the Mormons are a very strange group. They help their own, but not others. I will tell my story next time. Right now I have to get moving...

    Begin story:

I rented from a Mormon once who violated my tenant rights. Because of her connections, she got away with it... etc

    more later

And if I started the same thread- but instead I identified an evangelical Christian or a Catholic or a Jew.....?

Look- I have no problem with anyone having an issue with the theology of the Mormon Church- but then again I have no problem with anyone having an issue with the theology of any church.

But I have to give it to the Mormons- in general they take of things and get things done- there is a pro-family- in the good sense- attitude that I appreciate- and there is very much a sense of community there.

And personal anecdotes really mean little- but I have never met a Mormon I didn't personally like.

I don't apply a religious test to our President- I don't care if the person is a Christian a Jew, a Mormon or an atheist- if they seem better than the other candidate they get my vote.

How strong are your convictions? Stronger than your partisan ideology?

Would you vote for a Mormon if your chosen political party nominated one for the presidency?

Every single Mormon I have met are the nicest straight forward persons you could ever want to know.

Why can we attack Mormons here and not have a huge number of liberals screaming racist, bigot or something. Then again I think that most Mormons are republicans, so there is no defense by libs.

This is a silly thread. What makes anyone of any religion unable to uphold the laws of the land? Heck, we have a Christian whatever in the WH that doesn't now.

I was having exactly the same conversation last week end with a very devout Christian friend. Neither of us have much time for the theology behind the Morman faith, but their works definitely deserve admiration

The issue with mormons is they tend to be very theocratic. Utah has a history, for example, of laws meant to support the mormon church's ideals.

But, saying that all mormons are like that, and not voting for a candidate because he is mormon, is stupid. Look at Mitt Romney. He is a horrible person without even bringing his religion into it. His religion does not even factor into what makes him a bad candidate.

I guess that is a fair statement considering you've not met Warren Jeffs.

Poor thing. Mormons help non-Mormons. That's why Salt Lake City is over-run with bums.

Care to guess why I don't want a leftist as President? We've tried that and it really sucks.

About the only Mormon that I know about that is a scoundrel, and idiot, and obstructionist is Harry Reid. But then there is always one.

Not voting for someone because he's a Mormon, is as dumb as voting for someone because he is black.

Letting one person destroy your whole faith in a religion?????

Does not sound reasonable to me.
