If you understand how to access a person's bio or website, you would know I'm a dude.

Since when does self-defense equate to being conservative? I made no assertion that it was designed for citizen automobile traffic or otherwise. The interstate was an infrastructure enhancement. Regardless of origin or intent, it added to the country's infrastructure.

Unneeded with air power. The Iowa decommissioned in 1990. Wisconsin decommissioned in 1991. New Jersey decommissioned 1991. If their importance was that great, why did the Navy mothball them that soon?

Yeah, conservatism cannot vanish. However, the political aspects... the ideology has to get more progressive or move to the left. There's nowhere to go to the right. You've got the RNC chairman issuing an autopsy after the 2012 election. They still cannot figure out how to win as demographics change. But you have an uneducated Tea Party threatening the overall party, forcing people like Sen. Grassley to lose his mind and go Bachmann crazy. There's a serious problem here. You have to move left and adopt gay marriage, reintroduce the voting rights act that was foolishly brought to the USSC by Shelby Co. Alabama. Abandon the abortion thing. Abandon the "small government" that not one person can explain to me actually is. Get off the stupid and antiquated states rights thing. Quit with the "too much spending" thing... you people decided to run 2 wars an hand out a tax cut. That's stupid and ruined the economy. There's a lot to cure and heal.

Conservatives will die because of one reason alone. The Hispanic voter. All White children under the age of 5 are already a minority. The combination of Blacks, Hispanics and Asians will outnumber Whites. With Hispanics being the largest of these groups.

Hispanics don't share American values. Their values are the values of Latin America. There are no Conservatives nations south of the border. The Anglo Saxon Protestant work ethic free market ideals as practiced by Americans and Brits are dead. Want to know what America will look like in 20 years. Just look at Latin America.

Well you can call them Dixecrats but you have no idea of that history and who belonged to that actual one year party.

Wrong. We are a Social Democracy using aspects of both socialism and capitalism. We utilize socialism within government to assist the people and have since the 1930s. We are currently enhancing our Social Democracy. Capitalism demands a hand-off by the government. This cannot exist in a global economy. It's prone to failure. Capitalism does not exist just like communism does not exist.

Of course, the larger the population, the higher the crime rate per capita.

Before socialism? You wrote above that we're a capitalist country. Really. Quality going down? Why are there just a few private colleges that are Research 1 and a lot of public universities that are Research 1 institutions? And having never attended college, you wouldn't know about that status.

And you never said where you live. Are you afraid? Paranoid? We have enough museums for the population. How many do we have, genius?

You made a statement about Tallahassee schools, I replied and nothing from you. I see.

Odd how Republicans have denied more funds for the VA and modernizing Walter Reed.

And I never claimed Flint or Detroit were doing well.

Don't complain. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. 50% my @ss. You don't pay that much in taxes. And, why not vote Democrat and have Mitt Romney et al pay their taxes thus reducing yours. How smart is it to support a party that wants to tax common people and give the upper 2% a break. You must be within that 2% and then you should not bellyache about 50%

So you have not created any jobs? Me, a lowely Social Democrat started a business in 2011 and it's growing. Imagine that.

The term is somewhat new even though super powers have existed. One might gauge Rome or Greece on inventions and art. Currently, I think a super power should include education. In which case, we are not. Northern Europe contains super powers based on education and quality of life. Are we a super power? We need a foe and with a global economy, safety is insured. No countries, no industrialized countries will go to war. Not one single country wants to lose commerce. Commerce is success and insurance from war.

You never were a lefty, just confused. It's like gay or straight. You are one or the other. If you had to jump to one from another, your IQ is low. You are uncertain of yourself.

To avoid paying workers a good salary. Just that simple. Unions guaranteed wages at X but management likes that short-term gain. Just how patriotic is it to pay Americans less than what is fair? Do the CEOs cut their pay? I find trying to push Americans into a position to make less in wages is really un-Amercan. For Mitt Romney to hide money off-shore to escape paying taxes to the country which afforded him the luxury of becoming wealthy... immoral, un-patrotc, un-American. It's placing this country's security at risk.

Really? Police and fire depts are government programs? Highways are government programs? Public housing sucks. Beats being homeless. There are remedies for public housing but that would be anti-conservative. You hate public housing but can't think of a way to repair these problems.

What data? Cite that. I can remember Clinton getting 100,000 more police officers. You have to be soft on crime as a conservative as you do not want to pay for security (police) and therefore crime will increase.

We want $ for infrastructure now but Republicans kill it.

Keystone is not needed and only ships oil off-shore. Rail lines? We are equivalent to Bolivia in rail. We need high speed rail for jobs and to transport people quickly and cleanly. We are an embarrassment to the world and we should be leading.

Too busy for the rest of your post, but do you know what per capita means? Maybe check it out, redo your post, and I will reply and point all the other areas you are wrong.

Hahaha because it is a nationalized service and already loses a fortune. High speed rail won't get people to work here, we have cars. Did you see where high speed rail line designs plan to drop people off?

Before rails were nationalized private industry laid tons of tracks. Rail is the worst example you can use. Roads are better, they were nationalized before cars so you don't have a competing example to compare. Except foreign countries that build tons of private roads for less.

You're the uneducated one. Two cities could have 4 million and have different numbers, i.e. homeless, vets, current military, Asian students.... all measured by x per 100. I'm just willing to bet Pensacola has more military or ex-military per capita than Tallahassee. I'm just guessing Copenhagen, Denmark has less Latino people per capita than the U.S. It appears you have no clue.

Well said. It's amazing to witness liberal elite wannabes cheering on the demographics of the US simply because it means the Democrat Party will stay in power. The US can turn into a 3rd world Guatemalan trash heap, and all they care about is dictating who separates the plastic and who who crushes the aluminum.

Well I wouldn't know since I don't know where your "here" is. You are too paranoid to divulge that info. Drop off people? Which state?

    Really? Wow.
Roads nationalized before cars? In what context?

And what countries build private roads? Name them.

Florida, that flag doesn't look familiar to you huh? Treasure Coast, you know, where there is sun and water. Not lower Georgia.

Tell me about it. Private rail added more track in its short time then in the hundred something years since nationalization. And they didnt even have tractors or cranes back then .

The government gets gasoline taxes for road building and doesn't pay it out to private citizens for road building like the chinese do. You pay twice for toll roads etc..

China, Hong Kong. Their private industry builds more roads then we do. They recently built an interstate highway system much larger then ours. Here you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expressways_of_China You can google more, that is the first result.

No, you don't know what per capita means, and now you are trying to backtrack. When your crime rate per capita is high, that means your city is run poorly, not because it is big. NY is a big city, look at per capita crime rates after Republican Guliani got in there and cleaned it up. Now compare NY per capita to Detroit per capita. Or Flint. Or Riviera Beach, or Tallahassee.

It's very strange and incorrect to apply conservative or progressive to reading blue prints, machining parts, or following detailed instructions. You are detail and methodically oriented while your co-workers are not progressive, just careless, sloppy workers. I surely did not apply conservative or progressive measures in college. Just accurate measures.Your are confusing caution and double-checking with conservatism and progressive with reckless abandon. That is incorrect.

as in aprupt and sudden change? No, not really.

I don't in this case care what you believe, I'm wondering how you can say that out of all possible directions, yours is forward? The thing is that all ideologies, except those who specifically want to go backwards, believe they are going forward. if we started out with universal healthcare, would it be progressive to go for private?

You're assuming that forward is universally in the direction of democracy and human rights, that's not true at all. ANd what I meant is that conservatives are dependant on what's already eastablished. Thus the conservatives during the revolution would prefer the eastablished rule of the british empire, but the later ones would prefer the established american republicanism. The move from british rule to republicanism was progressive, tho I wouldn't use just that word for it. But later that progressive became the eastablished, and thus conservate.

Yes, the bible supported slavery and abolishing it at the same time. It's a book of many contradictions you know, it can justify whatever one want it to justify.

hmm? I guess they react fast because their mindset offers a quick answer to every question about change: Do we need to change it? and if we should let's do it slowly and calmly.

you're doing it agian. Don't you think hitlet thought he was moving forward, to the glorious national socialist future? I guess it's very obvious to you, since you're a leftist, that forward is to the left (haha pun) but using forward, and thus progressive, as terms in politics is meaningless because there isn't a clear and agreed upon forward. It's akin to calling an ideology the 'common sense way' or something like that.

Ronald Reagan (1981-1989): Reagan stared down the Soviet Union, bringing the Cold War to an end at long last. He championed free markets and limited government, and his across-the-board tax cuts breathed new life into a faltering economy. The Gipper’s constant reminder that the United States was a “shining city on a hill” gave rebirth to the notion of American exceptionalism.

Quite possibly the last of the rational conservatives, and much of his contribution is still in play. Unfortunately, he would not be considered conservative by todays Republican party.....any more than I consider todays Republicans conservative.

All I can say is that in the U.S., that is considered what progressive means. Even conservatives desire to use it in that manner as it establishes a basic difference between left and right. We can debate semantics all day long and attempt to arrive at the meaning of what the word "the" means and it has actually happened in a court of law. So, we choose to use the familiar rather than philosophical.

So progressive is defined as wanting to move towards democracy and human rights, and conservatism is simply holding that back? Well, no wonder you're a progressive then, if that's how you think things are. Also, the basic divide between left and right isn't that, nor is it the desire to move 'forward' or keep it still. It's deeper than that. Yeah, I can we can use correct meanings of words if it's simpler and avoid going any deeper.

NO NO NO. Look at the facts. No group has suffered more than the Hispanic in this last recession. There is 13% unemployment in the Latin community. The rest of America has around 7 to 8% unemployment. Yet in the last election 70% of Hispanics voted for Democrats.

If Latino overwhelmingly vote Democrat during the bad times, what do you think they will do during the good times.

They tend to become more conservative in succeeding generations. Most immigrants tend to be leftist, CATO had a good study on it. Shows how nearly every immigrant group voted for the left at first because it is more familiar to the populist countries they flee for opportunity. Just takes them some time to understand that the democrats only spread misery. Look what they did to the black community after all.
