There are Lies, Damned Lies and Democrats

Steny Hoyer certainly is a creative man. Asked about Barack Obama's promise that everyone would be able to keep his health coverage if he liked it and the recent revelation that the Democrats knew all along that millions of Americans would lose their health plans under ObamaCare, he had an answer.

"I think the message [the promise] was accurate. It was not precise enough...[it] should have been caveated with - 'assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do,'" reports National Review.

My, that's rich.

Almost Frank Rich.

Since Hoyer's lie about a lie speaks for itself, let's just have a little fun here. Try this on for size:

Subject: "But you said that if we supported your law, no one would lose his freedom of speech!"

Leader: "My message was accurate. It just wasn't precise enough. It should have been caveated with, 'assuming you agree with me.'"​

Or how about this:

Subject: "But you said that if we gave you power, no one would be killed!"

Leader: "My message was accurate. It just wasn't precise enough. It should have been caveated with, 'assuming I like you.'"​

Man, I'm good at this. Hey, DNC, do I have a future?

If you're old enough to have lived through the days of "no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe" (hat tip: the liberal Gerald Ford), you may remember the spectacle of a Soviet government representative being interviewed on American television. He would just tell the most ridiculous lies. I mean, up was down, black was white, day was night. It really was laughable for any quasi-informed American viewer.

For Soviet subjects, however, it was no joke.

They were living under a government of the lie.

You see, one thing about this big, crazy world we live in where there's one in every bunch is that -- no matter how corrupt or wicked you are -- you can always find someone to do your bidding. There are always a few people willing to stuff the ballot boxes, intimidate political opponents, pull the gas-chamber lever or the trigger, or tell any lie you want told with a face straighter than the last man in a world of women (Jay Blarney comes to mind -- the straight face part, not the man part). "I vas just following orders, you zee."

Of course, we see people telling little lies all the time, lies that don't exceed the boundaries of their moral framework (it's not right, just reality). But do understand that with some people, there's only one limiting factor determining what lies they'll tell:

What they can get away with.

So it shouldn't surprise anyone that Hussein Obama (PBUH) said, when ObamaCare was up before the U.S. Extreme Court, that he was confident the "Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress." Of course, as many know, it was only unprecedented when men still wore powdered wigs -- the Court has been overturning laws enacted by "democratically elected" Congresses for 200 years. It's called "judicial review."

Just how many times have the American people caught this president lying to them over the past 5 years? It's more hair than I've lost in the same amount of time. IMO, If Obama is to remain president for the next three years, he should be imprisoned in the White House.

 

The Obama admin has raised lying to a all new level. And what is bad is the fact they see no problem with lying if it helps getting them what they want.

 

Wasn't it Bush that took the USA to War on the lie of weapons of Mass Destruction? How does it get worse than that? Oh yes I forgot he called it an "intelligence failure".

 

I wish you could phrase this a little differently. I find tyranny very amusing.

Deception ​

In the face of millions of cancellation notices, Democrats want to downplay the president's "keep your health plan" pledge as standard political hyperbole. It was, in fact, a calculated lie that got ObamaCare enacted.

To understand why, let's freshen up on a little health care reform history.

According to Obama, you can keep your health plan as long as you have purchased the State's approved program. Just like Stalinist and Maoist Communist leaders told their enslaved people. You have only one choice follow the dear leader or perish.

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 -- Findings and declaration of policy

The Act found that between 1980 and 1998 Iraq had:

1.committed various and significant violations of International Law,
2.had failed to comply with the obligations to which it had agreed following the Gulf War and
3.further had ignored Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.​

The Act declared that it was the Policy of the United States to support "regime change." The Act was passed 360-38 in the U.S. House of Representatives[4] and by unanimous consent in the Senate.[5] US President Bill Clinton signed the bill into law on October 31, 1998. The law's stated purpose was: "to establish a program to support a transition to democracy in Iraq." Iraq admitted, among other things, an offensive biological warfare capability, notably, 5,000 gallons of botulinum, which causes botulism; 2,000 gallons of anthrax; 25 biological-filled Scud warheads; and 157 aerial bombs. And I might say UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq has actually greatly understated its production....

Over the past few months, as [the weapons inspectors] have come closer and closer to rooting out Iraq's remaining nuclear capacity, Saddam has undertaken yet another gambit to thwart their ambitions by imposing debilitating conditions on the inspectors and declaring key sites which have still not been inspected off limits....

It is obvious that there is an attempt here, based on the whole history of this operation since 1991, to protect whatever remains of his capacity to produce weapons of mass destruction,the missiles to deliver them, and the feed stocks necessary to produce them. The UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq still has stockpiles of chemical and biological munitions, a small force of Scud-type missiles, and the capacity to restart quickly its production program and build many, many more weapons....

Now, let's imagine the future. What if he fails to comply and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made? Well, he will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction. And some day, some way, I guarantee you he'll use the arsenal....​

Americans don't want a nanny-state govt lording over them. This stinking pile of dung is gonna get worse and worse; wait and see.

 

No doubt that the "you'll be able to keep your insurance" was a lie, regardless of those trying to spin it as merely regrettably lacking the appropriate qualification.

No doubt the president has at times lied to the american public as all presidents do. It comes with the territory.

But I find it rather amusing that those who condemn the president for this lie, have absolutely no problem with the mountain of lies being generated by the conservative and radical right about the ACA in the first place. From death panels to millions of workers hours being cut to make them part time, to deliberately extrapolating anomolous anecdotal evidence as representative of the whole, etc. etc.

Seems in politics not only does the president lie on occasion, but all politicians lie and so do "opinion makers" and partisans as a matter of routine to influence the gullible, the ignorant and the stupid.

Fact of the matter is, EVERYBODY"S EXCREMENT STINKS.

The "lies" as you call them are supported by facts. The fact is the most of the jobs in the Obama recovery are part time, and if you look at the hours given, you'll find that the new part time jobs are in fact designed to be under the 32 hour "full time" employee hours that would trigger the need to provide Obamacare to employees. If you think that's a coincidence, then I have a bridge to sell you. As far as the death panels, even Obama has said as much -- that most health care costs are spent in the last six months, and as such, the insurers should think really really hard about if the elderly really need lifesaving surgeries or if pain-killers are good enough. As for elective surgeries, again, once you reach a certain age, it would be better for you to live on pain-killers than have a hip or knee replaced, because you're old.

 

No, it wasn't! Incorrect intel is not lying. BTW, the chemical weapons showing up in Syria recently show that the WMDS were actually there and Bush was actually right!

this spreadsheet shows that full time jobs from sept 2012 to sept 2013 rose from 115,678,000 to 116,899,000 or roughly 1.3 million new full time jobs
It shows part time jobs from the same time period FELL from 27,655,000 to 27,405.000 or a REDUCTION of 250,000.

Don't think you'll have any luck selling that bridge.

A total mischaracterization. the ACA PREVENTS insurers from capping medical costs or rejecting coverage for pre-existing conditions. Doctors will determine the best medical treatment for all patients, not profit driven insurance companies.

As for end of life planning, this is a very good thing for both patients and their families. Having a "living will" that includes a do not resucitate clause in addition to other wishes a person may have regarding their medical care if they are no longer capable of making those decisions is a good thing.

It is amazing that many opponents just suck up the propaganda without question.

 

No, the last Republican President was THE worst president ever. Let's not re-write history on this one. We suffered with Bush for 8 years so, 3 to go. Bush was/IS the country's biggest liar, and that's the truth.
