Same in this case, they borrowed the tune and changed the words.
No problem, it's free speech, it's freedom of religion, you know freedom of religion means you don't have to use the christian words, you can cut them out, or replace them.
You ooga-b00ga Jesus people have to get over this, this country has no religion, anyone can do as they please in that respect.
We aren't having a war on Christmas, we are just ignoring the parts we don't like.

I think you should go back and read what I wrote and know who you are talking to since I think you are sounding stupid.

And public schools can't be expected to pander to Christians. Lets be honest, if they sang Islamic songs, the Christians would be outraged.

According to the New Left, a country mustn't have tradition, or culture, or anything at all. We must be assimilated into a borg hive for the good of all!

Your limited experience in what you have seen or read are not my problem nor does it cross out the experience I described.

It is instructing children in a religious song with religious meanings unless they are teaching them to ignore the religious aspects of the song, are they?

And the former is OK in a government school the latter are not. Are you going to require atheist teachers, or Muslim teachers or Jewish teacher to teach Christian songs and the meanings behind them? Do you think Christians really want Muslims teaching religion in their classrooms? How about atheist teaching about religious faith in a government classroom?

Can you cite some examples of teaching "anti-religious" views?

Good for the schools and the teachers and the pupils and the community in general. It had nothing to do with my views of religion and if I am so anti-religion then why do I support your right to worship as you see fit on your own dime and your own time and would defend that right against the government preventing it?

Why would you? Do you really want atheist teacher teaching about the religious aspects of Christmas to your Christian children?

    Where?

Believe it or not the Jewish religion teaches that religion belongs in the synagogues and not the public schools. So if the Christian Christmas is not allowed in school then there is no Christian Christmas it is defeated. Care to elaborate on that, how does it prevent you from celebrating Christmas.

Our public schools have been having their once a year for one day Christmas pageants, singing Christmas songs for EONS - now suddenly it's unacceptable, intolerant b/c some other folks of a different religion, culture 'might be offended'......

So, where's the 'tolerance' that's always being preached by those of different religions?

If the Muslim kids wanted to have their one and only day of festivity and songs, I really don't think anyone would care. I know I wouldn't. It's for the KIDS celebrating their own tradition that they had been born and raised in.

If the Muslim kids song that they sang all their lives about their God/prophet had some significant words eliminated b/c it referenced their God or prophet and it might 'offend' the Christians or other religious groups, do you really believe the Muslims would tolerate that? NO, they would NOT and they shouldn't be expected to!

If these people who move here from a foreign land find the American Christmas tradition so 'offensive' - well, they should be given a choice - either assimilate themselves into our tradition and accept it or move back to the country that they wanted to get away from, which didn't offer the freedoms that our country does - or used to........
