Newly published emails reportedly suggest New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's office was involved in controversial lane closures in a north Jersey town last fall, giving fresh ammunition to Democrats who claim the closures were political retribution against the local mayor.

Though he repeatedly has denied involvement, Christie has faced criticism for months over the bizarre incident in September, when lanes at the George Washington Bridge from Fort Lee, N.J., were closed for four days. He faced accusations that the lanes were blocked in retaliation over Mayor Mark Sokolich's refusal to endorse him for re-election last November.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that emails indeed show his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, suggested closures to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey two weeks before the incident.

"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," she wrote to Christie confidant David Wildstein, according to the Times. At the time, Wildstein was on the Port Authority; he has since resigned.

I was hesitant to make this thread because of Christie being a republican but after some thought Christie isn't a republican not one I would like to see as president. he is a rino

then I came to the realization. so this is why Christie is democrats favorite so called republican and why him and Obama are such BFFs. birds of the feather flock together

you can kiss Christie ever getting through the primary good bye

If that's the case he shouldn't run for president. He clearly lacks what it takes to not get caught doing stupid things. He'd just be Obama 2.0 if he won...

Come on Christie knew what was going on! Honestly I do not care what he does he should just admit it and move on.

LMAO, so Gov Christie is longer a Republican because of this incident. Or is this just more unaccountability from the right once again.

Christie is DONE. This is all that's needed to sink any national ambition and he should resign as Governor if this WASN'T NJ, a fairly corrupt state with a tradition of acceptable corruption.

Go have a cheesecake, Fat Boy. Buh bye.

There will mainly be silence from Republican supporters on this issue, on this forum.

Rather than condemn what must be one of the worst acts by a political party in donkeys years will be ignored by them, as if nothing had ever occurred.

Some us just see Christie as a Democrat-lite, as are many from that neck of the woods. As I see it, such blemish the cause of real conservatives...

Granted he is a step up from full blown democrat, but not worthy of representing conservatives at the national level...

I'm sorry, that was my fault and retract that statement as it was verbally incorrect. What I should have said was how funny some are when it comes to things to how Republicans get treated. Christie does something wrong, he really isn't a Republican and this is a reason why him and Obama are BFFs and blah, blah, blah.

I believe that most here have been consistent in how they view Christie. He is not a conservative but is better than what resides in the WH.

I don't think Christie has ever expressed a serious interest in running for President, so its most likely he doesn't care much about what his critics are saying. He's happy being governor so that's more or less the end of the issue.

Well going by this OP, because he isn't conservative, he's not actually a Republican. Here is my issue when it comes to this, besides the obvious; "I was hesitant to make this thread because of Christie being a republican...."

That line right there. This is what I find to be terrible about people in this country. IMO, both sides of the aisle shouldn't be calling out people in their own party. Just because you are a Republican/Democrat, doesn't mean you shouldn't be called out someone like Christie or Obama, depending on your side, if they are wrong or you don't completely agree with them.

If this is true about him closing the lanes for political reasons then he does need to be held accountable and face backlash for his actions. It's just as petty and stupid as when Obama closed down all the free monuments and sights(including placing road cones on the side of the road to prevent people from stoping and taking pictures).

Nope that has been proven as fact she did not. Just because Issa says so does not make it true.

Perhaps. But the media loves him. This is their GOP contender in 2016. They could easily just suggest that Christie had as much knowledge of what bad employees were doing as Obama did with the IRS or Fast and Furious.

Christie is gangster. He'll slash and burn and come out with everything falling off his teflon suit.

    - - - Updated - - -

You should love him. He's emulating Obama like they are twins.

Of course Republicans will ignore it. That's what the Progressive-lights do. We conservatives, however, will continue to bid the Stay-Puft candidate adieu.

You'll need more than a couple of emails between a pair of bad actors to make anything out of it. If they find a telephone conversation or email from him, then you have something.

Christie, brilliantly, took a page out of Obama's playbook claiming he "didn't know" anything about it. Additionally he has the opportunity to fire people, have heads roll over it holding them accountable unlike Obama who has held nobody accountable with all of his numerous scandals. They could always re-name the bridge Benghazi too and the media would just leave it alone. CBS opened with this, spent a whole 7 minutes, as if it was (and will continue to be) the biggest political story of the last 5 years on up to election day. LOL

I wouldn't vote for the guy but find it amusing how a disruption in traffic for a few days supersedes the scandalous nature of the Obama Administration that actually does damage to this country. The hypocrisy is blatant.

Christie turned in his republican card when he gave Obama that wet sloppy kiss after Sandy. Christie was never popular amongst true republicans only reason he polled well because of the democrats that was called on the polling
