    Not my tiger mom.

    There are some distinct similarities.

So have you read "world on fire?"

They why are most of the right wing religious zealots against giving money to the poor. Heck, they even wanted to cut food stamps.

    phooey!

she might get some things, but she needs to relax that sphincter if she's ever blessed with grandkids. there's nothing worse than a granny who's more interested in reading your report card than giving you hugs and playing silly games with you.

they don't see the paradox. they should all be raving lefty socialists, begging to pay more taxes in order to help the needy.

no. I don't think I could, knowing it came from the same tiny heart of pure ice as the books about parenting.

I am not a Christian, but I do think Pope Francis is good for the faith, been a long time coming for a Christians to push good vs the pay, pray, obey motto

sadly I have yet to see a church advertise the millions they get from the tax payers, they keep it in secret and claim it as their own good works rather then give credit to the tax payers as they should, I don't doubt they do some good works with the millions we give them... but are we getting our monies worth of good works or are they using a big chunk of it to attack others?

Tithing, it is part of the deal in being a christian and being a member of a church. I remember back in the old days when I was forced to go to church the Baptists were adamant about 10% of gross wages. Any thing less and you were not serving god properly. I haven't attended any church for quite some time now so I can't really say what is expected now days.

But I will say that if you attend the Catholic church you may want to consider a little more than 10% as they are already into the billions in law suits for raping little kids and it doesn't look like there is any end in sight. They are defiantly gonna need more of your money for gods work.

    did they have a choice?

Seriously though, I understand one of them went well off the rails and rebelled big time. As it happens, I'm all for supporting academic success, but it needs to be balanced by CHILDHOOD. And love, in abundance. That means crazy, vocal, affectionate, huggy, warm, laugh-filled, and unconditional love. Not "I'll pat you on the back awkwardly IF you get an A+ in math".

I'm totally on your side on this, and raised my daughter with gushy love.
I like her political insight though.

Could be they're against the left wing secular zealots who are bankrupting us with a $17,000,000,000,000 debt. Jesus told us as individuals to help the poor, He never told the Roman government to do anything. Conservatives generally see as sucess the number of people who don't need the dole anymore because they are working, Obama sees more dependents as good IMHO.

God will decide, I know you aren't. The modern welfare state has decimated our inner cities, with a black illegitimacy rate of 70%. Have you ever wandered over the South Side of Chicago?

If god will decide where do you get the arrogance to proclaim you "know" this poster is a bad guy?
    Intellectual dissonance.

You know nothing of the kind. If you were a "good guy" you would not find it necessary ti lie.

And I have zero do to with your welfare country being as it is.

I come from where they actually believe in capitalism.

(oh, no further south than the U of C, where nearby is the the restaurant with a sign saying obama used to get breakfast there.)

The debt is not due to food stamps. Very little money goes to the poor. Much of the debt has to do with the warmongering religious right who raised total military spending from 300 Billion after Clinton left to over 900 Billion under Bush.

Not sure I understand where you are going with your response...The law said that the tithe was animals, plants et al, but never said anything about money. It also said that only Levitical priests could collect the tithe (and we don't have any of those in the Christian Church).

I don't care if christians give all their hard earned cash to their churches but dammit priests in the Catholic Church should tell their elderly parishioners , especially those on fixed incomes, that they do NOT HAVE TO PAY anymore to get to heaven...

"you're 80 years old, you've paid enough, save your money to buy your meds and new pants, we would be total jerks to take your money after 80 years of paying in !!"

And old people should tell god," ENOUGH ALREADY!"
