We shall see what the EU does, they are not the pacifists some may think.

Its not so much that theyre pacifists.

Its illegal for most eu countrys to send their military anywhere. The bulk of european militiarys are conscripts, not volunteers.

They can only send volunteers outside their own countries borders.

I guess I think the lefts 'bend over and take it' response to Russia and China is not optimal....

Yeah, well what about france? Belgium? Italy? Greece? etc?

Conscription was only legalized because they couldnt leave the country or be deployed for anything other than national defense.

Not quite a coherent answer but quite typical.

    - - - Updated - - -

The list is retarded and reality impaired.

On the other hand, what is realistic is that people like yourself can catch a plane to Kiev and volunteer to fight with the pro-western Ukrainians but you won't.

I believe he's working his way up to demanding that ObamaCare be repealed, because that would force the Russians out.

Or we could do what Eisenhower did in 1956, what Johnson did in 1968, and what Bush did in 2008......nothing

    That's the problem.

Notice that when Russia invaded Georgia back in 2008, there was precious little that wimp Bush could do.

Yes. . .because Putin had a lot of respect for Bush. . .and that is why he invaded Georgia, right?
    Ridiculous, once again!

Face it. . .Putin has no respect for ANYONE but Putin!
And, what do you think America should have done? Go drop a bomb?

Face it. . .we have NOTHING to do with Putin's feeling threatened by A PORTION of Ukrainians wanting to get closer to the European Union. . .(note: they have no desire to get close to the UNITED STATES. . .just the European Union), and it looks like the European Union doesn't really have that much desire to get Ukraine included in their union anyway!

So, why do you want the US to be "the tail that wags the dog" and create a world wide conflict? The Europeans are a LOT MORE involved. . . and they choose NOT TO BE!

By the way. . .what do you think the US reaction would be if Mexico suddenly decided to allow Russian bases on their soil. . .along the border with the US? OH. . .no need to answer! History tells us what our reaction would be. . .remember the CUBAN crisis?

We have no business telling Putin how he should protect HIS borders. . .we certainly have NO BUSINESS telling Europeans how they should react!

Arrogance is what is killing this country!

The Soviet Union was crumbling anyway, it was just a matter of time. The end for the U.S.S.R. was their intervention in Afghanistan. After that misadventure, the U.S.S.R. was done. It was a 2nd and 3 world nation with a 1st world military, and it bankrupted itself trying to keep that 1st world military.

Russia has a large strategic interest in Crimea. Even those that do not understand the situation understand this much.

Years ago and many times since then I stated that our actions on Foreign soil have taken away our moral authority.

Now there are documentaries about all the information coming out on the Iraq war "why we did it". We did it for a strategic interest and that is oil. There was only one civilized/allied nation that joined our military action and that was England. The rest of our allies condemned this action for what it was ... more so privately than publicly but what is the difference.

We have drones killing innocent people on a regular basis in a number of foreign countries. Our own foreign affairs people tell us that we are creating terrorists.

We have been supporting Al Qaeda and other extremist Islamists in Syria which caused a revolution resulting in many thousands of deaths.

Russia was dismantling its military forces in Eastern Europe. NATO/US went in and set up military bases and missile defense.

Crimea was the last straw and we do not have the moral authority to say squat without looking like the hypocrites that we are.

Relax! Take it easy! Because taking it easy, on a vacation, is exactly what our wonderous president and vice-president are going to do this weekend: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...to-vacation-schedules-despite-ukraine-crisis/

And Putin? In a very hospitable, amiable way, he's opened the Paralympics in Sochi: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/putin-declares-sochi-winter-paralympics-open-22820349

Nobody's tearing out their pubic hair or running around in a frenzy. Be at ease. Ukraine is going to have a divorce -- with the pro-West Kiev faction becoming a welfare-state that will get in line with Greece to sponge off the EU, and the eastern and southern portions going back home to Mother Russia. Nobody really cares -- least of all Obama and Biden. Besides, the best place right now for a simple-minded person like Obama is on some golf course in Florida . He doesn't **** up nearly so many things when he's out there in the grass, swatting a little white ball around for hours at a time....

Obama and the US foreign policy are a mess.
Russia is in the driver's seat until Obama is gone.

Russia is in the driver seat about Ukraine until the European union decides it is in THEIR interest to do something. . .and it is obviously not at this time, or they would have reacted differently!

I am SO GLAD Obama is in the driver seat in the US at this time! If it had been a "war monger" for President, an arrogant type who really THINK that "AMERICA IS EXCEPTIONAL" and "THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH," we might have already triggered WWIII. . .for NOTHING!

Face it, Europeans are not that excited about getting Ukraine in their Union. . .no more that they were about getting GEORGIA (which. . . apparently BUSH didn't think was worth making a big deal about!) in the Union!

You see, even POLAND is not exactly the most "lucrative" union member. . .and it is actually draining a lot of resources from the rest of the Union!

Think of it this way. . .what do you think the "successful" states in THIS union would think if states like Alabama or South Carolina decided they wanted to belong to Mexico instead of the US? Do you think it would be that "hard" on our economy? Why do you think we have never even consider making Mexico the 51st State. . .even with their oil resources?

But what would OUR reaction be if Russia decided to put Russian bases in Mexico? Would we not "react?"

By the way. . .what do you think the Russians should have done when WE invaded PANAMA in 1989? Start WWII? or show a fake "outrage?"

    Be real!

    Are you people insane?

The Crimea and Ukraine are in Russia's backyard. The Crimea provides Russia's only Black Sea ports. Who else would be in the driver's seat?

Again, if you think it is worth going to war over, get on a plane and go support the pro-western Ukrainians.

We are better off sitting this one out and not making an enemy of Putin at this time. Obama would be a fool to go pissing Putin off now, especially after Putin literally saved Obama's ass on the world stage by cutting a deal with Assad to hand over Saddam Hussein's old chemical weapons and allowing Obama to take the credit for it.
