I assume it costs quite a bit. I suspect the arab countries in the area are not doing anything because perhaps there really isn't anything worth doing. If the three dozen other arab countries don't want to get involved in Syria, why should we do that two continents away?

I don't necessarily disagree with your position, my original post in this thread was to reject the idea that the west should somehow resolve the crisis (I usually agree with the OP but not this time ) and I certainly did not want to let SyrianGirl get away with her absurd propaganda portraying Assad and his clique as "the good guys". They are tyrants and murderers, yet you have a point and they may still be marginally better (for the civilized world) than the alternative. The problem is that when the U.S. bombs Syria it is quite possible they will kill a few Russians and Russia will have to respond. If that does not happen Iran may attack Israel. All I can see is a broadening of this war. When the first nuke is launched the whole world is in a mess. The only thing the U.S. should do is provide humanitarian aid to the people that are suffering from this war...first of all the children. It is easy for us fat Americans to sit in our air conditioned homes...on our fat butts and let our young people die for who knows what. It will be different when the chickens come home to roost!!!! I'm not sure you're aware of my position on the Syria business. I am not in favor of any intervention. He probably alliwed Detroit to go bankrupt because they manage finances poorly. Its like the mother always bailing her son out - he never learns and begins to feel entitled. Detroit needs to get back on it's feet like most Americans are forced to.
Detroit failed in part because the automotive jobs moved elsewhere. But this is not my problem with going to war with Syria. I strongly feel that this will escalate and we have no business there. More than 4 million Syrians refugees fled to other countries. More than 320,000 Syrians dead. Who knows how many injured and....
