Is Islam a peaceful religion or a cult of terrorism?

If that's what they call the religion of peace Id hate to see the more sinister side of religion. Whats worse than decapitating innocent children?

Are you sure it wasn't the Christians who decided to fight the Muslims on their own territory. I think they should have left them well alone then too.

Yes, the Muslims were violently taking over land and cities that didn't belong
to them including Jerusalem that belonged to Israel. Much like Poland was

Note the Crusades dont start until around 500 years of Islam hammering Europe.

Germany invaded Poland because hitler (ym"sh") wanted it and knew that
Chamberland would do nothing to stop him. He'd already taken Austria
and Czech.

 

Doesn't this sound like Putin and Ukraine, where he knows the West will not (and realistically cannot short of ww3) do anything to stop him.

All of the major religions are Rorschach Tests. What you bring to your religion is from your personality (shaped by a mixture of genetics, family environment, and society) and your personality determines how you will express your religion. If you are prone to violence your religion will be violent. If you are prone to pacifism your religion will be peaceful.

But if you are someone who does not study your religion's texts yourself but instead allows religious authorities to interpret the texts for you, then your religious views will reflect the authorities' personality until such time as you either begin to study the texts yourself or choose different authorities (and you will, given the opportunity, probably even choose religious authorities with views that reflect your own personality).

I am glad you said that. I have been thinking similar thoughts for a while.

 

99% of Muslims are peaceful people, unfortunately you only hear about the violent 1%. Saying that Islam is a violent cult is as ignorant as saying that all Americans want to shoot you because most of what we see on TV is Americans shooting each other (I am against strict gun control btw, but I digressed). I'm an atheist, and I think most religions are dumb, but I don't assume that people from Islam are dangerous just because the 1% that we hear about are violent.

 

Using your formula, 10+ Million Muslim's are violent, but those other 99% don't seem to be helping rid their religion or shed themselves from that 1%. Additionally that 1% are the younger ones who seem to be willing to do anything for some reason, then your not considering the Imam's (preachers) which I'd bet are more than 50% behind the radicals. If 300K American's got off track, IN THE SAME MANNER, you can bet your life our 99% wouldn't put up with it for one minute, with the possible exception of Chicago...

 

We have far more violent crime in the US than in most Arab countries.

 

I did say "IN THE SAME MANNER", but to my knowledge very few people complain about our American Law/Legal system which keeps it under control. I would agree, that there are some Preachers (REV. Wright comes to mind) that do preach violence and have a following, but that same legal system DOES control most of them....and most the public, pays no attention to them.
