Love this guy. I have to thank the people of South Carolina for sending this guy to Capitol Hill.

Anyhoo, yesterday Rep. Trey Gowdy ripped the Neo-Socialist in Chief for his serial exercises in arbitrary executive fiat.

    Transcript from RCP:

REP. TREY GOWDY: I’m going to read a quote, and then you tell me who said it. “These last few years, we’ve seen an unacceptable abuse of power, having a president whose priority is expanding his own power.” Any guess on who said that, Mr. Speaker? It was Senator Barack Obama. Here’s another one: “No law can give Congress a backbone if it refuses to stand up as a co-equal branch as the Constitution made it.” Senator Barack Obama. “What do we do with a president who can basically change what Congress passed by attaching a letter saying, ‘I don’t agree’ with this part or that part?” Senator Barack Obama. “I taught the Constitution for ten years, I believe in the Constitution.” Senator Barack Obama. And my favorite, Mr. Speaker: “One of the most important jobs of the Supreme Court is to guard against the encroachment of the executive branch on the power of the other branches, and I think the Chief Justice has been a little too willing and eager to give the president more power than I think Congress or the Constitution originally intended.”...

...And if a president does not faithfully execute the law, Mr. Speaker, what are our remedies? Do we just sit and wait on another election? Do we use the power of the purse, the power of impeachment? Those are punishments, those are not remedies. The remedy is to do exactly what Barack Obama said to do. To go to court, to go to the Supreme Court. And have the Supreme Court say once and for all, we don’t pass suggestions in this body, Mr. Speaker, we don’t pass ideas, we pass laws. And we expect them to be faithfully executed.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...owdy_if_president_doesnt_execute_the_law.html

We don't pass suggestions. We pass laws.

    Thank you Representative Obvious.

Evidently, the "constitutional scholar" who currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue hasn't figured out what the crowd on the other end of the street is doing with their time. One can only wonder what he imagines they're doing over there (?).

Here's an idea. If Obama doesn't want to faithfully execute the law and his oath of office, let's send him and Congress home and be done with the ridiculously expensive charade that we are a nation governed by the rule of law. Putting this farce out of its misery would be the best thing that ever happened in Washington DC...

So wonderful to hear him quoting Barack's own quotes from when he was a senator saying the president should not have this much power, the same power he is abusing now. I always love hearing Trey speak - he's a real cowboy.

Lets see what law or laws that Obama refused to enforce or pass by fiat would actually rile the people up enough to take a stand against this lawlessness? I wonder...

Someone should advise him that the legislature does not pass laws, they pass bills. The executive signs the bills into laws.

republicans think if they get away with something for 8 years, defending it as ok, that when democrats get into power they wont also use that power?

the only way to rein in the power is for both sides in CONGRESS to make laws that prevent such power, if republicans make the bills to prevent all future presidents from issuing executive orders and all vote for it, then we can talk, until then it's all lip service.... Mr Gowdy, do your job and write some bills or sit down and put a cork in it....

Democrats think it's fine to wallow at the level of the lowest common denominator.
That's the rationale of a sixth grader and not quite what Obama promised everyone to get into office.

Gowdy is doing his job trying to stop this president (and future presidents) from ignoring laws he does not like and simply ruling like an autocratic dictator.

I think people take issue with the allegation that this is the worst administration since Warren G. Harding. It's not, it's only the worst administration since GW Bush. And Bush was the worst administration since Carter.

Do all the left of center posters here have "Bush's fault!" as a macro? If not, they should, it would save them a lot of time.

And no, they should have been more on the ball under Bush as well. So, care to discuss what's going on now?

if you do not want to prevent it for all future Presidents, then your just attacking Obama cause he is from the other side

There are no laws that Obama has failed to enforce. I suggest you do some fact checking or are you making this all up on purpose?

Nonsense. He won't even enforce the Bill of Rights. His NSA violate the fourth amendment billions of times per day and he won't do (*)(*)(*)(*) about it. He summarily assassinates people without charge or any due process of law. He subjects people to cruel and unusual punishment, torturing unarmed innocents. He's helping AQ get weapons and cash in Syria, which is treason. He not only refuses to defend the constitution and enforce the most supreme law of the land, the one law he promised he would as an oathe, but in fact violates it himself and breaks all manner of laws, up to and including conspiracy to defraud the United States, murder and treason.
