There is nothing subjective about right and wrong. It either is or it isn't. In this case the evidence is clear. 2.1 trillion dollars are down the toilet. Tax cuts for the wealthy was one of the dumbest things this country ever did. It ended up being a total liability to the middle class.

how about this. lets debate taxes instead of boiling them down into meat head analogies full of holes.

it doesn't matter if Trump builds another high rise and makes another billion, it will effect your life for naught...unless you live there or get paid to build it. then it's a benefit to you.

I'd quite like it if I could somehow make the rest of the population less obese. As a guy dating around in his mid 20s the amount of women ruled out just because they're overweight is depressing.

The government can redistribute my leg day. Maybe a bit of my HIIT to burn some calories for other people, I wouldn't mind adding a bit more mass and that'd help.

People don't die when they stop working out.

In a capitalist society, people literally die when they have no money -- unless there are social programs that prevent such a thing.

So, pick your poison: either you pay for social programs though taxation or you donate to poor people directly so that they don't starve. For some reason, you regard one as "confiscation" and the other as "charity". I find that conservatives who oppose AA prefer the charity option over social programs. Coincidence?

Nobody starves in a communist society. I'm not promoting communism, but just sayin'.

Wrong. North Korea and the Soviet Union have been beset by massive food shortages and starvation that required international aid, something that never happens in a capitalist nation which often exports food.

Too bad most of today's "fittest" Americans got that way by genetics and didn't earn it on their own.

I can't think of a communist country where people are going hungry because they can't afford food. Yes, there was a famine in Korea 20 years ago, but N. Korea is a fascist state... not really 'communist'.

I should have said "egalitarian" because many people confuse fascism, socialism and communism,

Tax cuts are never wrong no matter who gets them and a tax cut for anyone ( including the wealthy ) costs no one anything.

The only wrong part was not cutting everyone's taxes.

Maybe it's because what you made was overpriced crap, like your cars, so people bought well-made and efficient stuff which works?

    Unifier,
I am don't think your analogy works for taxes, but it does for health care. So many people don't want to do simple things as preventive care, and the GOP fed that mentality by opposing preventive care provisions in the ACA.

I think it works for both. People bust their tails to build something and get to the point where they are ready to reap the rewards and now the gov't wants to come along and say "You didn't build that" and "We want half" and BTW we're gonna take the rest when you die? It might be different if we believed the gov't was spending our money efficiently and effectively to perform the functions we think it needs to do; but they ain't and most people are none too pleased about it.

"Now after you've worked your ass off to become this amazing adonis, imagine that through some magical power, the government decided to redistribute your health because it had been deemed "unfair" that you looked and felt so good while other people were fat and unattractive. And so a percentage of your muscles and fitness were now garnished from you and distributed evenly among all of your lazy and unmotivated neighbors who sat around on their couches, watching television, and eating junk food. And the harder you worked to keep yourself looking and feeling good, the higher percentage you were "taxed." "

News flash! The government is already redistributing your health to minorities. It's called "Obamacare." :clapping:

True. However everyone feels their tax break or subsidy is deserved while the other guy's is theft. That usually follows partisan lines too doesn't help matters any either.

I didn't know I was taking away other people's health each time I worked out.

Shame on me. I will stop now.

I guess you missed the point of that analogy completely.
