    1. Well it is anonymous as far as I understand. Also I have already experienced some viciousness in real life from friends and family over this, at least when I confide my real feelings over the issue. My own mother accosted me for my choice and said I should have tried to save my baby's life even when I told her it was medically necessary she didn't care. Of course she has always been emotionally abusive. My mother is what I believe to be undiagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder. I was the scapegoat in our sick, sick relationship.

    2. I suppose not. I have definitely thought about it though, whether I would have had the baby or not and what it would have been like to have a baby under my circumstances. I think I would have made the same choice either way though. I don't know if I would regret it if it had not been medically necessary though. I would like to think I wouldn't but I suppose I will never know and I honestly hope I don't find myself in that situation again. It was very stressful.

    3. Crazies huh? Well so far I haven't seen too much crazy here. Like I said I pretty much lived with a crazy mother. Day in and day out she would blame me for things and then repeatedly deny it - I learned later on this is what is known as blacklighting.

    1. I suppose some might see it that way. I don't see my original reasoning behind my choice as purely for convenience though. It's one thing to choose not to have a baby when you're bringing down 200K a year and you can afford it just fine, it's another to realize you'd be a single mom and you still wouldn't be making ends meet while raising a baby. My situation was the latter unfortuntely.

    2. LOL! well as it currently stands my sex life has been nil and void for several months. But the birth control is nice just in case I meet that right guy. Better to be prepared than not right?

    3. Well I really hope things worked out for her! Give some hope for those gals who are in the same boat as us and who can see themselves raising a baby under these conditions.

    4. I don't see how my age has any bearing on this issue but I will give you a range. 30-40, somewhere in the middle there. ;)

    - - - Updated - - -

That's quite a statement! Simple and to the point.

I don't know. I could see her being there for me if I had a baby but apparently she draws the line at -Hey Steph I had an abortion, it was medically necessary but I sure am relieved!- of course it was more serious than this off the cuff remark. But I confided in her, I was hoping she'd be there for me.

My other friends have stuck by me though most definitely. After this whole thing I feel like I truly know now who I can count on, trust in and confide in.

You did what was best for you. Don't let others try to dictate your personal life, your abortion is your business. If pro-lifers had their way you would be sitting in prison right now for 30 years.

It's ok if they don't want to note the ectopic part. I felt it was relevant to mention that it was a medically necessary abortion but I wanted to make it clear that even so I still would have made the same choice in the end and I feel like it shouldn't matter either way. Whether it was medically necessary or not friends and family should support women with their choices, especially one as difficult as this.

Had it been legal to hunt Jews like rabbits for as long, would you be similarly amazed that some still considered it an atrocity?

Yes it is quite scary. Take a look at the thread about enforcing abortion bans. You will see what lengths lifers will go to.

My God I didn't get past the first page before I saw a comment about scanning women at airports. I am pretty sure the radiation from x-rays is dangerous to the unborn baby too. I mean every time I go to the dentist and get x-rays they ask me if I am pregnant first because the radiation is bad for the baby especially in the first months.

Nonsense. BC pills are more than 98% effective. You're thinking of condoms.

Did you mean to say lifers or was that supposed to be LIARS?

I'm pickin up vibes the latter might be the better word.

    1. Well to my understanding birth control prevents pregnancy 99.9% of the time, unless I have been misinformed. I know that antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness but that's about it.

    2. I have plenty self control. I have managed to stay unpregnant for the entirety of my life until recently. I would say that amounts to having quite a substantial amount of self-control and personal responsibility.

    3. No I don't. Is it normal for women to know when they are fertile and unfertile? I've never heard of any woman having this ability before.

    4. I am astounded that you are astounded by this. LOL! I have never heard of a woman knowing when she is or isn't fertile. I have heard of fertility tests for women trying to get pregnant, but never of a woman who just magically knew she was. My libido is about the same on it, but I am not presently in a relationship at this time so there is no sex to be had. I know some people have different experiences on it though, perhaps yours was different?

    5. That's ok hun, nobody says you're required to take it, so if it doesn't work for you and your life then you don't have to. Quit stressing over it! lol!

    6. Well I haven't had any kind of birth control my whole life save for condoms and the good old fashioned pull-out method. 'Course the pull-out method failed me several months ago which is why I have turned to hormonal birth control.

    7. And most seem to feel that way which is why I was generally relieved that not only I got my get out of pregnancy free card but I could also openly talk about it because it was medically necessary, but I feel like it shouldn't be like that. If a woman has an abortion and she wants to talk about it for whatever reason she shouldn't be afraid to, whether she regrets it or not, she shouldn't feel like she has to keep it under wraps because she did something wrong.

    8. Oh God if only life were that easy. You must live a very simple and easy life darlin'. Wish I had such simplicity and naivety in my world. LOL!

    Thanks for sharing this.

People will give you their opinions on how you should conduct your life, including your sex life, but you are the sole owner of your body and all the decisions contained within it. How you want to choose when it comes to abortion is also a decision that the endless amounts of opinion on the internet have no relevance to, no matter how strongly worded(sometimes with the wagging finger more than implied).

It's good that you got on birth control. Abortion is and should always be your right, but it is a medical procedure that carries risks of side effects like most procedures do, and those can be mental and physical. Plus there is the cost involved, and the potential drama from family and friends. It's not a road a person should take unless you have to, but whether a person "has to" is also up to that person to figure out. Nobody else should have the right to make that choice for you, and pretty much all the people who DO want to make that choice for you don't know a thing about you, or any woman considering or having an abortion.

Not that my validation is at all necessary, but I'm glad you decided to get on birth control just the same.

    I agree - it's a sock and or troll.

At 8 weeks gestation, an ectopic pregnancy is too far along to abort safely using drugs and an injection. It would have to be removed surgically and would likely result in the falopian tube being removed. (No mention of any of that in the OP).

It's good to see that I'm not the only sceptic here. :)
