the album. After June 30th., they are no longer your property/photos, but become the property of T-Mobile.**

I suggest additionally, to download a copy onto a flash drive. Inexpensive and secure.
