I can't say that I blame them. They'll look pretty tempting in the EU's lean years to come. As Clint Smith said- "If you look like food, you will be eaten."
If this really were to happen I could see it being mimicked in countries all across the world. Truly the "have" vs the "have nots"
Canada had a war games a few years a go about US invading Canada for its natural resources. I find that more plausible than France invading the Swiss.
American gun owners outnumber the entire population of Canada by 2 to 1. Did Canada conduct these "games" at the base of a very large mountain? Yes, I chuckle.
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I hope the Swiss don't need their army but they need to stay vigilant. They were lucky to avoid the horror of WW2 and that was largely because of their terrain and military readiness. Finland held back the Soviets so that is proof that smaller nations can deter much larger enemies if they are willing to put up a fight and make conquest more costly than what the enemy could gain.
And it is amazing the stuff you learn from these exercises. Every few years the US invades Australia. We eventually told the Americans how we kept sinking their aircraft carriers lol - - - Updated - - - I think they were actually after your strategic maple syrup reserve
I don't think that is anything like what the Swiss are doing though and I doubt they are sharing anything with the French otherwise the exercise would just inform France how to invade them more effectively. Switzerland is a unique nation in the western world as they hold neutrality in high regard and have very little interest in getting entangled in alliances. In the past it has served them well.
You give away too much information. Now everyone knows how to bring Canada to its knees. Secure the maple syrup and Canada will fall.
Quebec produces 75 % of the worlds maple syrup. So it's the other way! Canada can bring the world to its knees!
I didn't think about that. Any nation who disrupted the maple syrup supplies would have to deal with international condemnation and perhaps even retaliatory action. At the very least any such nation would be a pariah for many generations and the object of much disdain. It's likely the aggressors own people would overthrow their government before they could secure the maple resources and get production back to acceptable levels.
