As to my arguments being 'in emotionalism' (surely you can handle the English language better than that...?) ...you seem uncomfortable with emotion...you have nothing to say about that young girl being hit by a stray bullet...and you disregard my reference to the idiocy that everyone being armed might have helped her...she was hurt by a criminal with a gun that he likely purloined from a responsible gun owner...address the issues...and embrace a little compassion for this young girl hit by a stray bullet from a gun likely purchased by someone who loves guns more than they love children.....you are criticizing me because I care....

No, you did not! And, as I predicted, you dodged the question again......those reading these posts can easily discern evasion...the 11 year old girl hit by the stray bullet died....do you resent the sorrow (that's an emotion by the way) that people feel because this young girl died from a random bullet....shot by a random thug....with a gun that he should not have possessed....but, had she been armed (remember---'arm everyone') she might have saved herself...the fact that you so easily dismiss (emotionalism, emotionalism....that is all they offer, emotionalism...) the unnecessary death of an 11 year old girl...provides everyone reading this forum with a true insight to the mentality of gun owners who will defend the proliferation of guns....at the expense of a child...and another child...and another child...where will it end stjames53? Hopefully, with reasonable politicians taking on the NRA and winning...you say guns aren't going anywhere...? You may be right...but, you might be wrong too....Send flowers to the family of that young girl....turn your guns into the authorities....(fat chance of that...) and join us....

Gun control has been done several times over the last 100 years. It rarely works out well for the people. Over 50Million people were exterminated by their governments after the people were disarmed. When you compare this number to the number of accidental gun deaths, I'll take my chances being armed. Maybe we are still powerless against a heavily armed government, but an armed populace is still a deterrent to government oppression.

The 2A secures the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It's not about feeling macho or being afraid to face the day without strapping on my 6 shooter. We have laws about exposing our guns or even starting or escalating arguments that result in us having to use our guns. The law works and criminals are rethinking their career choices with the increase of CHLs. In spite of the huge increase of guns being carried by law abiding citizens, murders are going down. The accidents are tragic but unnumbered others are being saved.

Those that cause accidents should be prosecuted as well. There is no excuse for accidents. In TX, we are responsible for every round that leaves the chamber. If we shoot, we had better hit our target and the target had better be a valid target. (Someone committing aggravated assault, rape, armed robbery, or breaking inside an occupied car or home) I realize that all rights have responsibilities and I'm willing to live up to those responsibilities. Anybody that won't doesn't need a gun.

Difficult stuff....type 'nine year old shoots instructor with uzi' into a browser and 'click'.....

 

It looks like the instructor got what he deserved. Common sense says that letting any kid under 100 lbs with very little gun experience fire a full auto gun is insane.

This one has always pissed me off though. Somebody should be sitting in jail for this, starting with the dad.

If I had any doubts about recoil and my children, I would make sure that only 1 bullet was in the gun to prevent a recoil induced follow up shot. I still wouldn't let my 12 year old fire a full auto gun, and he is a very athletic 130 lbs. He does great with a subcompact 9mm. He fired it a couple of dozen times before I let him load the magazine.

 

And if your vision is somewhat extraordinary...you'll see that what the right wants to pass for a heart is actually a bullet....look a little more closely and you'll see the NRA standing over the bodies of children and nodding their heads and saying....these children are the victims of people not properly trained in the use of firearms...like that gun instructor...his training was likely thorough and yet a child is now scarred for life and he is dead....yes, training works every time....uh huh....arm everyone and watch the formerly upright tilt toward the ground with holes in them.....

 

You can't lump "the right" together any more than "the left". If you go to any gun forum, you will find that 90% of the posters will condemn this Sherrif, the dad and anybody else involved with giving full auto guns to children. It's common sense. However, most on the right would like to see these people rot in jail before passing more gun laws. The right is big into personal liberty and responsibility. You can't have one without the other.
