as a liberal I believe the Constitution is law, no background checks should be required for something every American has a right to do... own a gun to protect their homes and family, no permits should be required to conceal your gun as not to frighten bystanders.... that is just good manners to conceal your gun... you should not need a permit for good manners...

And this is a good example on why Obama has not advocated for gun confiscation. Even many on the left believe that people should be able to protect themselves and their families instead of relying on the Government (at least on this issue).

He said it would be just as powerful as the U.S. military..... you really think he's given up on that idea? When I heard him say that - and he's mentioned it a couple times after that - chills ran down my spine.

The Constitution is NOT going to stop Obama from doing what he wants to do. Has it yet? No.... and that includes confiscating legit gun owners weapons and his Civilian Nat'l Security Force would be the key to doing this.

The Civilian National Security Force, as strong and as powerful as the military sounds like another step of a dictatorship slipping in.........

King Obama ROUTINELY violates his Constitutional REQUIREMENT to "faithfully execute" the laws by arbitrarily re-writing what he claims is "settled law", ObamaCare.

The Supreme Court unconstitutionally re-wrote ObamaCare so they could pretend it satisfied Article I, Section 8, Part 1, the taxing authority, thereby completely missing the point of Article I, Section 8 in the illegal process, and also placing the entirety of ObamaCare in violation of Article I, Section 7, Part 1.

Gun registrations also violate the Second Amendment, those being an infringement on ownership. What, can't have a gun if you don't register it? Clearly an infringement.

We have had a shooting nearly every week since the Newtown massacre.

Still not a single piece of common sense gun law can be passed.

When no one wants to admit there is a problem, there isn't going to be a solution.

Guns aren't themselves the problem. Our unwillingness to admit that there is a mental health care deficiency in this country, coupled with a gun culture that no one is willing to try to keep in check is the problem. People have come to see guns as a solution for every disagreement, rather than being a rational person.

Not to mention the rise in right wing domestic terrorism and militia activity,

 

All that and gun crimes are still trending down. Helps when you post facts and logic and not emotion.

 

Helps when you consider common sense changes to gun law could help prevent these murders.

 

Oh by all means list these "common sense" changes that would have stopped Elliot Rogers from killing 3 people with a knife. Or the "common sense" laws that cause two 12 year olds to almost kill another 12 year all in the name of "Slender Man". Or the "common sense laws" that would have stopped a man from stabbing a death a 5 year old and placing another 6 year old in critical condition for daring the be in the same elevator as him.
