This directly effects gay couples with children. Not being able to adopt directly puts these children at risk should the unthinkable happen to one of the partners or the child's biological parent.

That not even mentioning the clear and obvious discrimination of prohibiting gays from adopting in he first place.

This needs to be resolved and now. Just building an even stronger case for equality as it rises through he courts.

Courts will throw this out just like all the other whiny anti-gay legislation being passed. Don't get too hang up on these things, they have no chance of staying law

The SCOTUS is refusing to rule on any anti-gay legislation that comes their way now. Which means that they are leaving the gay issue up to the states to decide. I wouldn't go counting your chickens before they are hatched if I were you, especially with all of the "whiny anti-gay legislation" that is pending appeals right now. The states are quietly gaining in the gay battle considering how there is no federal jurisdiction to rule otherwise now that the SCOTUS is playing chickensh*t with the whole issue.

This broke my heart the most in that article:

Because there aren't bad apples in every bunch? Would you like me to post what some straight couples have done to their children? You won't like it. There are pages and pages on google.

Ok I personally don't agree with the law but let me play Devil's advocate for the sake of argument.
    1. The article is from a pro-gay rights news source, so I don't consider it reliable.
    2. Studies clearly show that children growing up in a household with either just a dad or dads or just 1 mom or 2 moms, they don't develop correctly. There is a reason it takes a man and a woman to make a child, because children were meant to be raised by a man and a woman so they can inherit the skills that come with both genders. Men give their children their pride, honor, toughness, and work ethic. (Of cource the mother contributes to those but that is more of a mans responsibility with a child.) The mother gives their child love, compassion, manners, and essential life skills. Both of the parents guide the child along. Only having one gender raising you can work out don't get me wrong, but a child has a higher chance of success of succeeding in life if they are in a male/female household, and that's a fact, you can't disagree with it and if you do then your just blind.

The idea that children should on purpose and deliberatedly be denied having a father and a mother is pretty stupid and abhorrent to me.

The idea that children should be denied loving homes is abhorrent to me. But I guess that's OK with you. BTW- children raised by gay couples do very well.

So according to you there are no heterosexual married couples left in the US who are seeking to adopt?

Umm...where did I say that? We're talking about couples who already have children and want their partners to be able to adopt them. At least, that's whats in the article. Are you saying that same sex couples' children should be taken away?

You claimed that not allowing homosexual couples to adopt children means denying children the chance to be adopted. Try reading and comprehending your own postings.

Clearly, you don't. This thread is about couples who already have children and want their partners to be able to adopt them. You obviously missed that part of it.

Isn't the real problem here that idiots rush to do things knowing good and well there is going to be an appeal and that nothing is really binding until the process is completed? Nobody who acts that foolishly deserves any sympathy, empathy, or anything but scorn for being stupid...

Not nearly enough of them. There is a huge backlog for adoption in America and millions of kids in foster homes or orphanages.

Sounds good until one looks at the reality and a child raised by a M/F couple are not better off when the parents fight all the time and often either abuse or neglect the child, not to mention the many divorces where the Male is not present in the childs life. I would say a happly married gay couple would be much better parents in many cases.

Everyone has to obey the laws, they also do. So if it's a law, deal with it or (*)(*)(*)(*)ing move. Pretty simple right?

Just like what Black people should have done under Jim Crow right?

We should just ignore where the Constitution talks about "equal protection under the law"?

Stuff it. What about the 2nd A that says "Shall not be infringed" but is being infringed in different ways in most states. States can make their own laws, deal with it or move.
