The US is sending two openly gay representatives to the opening and closing ceremonies for the up coming winter games http://www.news.com.au/sport/barack...mpics-delegation/story-fnect155-1226786665399
Wow! This is almost as rude a gesture as the USA sending "openly black" athletes to the 1936 Berlin Olympics as an insult to Adolph Hitler's Aryan White Supremacy beliefs! Especially beaus they were so disrespectful that they selfishly won large numbers of gold medals and embarrassed the "superior race"! We should respect Putin's and Russia's homophobia and ONLY send personnel and athletes blessed by the American Family Association's hate-gays policies and approved by Putin himself!! That is what America is all about, right? Kowtowing to oppressors!
Lol! It's funny... we become more "Secular" and they just have to become more "Proper" in response now don't they? How predictable...
Typical blunt low brow Chicago style politics. Maybe Putin will deny the gays entry, and if obama says the USSA will boycott, Putin won't care - more medals for Russia. Or Putin may not give a crap, he has owned obama so many times he may not even bother to acknowledge obama's little gesture of frustration.
3... It explains who in the linked article - - - Updated - - - Yeah it would absolutely break your heart to see him doing something good. And the Chicago style, try checking out the list of other countries sending gay reps for exactly the same effect.
Whoa, get back, don't mess with obama or he will send 2 gay people to your country. I'm sure Putin will reverse his position on Syria now, wow, sending 2 homosexuals to the Olympics is such a powerful message. You think Putin cares? You think most of the world cares? Only a bunch of whiner "progressives" in NYC and DC think this is a big deal.
Uh yeah, it is a pretty powerful message. It says we don't agree with your archaic human rights violations. Putin might not care, but the rest of tHe world does. And last time I checked appeasing Putin wasn't an American priority. Leading by example on the other hand... Yes, I do think most of the world cares. Many other countries have protested Russia and their despicable laws. Only someone who is completely blinded by partisan rage, or who agrees with Russia's tactics, would try to marginalize standing up to a grave injustice.
In Saudi Arabia, homosexuality gets the death penalty by hanging or beheading. In Russia, its against the law to talk about homosexuality in front of children, there's a social stigma against homosexuality, and the gay community has public protests against "homophobia". Thats PUBLIC protests. Oh yea, Russia is so mean to the gay community, Russia needs to be made an example. Putin is so mean we should send 2 gay people to the Olympics. Yea that will show him we mean business. When obama sends an openly gay delegation to Saudi Arabia to negotiate the Syrian civil war, the Iranian nuclear program, and the price of oil, then I'll take obama seriously about not just gay rights but human rights.
Saudi Arabia is not an industrialized democracy. Uh yeah, those are all pretty (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up laws for a modern, industrialized democracy. There is this thing called freedom of speech that we value pretty highly in the united states. /facepalm. Again, Saudi Arabia does not claim to be a modern, industrialized democracy. This is little more than a sad little deflection.
LOL, so its OK to kill homosexuals if you can say the nation is not a "modern industrialized democracy". Why is obama so worried about Syria President Assad killing his own people? Its certainly not a modern industrialized democracy. At least you are sticking to the "progressive" Alice-in-Wonderland ideology of no moral absolutes, in which murder is acceptable when done under the proper label but name calling requires a national condemnation. BTW, Russia is not a democracy either. They have "elections", as long as the candidates are acceptable to the rulers (that would be the Putin crowd). The only reason obama is sending 2 gays to Russia is because its easy and will win him a few points with easily manipulated people.
Don't really care about this. I just hope we beat Russia's ass and win a gold medal in hockey this olympics.
Weird, it wouldn't appear I ever said anything remotely similar to that. What the (*)(*)(*)(*)? This is the strangest strawman ever constructed. It's clear that you have no idea what the (*)(*)(*)(*) is going on, or what I am trying to say in my posts, and would rather go on some ridiculous anti Obama/progressive rant
Or perhaps you know exactly what I am writing but it challenges your ideology and you cannot handle it.
I always find it funny that people on here have to vehemently oppose/support every single issue. Are there ever issues/decisions that you don't really care one way or the other about?
Are you sure it will be gay people or Obama mistaken as a tranny because he will be wearing the dress Putin made him wear?
And want to know the irony? Hitler actually celebrated Owens's achievements whereas the U.S Mainland was still very much racist. NS Germany had a racial outlook, but the proof of how terrible our U.S history class is, is the direct comparison of NS Germany and American racial beliefs. Hitler specifically believed in the Nordics. The 'Aryan' was a scientific term that came not from NS Germany but by what racial proponents believed at the time(What, you didn't think the corporal came up with it himself, did you?). http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Aryan Nazi racism and American racism were two entirely different paradigms in the 30's. Blame American textbooks, among others for giving you the false impression that NS Germany shared our racial bias of the past. Our racial ideology is more shared with the British Empire(as Jack, among others noted), it was the British that enslaved the Indians and Africans. To the Jews, the best way to show up Hitler would have been to boycott the games(and there was huge discussion on it), obviously it didn't go through. History lesson may not be important, but I feel as though the past deserves proper record.
Obama got Syria's chemical weapons without firing a shot and even got Putin, Assad's chief supplier, to force them to turn the weapons over. The prospect of air strikes were very real to Syria and Russia, so they caved in. Dress? Putin will accept these U.S. representatives and that's all there is to it. If he doesn't like it, tough.
You claim Obama did these things....nope it was Putin who did....after Obama bowed to him and put on a dress.
Obama got owned by Putin in that regard, which is embarrasing. Not that I expected more out of Obama.
