I am a bit confused in trying to understand American muslims? Do you (they), put their allegiance to the 'jihad' and the 'Umma' -- Before assimilating or honoring their country (USA)? I for one, as a Christian, honor my country and severed my country and would die for my country -- before 'die-ing' for Christianity. I guess the question is of priorities? Another words... Will the American muslim ever assimilate?

I think you should actually spend a minute and try to learn a little bit about a minority group before slandering them. Muslims the world over were by and large disgusted and shocked by the terror attacks on 9/11, just like America was. There were numerous fatwas both against terrorism as a whole and against Bin Laden specifically. There were numerous Muslim protests in the wake of the 9/11 attack, the 7/7 attack in London, and other such events - not of western values or culture, but against the terrorists who make it hard for Muslims to live peaceable lives in the west.

The first rule of conflict, you have to demonize your potential enemy first. The truth is the average Muslim thinks about their favorite sports team, that girl or boy they saw on the train, the need for braces on one of the children. Are they going to get that promotion/pay rise at work. Oddly enough exactly the same things the rest of the world thinks about on a daily basis.
Where do American muslims stand? Probably on the platform waiting for the train to go to work - with the rest of us.

I spent time in Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, Jordan and Lebanon .. with short visits to Iran, Iraq and Syria. I enjoyed myself.
Actually, America is not at war with all Muslims, or indeed the Arab world. We were specifically at war with Iraq and Afghanistan, and more realistically against Al Qaeda.
