The 2014 FIFA World Cup Final is about to begin on Sunday. Tommorow, Brazil squares off against the Netherlands for 3rd place. It'll be interesting whether the Brazilians have fight in them, after the mauling they got against Germany. If they can't recover, the Netherlands may blow them out, equal to what Germany did or slightly less. I rooted for Germany, as the Netherlands and Germany were my two teams to begin with. Even I was shocked by Germany's blowout. I think everyone was. I expected it to be hard fought, and that Germany was slated to lose it given Brazil hadn't lost a home game in 20-30 years. In the beginning, Brazil dominated with their passion, but like one Brazillian ex-footballer said, they were playing like "they already won". To say, to confidently. The Germans got the ball back, and scored earlier. No big deal, it was early, but Germany scored again. Now they were in serious trouble. They let it go to their head, and Germany scored goal after goal, the Brazillians losing fight on a steep slope more and more into the game, ending in a 7-1 defeat eventually. As good as they were, one German footballer said they weren't at their best. They still have to field a team that will probably be booed mercilessly.

German fans were told to stay in the stadium until the Brazilans left. They were than escorted away, were they partied into the morning. Brazilians were let out of work to watch the game earlier by their government, only for much of the country to see this horrible loss, their worse home game defeat and joint worst defeat ever. Fans were crying, the team crying, everyone was shocked. It's said it may actually hurt the Brazillian economy.

The final's coming up. Argentina vs Germany. Messi and Muller are ying and yang on opposite teams, though Messi's rated higher. It'll be interesting to see if they score. Germany has a better offence, by a moderate margin, though Argentina has a better defence by a slight difference. As long as Germany doesen't play like they already won, that is to say too confidently, they have a good shot. If it goes to their egos what happened to Brazil, they may end up like Brazil. For Argentina to win, Messi must shine. Both sides will fight fanatically I'm sure, like Brazil and Germany were in the opening stages of the semi-final.

The Brazilian president planned to have a major economic meeting at the final with many leaders. She was too confident in her country, and now she must nicely tell them about Brazil's humilating defeat a few days prior, or at the least, it'll be a a white elephant in the room. She'll be upset. I think she wanted Brazil to be at the world cup final while she had the meeting, to kind of show off Brazil's capabilities. Also, the spending in the billions on the tournament caused Brazilian tax payers to protests and created much anger, which is likely to mount as it started to recede after Brazil was doing well.

Putin, who's visiting Latin America is expected to be at the final. He's in the area, so he might as well make it. No doubt Brazil's loss has allowed a lot of surplus tickets to be bought at the last moment. Angela Merkel's supposed to make it as well. The spokesman for the Kremlin says the two will likely talk on the sidelines as well. Most likely the word Ukraine will make it into the converation. The semi final was the most watched event in German history, over 70% of the TV viewers tunning in in Germany. The final will top this in Germany. The final's supposed to be the most watched event in human history, with over 1 billion expected to tune in globally.

Who do you think will win? Germany or Argentina? I say Germany.
