    Washington Post....

    SEPT. 3, 2014
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department will open a broad civil rights investigation into the police practices in Ferguson, Mo., where a white police officer killed an unarmed black teenager last month, officials said Wednesday.

The investigation, which is expected to be announced soon, is in addition to the F.B.I. civil rights investigation into the Aug. 9 shooting of teenager, Michael Brown, according to two government officials who were briefed on the plans.

Under Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., the Justice Department has opened 20 civil rights investigations into police departments, more than twice the number opened in the five years before Mr. Holder took office.

The investigation will focus on the police in Ferguson, one of the officials said, but officials have not ruled out expanding it to other St. Louis County departments.

News of the investigation was first reported by The Washington Post.

    This is not news.......

Holder didn't go there to not find racism.....

In a show of solidarity, the entire ferguson police force should quit.

The is no way I would sit through persecution because of the actions of one ....

How is this news? Anyone could see this coming when Holder decided to stick his nose in it. The guy lives for the sole purpose of trying to find racists everywhere so he wont acknowledge his own issues.

So let me get this right, the IRS which has several questionable activities going on to hard drives crashing, having a scratch on it, and a blackberry's memory being wiped isn't enough to convince Holder that something suspicious could be going on but a shooting that has little to no racial undertones attached to it somehow has enough to warrant an investigation from the DOJ?

If the police all quit, then who is going to protect the citizens from themselves?

Wow, the writing is on the wall in regards to whether Officer Wilson will be punished and so the feds will just string up the entire police force on vague federal charges instead. Obama really does see himself at war with parts of the country.

Yeah, an unarmed teenager was shot and killed by cop while his hands up and there's been lack of transparency from the police department -- what's there to investigate?

After the way in which the Left's Trayvon Martin event blew up in their face Holder has GOT to find someone guilty of something inside the Ferguson police department; because otherwise he and Obama look like even greater fools than normal.

Well this is an obvious response to that situation.

I agree with everyone. This is by far completely absurd.

I have sympathy for the Ferguson police department since Holder MUST find something wrong or else; but on the plus side people are getting big time fed up with the Left's endless witch hunt for racists, and so will probably punish the party in the 2014 mid term elections as a result. Between the Lefts racist fanaticism and the horrible aspects of the ObamaCare scam, the Dem Party leadership is going to take a really heavy beating most likely.

There is no basis in fact for your claim.

The Obama adminstration has not been particularly agressive when it comes to Civil Rights cases.

The OP story cited the contrast to the previous adminstration. That is not representative. The Bush adminstration had a dismal civil rights enforcement record. Possibly the worst in 50 years.

I suspect that it won't be too hard to find a lot wrong.

The Ferguson police took steps after the shooting which made the situation a lot worse. They undermined the efforts of the State Police by going behind them and attacking the victim.

They did nothing to contradict the lies that were manufactured and spread throughout right wing media (the murder allegation is the lastest one to be debunked).

Yep, that's it. Holder wouldn't investigate voter intimidation even with a video showing a black militant "guarding" a polling place, either. Which pretty much tells the story of his entire reign as AG.

Rather than waste time on Fergson, the DOJ need to investigate the IRS.

This action, like that of IRS targeting and so many other federal acts, serve only one purpose, intimidation. It reflects perfectly what the head of the administration, Obama, articulated clearly; "reward your friends and punish your enemies".
And that's very clear under Holder because justice is no longer the driving factor at the DOJ. Holder is driven by a deep seated bias, he can't hide it. But with Obama in WH, he's free to apply that bias to the entire DOJ and I fear it'll only get worse over the next two years.

The DOJ investigating the Ferguson Police Department is no surprise and the results are, of course, a foregone conclusion. But, who is going to investigate the DOJ. Judging from the "investigation" of Fast and Furious and the DOJ's decision to stonewall, lie, and refuse to cooperate, the answer to my rhetorical question is, no one. The DOJ is above the law as are others in the administration. NSA, FBI, IRS, White House.

Here we go again (AGAIN). When all else fails, then slam Bush, right...? So what exactly was this "dismal civil rights enforcement" -- indeed, "possibly the worst in 50 years" that you write about?

The worst failure of the Bush Administration that I can think of with regard to Civil Rights was that it did NOTHING to end the abusive, grossly-unfair practice of REVERSE DISCRIMINATION against White people, also known as "affirmative action" by hyperliberal, radical racists for the unfair, undeserved promotion of Black people. :cynic: -- "But...but...slavery didn't end until 150 years ago! Whites must continue to be punished, right?!"

Gee! D'ya suppose that as his crowning achievement Holder will conduct operations aimed at ending reverse discrimination? If there was ever a crime against Civil Rights in the last 50 years it is "affirmative action"! Go get 'em, Holder, and let all the "race cowards" beware because "JUSTICE" is coming to America! :roflol:
