Republicans Eye Troubled Obamacare Rollout With Glee By Julie Pace and Nancy Benac | 10/26/13 08:59 AM ET EDT Excerpts: WASHINGTON - WASHINGTON (AP) For nearly five years, Republicans have struggled to make a scandal stick to President Barack Obama's White House. One by one, the controversies - with shorthand names such as Solyndra, Benghazi, and Fast and Furious - hit a fever pitch, then faded away. But some Republicans see the disastrous rollout of Obama's health law as a problem with the kind of staying power they have sought. The health care failures are tangible for millions of Americans and can be experienced by anyone with Internet access. The longer the technical problems persist, the more likely they are to affect the delicate balance of enrollees needed in the insurance marketplace in order to keep costs down. White House officials contend the website is just one piece of the broader law offering an array of benefits. They say that when the online issues are fixed - the latest estimate is the site will be working normally for most users by the end of November - few people will remember the problems that have marred the opening weeks of the six-month enrollment window. "It says a lot about Republicans that their focus here is not on helping Americans get insured, but on making political hay of this mess," said Dan Pfeiffer, Obama's senior adviser. Republicans have scheduled a series of congressional hearings on the program's shortcomings, and have called for officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, to be fired. She is set to testify this coming week before a House committee. Kevin Madden, a GOP strategist, said Republicans should be wary of overreach, and he urged the party to "focus on the basics" in the hearings. Democratic leaders have been critical about the seeming lack of preparedness for the sign-up rollout. "As far as I'm concerned there is no excuse for that," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told Las Vegas radio station KNPR. I think the administration should have known how difficult it was going to be to have 35million or 40 million people to suddenly hook up to a place to go on the Internet. IMO: The most telling part of this whole Obamacare christening into the American mainstream via the Internet has been the republican reaction to the various glitches that usually accompany something new, and their wholehearted happiness in the disarray of the first few days. They dont care about the difficulty of the people trying to get affordable medical insurance, plus the fact that they did everything they could to stifle the whole medical plan itself. Many republican states opted out of opening exchanges, refused to sign in to expand Medicaid which would have given many more poor people a chance to have quality medical care, some for the first time in their lives. Their actions are deplorable, despicable, and their state legislators shirked their duty to help implement this very necessary medical plan for every American citizen, which for many poor people, was the first medical plan they ever had. The absolute ignoring the need of their fellow citizens in republican states, is totally immoral and disgusting. They are so into their own unAmerican agenda to stop Obamacare from becoming a success that they forgot the American people altogether. When the polls open for voting, the American people will forget about these legislators altogether too.
"unAmerican agenda to stop Obamacare from becoming a success".....thanks for the laugh, huffy. Was it Republican's who delayed the business mandate and handed out hundreds of wavers? NO. Was it the Rep's who just pushed back the enrollment deadline? NO! Were Republicans in change of managing the portal design or rollout? NO! Did Republican's draft this law or support it? NO. Dem's, Obama especially, OWN this POS.......enjoy the ride, huffy, as you twist and turn to avoid responsibility for the "glitches", the "bumps in road", the public pushback and the inevitable "train wreck".
1) We told ya so. 2) As you may know, a bill that makes major changes to the country's health care system became law in 2010. Based on what you have read or heard about that legislation, do you generally favor or generally oppose it? Sept. 27 - 29 2013 Favor 38% Oppose 57% No opinion 4% Mar 19 - 21 2010 Favor 39% Oppose 59% No opinion 2% http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2013/images/09/30/rel10a.pdf It's always a joyful day when the will of the majority triumphs over a tiny but very vocal minority of people. They'll just move to a liberal state that did. Will be a great day for the Conservative States.
Thx, Agent... that explains it all. Obamacare is a disaster because the Republicans wished it into the rabbit hole. Got it.
This epic fail validates most every fundamental belief of my political ideology. Big Fed sucks. At everything. All the time. And I know it. And you don't. And I want less. And you never learn.
Obamacare wonderland is loaded with a pack of lies. Those against it are happy to see that people are finding out for themselves as they get their insurance "they could keep if they were happy with it" cancelled because of Obamacare to be forced into programs that provide less.
OR, if you want to keep your plan. Get ready to pay for mammograms, abortions and condoms.(and for women, get ready to pay for vasectomies and so forth) Seriously, did they think that this would remain affordable by having non-necessities in these HC plans?
There's another meme making the rounds amongst the hard left agitprop salesmen. It's SABOTAGE. From wiki: Will Dear Leader be purging these criminals soon or has the purge already begun? It's clear that these enemies of the State kept Obamacare from success. Death is too good for them. Torture then death. And let's not forget their families too.
Obamacare is just another redistribution plan but regressive in it's entirety. The young and healthy will be paying for the health care of the older and wealthier. Right now it is figured that at least 80% signing up are being put on Medicaid instead which is has the biggest unfunded liability and will eventually have to cut services to be affordable.
You posted an article titled, "Republicans Eye Troubled Obamacare Rollout With Glee" and yet failed to demonstrated when and where Republicans were expressing any sort of Glee. There is no Glee here. Just sadness that 16 million people have lost their health insurance because of the arrogance of this administration and their incompetence and putting together good public policy and executing it. Now we're all screwed. I'm not gleeful that you guys are destroying the nation's healthcare system.
Ok. I opposed the Cruz strategy of partial shutdown. Saying that,to criticize Republicans for being proven right about the pathetic Obamacare law is laughable.
