Depends on your definition of evil. But, all godless are not evil and all christians are not good. There are good godless, and 'evil' christians, and muslims, and jews, and buddahists, etc, and on and on. Just as there are good in all those groups. What god you worship or religion you follow, does not automatically classify one into a 'good or evil' category.

Aren't jesus and god one and the same critter? or is your religion polytheistic after all?

And doesn't your NT say that not one word of the law (OT) shall be changed?

If I have these wrong, happy to stand corrected.

    Thank you!
Then why do you and your pals here reserve your judgment for Christians only if everyone of every faith or no faith is capable of evil? I don't recall seeing any of you confessing to doing something evil in your lives. I guess it's safe to say that you and your flock are basically hypocrites. Thanks for playing.

You forgot to give the definition of evil. I don't reserve judgement on anyone and neither do they. That is where you get confused. Why do you think any of the posters here are evil? What makes them evil?
So you jump the gun on the hypocrite remark.

Take part back, many seem to hold judgement on the God of the bible. As there are certainly evil things done in the name of God. I would even classify wiping out the world but for ark things as an evil act. Something you don't.
And to refresh your memory, evil to me, hurting others.

And you represent the cowardice of your like-minded pals here. You hide in the bushes then pop out occasionally to throw a couple of rocks, then scurry back into your hole. I find it to be a joke that your followers here are actually shallow enough to see you as some kind of intellectual. Grow up.

Spare me the tap dance and the double standards. You and your klan are evil for the way you attack those you disagree with. If a Christian starts a thread, give it about five minutes before you and your buddies go into attack mode. Is bullying evil? Many people say it is. So own it hypocrite. You and your gang bully Christians here and that is evil. Deal with it hypocrite. You are evil.

actually, no it wasn't. during the late 60's, people started to see the actual jesus (not the prurient conservative capitalist they imagined him as during the 50's), and he fit so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing well into the contemporary peace and love movement that he was easily woven in. and there he stayed - leading to the production of JCSuperstar in 72/73. it was all downhill from there, though. the older establishment killed the real jesus and replaced him with their 1950's cardboard cutout.

Of course you're wrong. Christians live under Grace. Not law. Now be a good lad and show me all the 'evil' in the NT.

So you're a hypocrite. You only go after Christians and call out their motives and beliefs when in fact, you are no different than I. So get off your high horse and stop looking down your nose at others and fix yourself first. Attacking people for what they think is evil. Bullying is evil. You and your mob love to bully therefor you are evil. How's that work for ya?

up until relatively recently, we'd have been killed for our atheism. the abrahamics have had unearned primacy for so long, and so completely (in the western world at least), that it's kinda farcical to cry "bully" in the face of scrutiny. and please keep in mind that most of us question superstitions because we have a passion for advancing the human condition out of the dark ages. we can only do this by exposing the flaws in your dogma - and this means close and uncomfortable scrutiny. the fact that it IS uncomfortable should tell you something, incidentally.

what does 'live under grace' actually mean, in technical and matter of fact terms? what is grace, and how do you live under it?

many christians assert that the NT and OT are all one (while defending the faith by saying all the bad stuff was in the OT). just as they claim jesus and god are one (at the same time as saying god did the evil stuff, not jesus). granted you may not assert these things, and may well acknowledge the paradox therein, but I haven't seen you say as much.

I don't "go after" christians any more than they go after atheists.

And it's christians who are the ones committing the sins of pride and lying by saying they don't do anything wrong or they're better than someone else because they believe in fairy tales...they LOVE to set themselves up so others have a duty to take them down :)

Some one earlier wanted me to point out where in the New Testament it said god would send you to hell. It seems that they were under the impression that the bible did not say this, being especially adamant
that it did not appear in the New Testament ... but low and behold here it is!

I really get tired of educating people concerning their own religion!

I hope you understand there is a BIG difference between a TRUTH and a FACT.

    A TRUTH is subjective.

A FACT is not and only can exist as a REALITY.

A person who believes that a GOD could not exist as it is described by the Bible and other religious texts bases their belief upon KNOWN REALITIES.

A person who believes a GOD exists exactly as described within the Bible and other religious texts is basing their belief upon FAITH and in this case the manner a GOD is described in the Bible and other religious texts is a description that is physically impossible in this Universal Reality as well goes against logic and the very nature of this Universe.

Now if this belief is something a person chooses to have Faith in I have no problem with it as people have a right to believe what they wish.

But that does not mean such people have a right to tell me that I should believe the same as they do ESPECIALLY when their belief is based upon Religious Text that has been proven to be fundamentally flawed in that it has been improperly translated from the original sources it came from as well the supposed original sources are NOT the originals as 99% of everything written in the New Testament was CREATED by the Roman Imperial Biblical Canon with the complete knowledge that the Gospels and Books used to create the New Testament were NOT THE ORIGINALS but rather copies of copies of copies of copies....10 Fold and on....and that all has to be recreated FROM MEMORY as there does NOT exist one single original Gospel in existence that is an original.

All Gospels were destroyed when Rome actively persecuted Christian's thus when the originals were destroyed other men had to re-write the Gospels FROM MEMORY.

A simple experiment shows how such a thing will change the original wording and intent of such Gospels.

Get 20 people in a line and one person on an end will say a sentence.... NEVER MIND AN ENTIRE GOSPEL....say the sentence....On 3 occasions in summer and 5 occasions in winter and 2 occasions in Fall and 4 occasions in spring Jesus spoke both quietly and carefully.

Now....that one sentence is whispered to the person at the end of the line of 20 people and that person must do the same and whisper the same sentence to the next person in line and then they continue to the next and by the time it gets to the end of the line of 20 people and the person who started it at the beginning is told by the last person who received the message....the MESSAGE WILL BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN MEANING AND WORDS THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY!!!

Now that was simply just using 20 people and one sentence and doing in in a few minutes.

IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF CHANGE AND LOST WORDS AND REASON THAT WAS LOST OVER HUNDREDS OF YEARS WHEN SUCH GOSPELS WERE DESTROYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN ONLY TO HAVE TO BE RE-WRITTEN BY MEMORY!!!????

so if such qualities can't be comprehended, how are you able to claim "god is of course logical and reasonable"
further, if god's logical and reasonable 'self' is beyond our comprehension, what use is it to us in our comprehensible (prosaic) lives?
finally, how are you able to comprehend that god is beyond comprehension?

old Tom Aquinas was on the money, eh? he knew the safest place for god was just beyond detection ;)

I say your bible says God does evil things, you seem to agree, but think the good God does cancels out the bad God does, why is that? why is it so hard for you to believe God is better then the Bible describes him to be?

are the godless evil... some of them do evil things, just like some do evil things in the name of God

the only Hypocrisy here is you giving your God a pass for the evil things the bible says he has done

Taikoo is one of the most intelligent and logic minded members here.

The manner you are responding to her smacks of anger, frustration and I can tell such things as facts and realities that might somehow contradict aspects of your belief system is a very real threat to you and a threat to your obviously FRAGILE FAITH!!!

The true sadness and hypocrisy here is the manner you are replying to her is something that JESUS HIMSELF taught as being THE WRONG WAY TO RESPOND!!!

Jesus was very specific in that he KNEW that some people might not believe that he was the Son of GOD....so when some of his Apostles grew angry and started a back and forth argument with other people who told those Apostles that they DID NOT BELIEVE JESUS WAS THE SON OF GOD....Jesus reprimanded his disciples and told them............

...........That it was not important for these people to believe that he was the Son of GOD....but what WAS important was understanding his LESSONS and TEACHINGS and ACTIONS.

So basically Jesus said....If you do not believe in me....then at least believe in what I do and believe in my teachings of love and forgiveness.

Now I swear....if some Bible Thumper posts that the words I used were not exactly what is written in the Bible I will FREAK!!!

We DEFINITIVELY KNOW....that the current words written in the King James Bible are very different that the words Jesus spoke and are different from the completely destroyed thousands of years ago Gospels as not one single original existing Gospel exists.

Just as Jesus taught....it is the LESSONS AND THE MEANING OF THE TEACHING THAT IS IMPORTANT.

It is more important for a person to agree with and believe in LOVE and FORGIVENESS....than for another person to believe in Jesus and then get angry over words that we cannot even prove are correct.

Your status of ignorance about who is whom in the bible is incredibly extraordinary.

It appears that you have never read the bible and that your comments are based in someone else opinion.

Still, your message gives the impression that the author has the guts to come and criticize negatively the beliefs of others, writing stupid arguments like "God in the Old Testament feels both love and wrath...the full gamut of the human experience.. until finally in the New Testament, God literally becomes human, the Messiah, the Savior, the Christ".

With this poor understanding from your part, how can others take seriously your posting when is full of ignorance? My question is, who told you such a thing? Have you verified your argument by reading the Hebrew narration and understanding what "elohim" means? Do you really took the work to find out how this word "elohim" can be applied to the several situations and events in the biblical narration?

By curiosity of mine, do you think that elohim (god) is the creator himself? I ask because the creator has a name, and god (elohim) is not his name.

Do you think that the creator himself became human and was the Christ of the New Testament?

If your answer to my last question is yes, then I can tell you that your thoughts about the bible are literally full of ignorance, and for you to be better informed before writing more incongruences here.

Just adding that even a Roman soldier recognized Jesus as the son of YHWH right after his death.

But about LOVE and FORGIVENESS, the bible stipulates clearly to love what is good only, this is to say, what pleases YHWH, and forgiveness applies mostly to the one who repents of wrongdoing, and as an act of mercy. It can't be mixed with love of anything and forgiveness by any reason, as some ones seem to assume.

You ask him a question that the Roman Imperial Biblical Canon asked themselves and purposely chose a specific way to provide this answer in the New Testament.

Why do you think that ONLY FOUR APOSTLES GOSPELS.....Matthew, Mark, Luke and John's were the only ones used and the other 8 Apostles Gospels were PURPOSELY NOT INCLUDED in the New Testament when the Roman Imperial Biblical Canon CREATED the New Testament?

The REASON....why those 4 Apostles Gospels were used was because they told the story of Jesus saying that he was the ACTUAL SON OF GOD.

The 8 other Apostles wrote in their Gospels that Jesus taught that ALL MEN COULD BECOME THE SON'S OF GOD BY FOLLOWING HIS TEACHINGS.

    There it is.

MEN....appointed by the Roman Emperor Constantine were the one's who DECIDED AND CREATED the New Testament as it exists written and many Books and Gospels that told the story of Jesus and what Jesus taught and said were OMITTED because the Biblical Canon wanted a standard consistent message to be sent.

Interesting enough the MINORITY OPINION was chosen to tell the story of Jesus and the MAJORITY of Apostles and their Gospels and stories of exactly what Jesus did and said were not placed into the New Testament.

Well, if you have read the "other gospels" you will find a very poor translation on them. For example, while the Hebrew words are a reference of a Psalm (22) "Eloi Eloi lama sabachthami? Which means, "My El, my El, why have you forsaken me?"; we find ouit that in the gospel of Peter, the translator from Hebrew to Greek was an ignorant, and he translated the phrase as "My Power, my Power, why have you forsaken me?" Lol.

The word El (elohim) means "powerful", and applies in the translation as "powerful one, powerful ones", besides of other meanings that will apply according to the text, as judge, spirit, etc.

In this case, the word "god" is "theos" in Greek, that was another name of Zeus. Zeus was also called Dyaus", and these names became a title because was the name of a powerful deity. Today's English word "god" was also the name of an ancient deity that became a title as well.

How then you want to include a gospel that carries such kind of mistranslation of the Psalm 22?

Perhaps you can call for a correction of such an error in the gospel of Peter, but it calls for searching more errors that can't be identified. So, the best is to discard the gospel until the original or an acceptable copy is found.

All existing Gospels and Books not placed into the New Testament have now been properly translated but unfortunately there exists many stories in the Bible specifically the Old Testament which exist improperly translated still in the King James Bible.

The Story of Moses and Exodus is teaming with incorrect meanings and words as we know Moses did NOT part the Red Sea but rather Moses and the Hebrews crossed the REED Sea at low tide and when the Egyptians followed in their Chariots the tide came in and swamped them.

There was no 1000 foot high walls of water collapsing on the Egyptian's....and the depth of the Reed Sea was on average 10 feet deep as it was a wide marshy area that completely drained to it's bottom sand when low tide occurred.

Egyptian Chariots have been found in digs in this area.

The Old Testament was written by ancient man and some of it was taken from the carved stone tablets that the Hebrews carved during exodus but these tablets never have the words MOSES PARTED THE READ SEA.
