[h=2]Penn State Removes Bibles From Hotel Rooms After Atheists Claim They “Call For Killing Of Nonbelievers, Apostates, Gays”…
image.jpg Liberals and and progressives can't wait to book a room!

Penn State has removed Gideon Bibles from hotel rooms after a complaint from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) accused the Bibles of advocating the killings of nonbelievers.

“The bible [sic] calls for killing nonbelievers, apostates, gays, ‘stubborn sons,’ and women who are not virgins on their wedding nights,” FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a statement last week. “What is obnoxious in a private hotel, however, becomes inappropriate and unconstitutional in state-run lodgings.” [...][/h]

“The decision to remove Bibles from individual guest rooms was made following questions from the Freedom From Religion Foundation,” Lisa Powers, director of strategic communications at Penn State told Campus Reform in an email. “It raised our awareness and we took the opportunity to review our hotel practices. We wish to be respectful of all religions, and also of those who have differing beliefs, yet we still want to make the publication available to those who desire to read it while staying with us.”

Why are there bibles in hotels anyways?...if a person is the type that reads bibles for entertainment wouldn't they most likely have their own copy with them at all times?

I kind of have to agree if the lodgings are indeed state-run. Besides, there's got to be better reading material that could be provided :D How about the H. P. Lovecraft?

USA news media and politicians call for killing "unbelievers" all the time. They call for firebombing whole cities, and destroying whole nations.
Does the Hotel keep their lies and lynch mob cries out of the hotel?

Bible does not call for destruction of unbelievers.
It calls for the destruction of evil doers who violate the Rights of Man to Truth, Mercy, Faith, Property and Life, all of which democracy denies and overrules.
The Bible chiefly calls for the destruction of false thinking.
The destruction of evil doers is defensive in securing public security and the Rights of Man.

It's religious evangelism/activism, pure and simple.

Then it's calling for the destruction of its own believers.

Of course, in reality it's kind of silly to talk about "the bible" calling for anything. It's not even a cohesive narrative, but rather a compendium of sundry writings from numerous authors at different times and places.

Makes sense to me however, looking at the Wiki article they fill a dual purpose in that they provide a copy to those who cannot afford one or, find themselves in troubled times and don't have a copy on hand. Yes it's Evangelical for sure but may fill a purpose as some might find comfort in having access to one.

The copies as far as I know are the New Testament and so wonder what phrases contain the hatred that is quoted as "advocating the killings of nonbelievers, apostates, gays, ‘stubborn sons,’ and women who are not virgins." on their wedding nights

Correct; I generally pack a small bible for my own use when I travel. I never use hotel supplied bibles at all.

?Uh? Are they going to substitute the Bible with a copy of the Koran?

To be honest, the "Opening the Book" [the first Surah of Koran] is not that bad ... a bit odd for our culture, but you know this multiculturalism ...

sounds like they will have a religious library at the desk were folks can ask for a book if they wish.....

Because people in crisis often end up in hospitals or hotels, so they started putting them there so that people wanting scripture could have access to it during their crisis. It isn't like it forces people to read it by its presence. Beyond that, not my hotel, so not my call.

Bibles were originally in hotels to aid and comfort the traveller who needed comfort and stability while going place to place . It was the only material available at the time . No TV ,Internet, or papers were available. Maybe the front desk should have them available if they ear wanted but if they were taken out because of some special interest group the person that requested that they be taken out should be drawn and quartered. Just saying.

It's not the Bible, it's the intent, after all Bibles hardly existed before the printing press, so they're not really that important. It's that they want to remove Christianity from a nation which was built on Christianity, and that to me doesn't bode well for the U.S. But then again Washington is heading us towards a nuclear war, which I guess is the expected outcome of our politically correct beliefs...or should I say non beliefs. WTF???

How is that a sad question? It is a perfectly valid question and you insulted him on it.

Never assume that just because you know something the other person knows it.

I'm sure any really devout koran readers have their own copy with them...

if hotels are going to supply books for every belief it's going to have a considerable library in each room...

agree for the most part if the hotel is a private institution, but isn't Penn State public? if it is it needs to operate by standards that treat everyone equally...
