How you got that from TV's statement amuses me. he said two things. Now if he is lying, and he is uncomfortable with it, BUT continues to do it (lie), then Now that is not my statement, it's TV's. The most insane mental characteristics of these people becomes apparent when you ask them why they continue to allow and tolerate politicians to lie to their faces and decieve them, and they respond by saying "all politicians lie". It has simply never occured to these nit-wits that politicians are employed by the people and their wages are paid by the people, and a politicians behaviour is no different to having an employee lie and decieve an employer, or a friend or family member lie and decieve you. That behaviour is NOT tolerated without an explanation!! Politicians are not even asked "why" they lie, as if its normal behaviour. THUS due to those two things "He is grossly incompetent" Now if you had said he said THREE things you would be right in determining that all three are different points. BUT as TV only made two observations and that was demonstration of his competence, then yes, TV is saying that lying and twisting is a mark of competency. Joe Hockey, the ideal person to sort out the fiscal mess inherited from the fiscally ignorant and politically inept ALP. His task will not be easy, as he has inherited an ever rising Deficit. A Deficit inherited from a Government that inherited a multi billion dollar Surplus and, like some wayward nondescript magician, managed to turn it into a Deficit of mammoth proportions. And some fiscally and ignorant international nonentity gave this equally fiscally ignorant Treasurer, Wayne Swan, who created this monstrous Deficit, an award! But don't worry the Australian economy has been taken out of the hands of the Labor children and placed in the fiscally sound hand of the Liberal Government adults. But since the Labor children have left such a fiscal mess, it will take time to clean up.

How about you provide the whole picture such as: the GFC impact at the time; The fact that most other nations suffered larger declines in manufacturing than Australia & the fact that other industries picked up the slack left from the manufacturing industry.
Its really funny if you pay attention to the employment statistics. HR and solicitor employment statistics during 2008 to 2013 increased, and everything else in manufacturing decreased. Not sure about the prostitutes, but I'm sure the Union bosses and politicians would have increased the need for their services. You hvae to laugh at ALP fanatic voters, people like "poker Thompson" defraud their Union members worth $hundreds of thousnads of dollars, and they still want to vote for these clowns, and think this same corruption is not happing in other Unions.
It's a forum post dude, dont let the facts hurt you so much. Of course there is a wider reality, but it dived under the full ALP term because of those factors but mostly because business confidence lies with the right side of politics. Jobs dont exist without business, no matter how much gravel is shoved down workers throats by the unions and peddled more widely by the ALP.
