I don't see any happy atheists on this forum, do you?

Once again you misunderstand what it means to be an atheist.

First off, I’m on a religious forum just like you are and therefore we discuss religion from our various perspectives. I’m not here because I’m an Atheist. I’m Atheist who is here because the topic is important to me.

Second, I don't actually SEE anyone on this forum which isn't meant as a joke. If I am to get idea of what someone is like I would certainly need more information than their interaction on a forum discussing a serious topic like religion.

However due to many of the statements given by Atheists on this forum I would feel perfectly confident in stating that most of them have a sense of humor and wit about them that they use to keep an even keel which suggests they are not as angry as you make them out to be.

Ok now that I’ve actually gone through and read all of this again what a crock of (*)(*)(*)(*).

Your kind of faith and experience with God is wholly narcissistic. “God loves me don’t ya know? He cured me of my eczema, he makes me feel so good while singing in church and just when we lost all hope he helped us find a bank that was willing to reduce my mothers mortgage.” Given all that God does not accomplish in the lives of others, given the suffering that some helpless child is experiencing at this moment to think in this way is to fail to reason honestly or care sufficiently about the suffering of other human beings.

9,000,000 children under the age of five die every year. That’s about a quarter million every ten days, 24,000 a day, a 1,000 an hour and about 17 a minute. Think about their parents. Most of these men and women are religious which means at this moment there are parents praying to God to spare their children and their prays will go unanswered. And on top of that all the ones who grew up believing in the wrong God will be going to hell.

And there you sit talking about how warm and fuzzy God makes you feel, how completely selfless it is to think about how great things are for you thanks to a God who turns his back on the most helpless of us by the millions and then you wonder why we seem angry when discussing your beliefs?

Thankfully he doesn’t exist because I really don’t want the love of a psychopath.

Well, I liked your first post, which a good response, and increased my respect for you immensely. I was looking forward to debating you in the future.

But then you had to ruin it with this hostile diatribe. I have now lost all respect for you, and you did it under five minutes.

The strength you get from your God is kind of pathetic.

 

Basically, what I'm going to do is keeping putting people on my ignore list until I'm down to the people who are willing to debate me in a respectful and pleasant manner. The rest of you can talk to each other, and tell each other how ridiculous Christians are for not conceding your superior logic, or whatever you feel like doing. You won't be debating me, and I will tell the other Christians who's on my ignore list and maybe they'll ignore you too.

 

I think someone mentioned this before; but blackrook, I dont think you have anywhere enough information to be able to tell whether anyone on this forum is happy. I think what is going on is that you have created a caricature of what an atheist must look like/sound like/seem like and then taken the atheists you see on this forum and imagined their words being said by this caricature. In other words you have prejudged atheists as being unhappy and then used the experiences which you remember of you conversations with the aforementioned caricature as evidence of their unhappiness.

 

I know that happy people don't:

Cuss and swear at people

Insult people

Call people nasty names

Insinuate that a broad category of people are stupid

Mock other people's beliefs

Generally act rude and obnoxious

But I see all of that behavior here, and the worst offenders are now on my Ignore List.

If you want to convince me you are happy people, you should stop trying to hurt other people's feelings, because when you do that, it makes me think you are unhappy.

 

It sounds like you are making a self-description with all the negative generalizations about atheists you love to throw around and start threads about.
You must be monumentally unhappy, by your definition.

 

You know, if you started swearing, you would be doing EVERY LAST ONE of the things you mentioned.
