What slip of the tongue? What particularly insane distortion of Mr, Love's comments can be confabulated into some sort of birther-friendly meme? Because without some level of bizarre twisting, what he said is completely unremarkable.

Are you honestly unable to immediately recognize that the original BC held by a Department of Health is not the same thing as a certified copy held by an individual or his family? Are you seriously unaware that one can be lost while the the other is not? Really?

Bear with me for a second; so, Obama has found his birth certificate, was very gang ho about it and wanted to go public with it right there and then. And his surrogates did not think it was a very bright idea (what else is new) So the conclusion I make is that his surrogates did not think, Obama's find was convincing enough. Don't you agree?

 

And they were correct. As was proved later when the decision was finally made to respond to Trump's leap onto the birther bandwagon, even a brand-new certified birth certificate with an unbroken chain of provenance from the Hawaii Department of Health was not convincing enough for the right-wing nutjobs who have invested their emotional energy into this idiotic canard. An old tattered copy from Obama's personal files would simply have been feeding the trolls.

Obama's staff understood (correctly as history has proved) that it would not change the minds of any die-hard birthers, and we all know that the general voting public didn't need any convincing anyway.

As usual, team Obama was right. That is why Presidents have them.
