Nurse Typhoid Mary should be prosecuted for endangering the public.

Because the military does things its own way? Because they think it's simpler and cheaper than tracking the soldiers, and they have complete authority over those soldiers? Because it's a good PR move?

Doesn't change the fact that every medical expert says there's no need for a quarantine.

    ????

???? Democrats/liberals made a political stink about it? Please back that up.

I question your grasp of the facts. Please demonstrate that your claims are correct before claiming they represent inconsistency.

After reading this thread I notice
The same people that speak about obama administration taking a way rights
wants the government To take a way someone's freedom without due process

I'm wondering if they really care or just an opportunity to bash the government and the president

The guy who brought ebola to the U.S. was also asymptomatic. He later developed symptoms after being released into the public mainstream from the hospital in Dallas, and later died from it. This woman's ego is going to get other people infected. She needs to be arrested and quarantined as soon as possible.

Of course she isn't because she will be forced to quarantine. Obamas admin is largely to blame. they put out so much misinformation that everyone is terrified now.

What part of 21 day incubation period are you having trouble understanding Skippy?
    - - - Updated - - -

At what point in the incubation period does the test show positive? ... what's that? You don't know? I thought as much.

Or to draw attention away from the fact that Obama is turning a blind eye to Isis and is generally screwing up everything he touches.

Absolute BS, HIV doesn't have people hurling uncontrollably and spraying infectious diarrhea all over the place like Ebola does. You are part of the misinformation campaign!

There are PLENTY of things to bash the president over. So....no, this is about really caring.

Sounds like certain people care more about this one woman's "freedom" and "due process" than they do about the children next to her in the grocery store line when she becomes symptomatic and spreads Ebola to them. Maybe this would help: they should consider it's THEIR children or THEIR grandchildren. Maybe then......they can think about this in a less political manner.

I didn't see any liberal on this board making the case that Thomas Duncan should have been sent home that first visit to the hospital. I'm not going to go do research for you to prove a negative. IF you think there were liberals that agreed HE should have been allowed to go back home because his temp was only fluctuating, then please provide those examples. I'm saying the TWO cases are similar.

I'll make it really simple for ya:

Nurse Hickox came directly from handling Ebola patients in West Africa.
Thomas Duncan came directly from handling Ebola patients in West Africa.
Nurse Hickox had fluctuating temp....not over the limit....when first tested.
Thomas Duncan had fluctuating temp.....not over the limit....when first tested.

Did you fault the hospital for NOT admitting Duncan that first night? Why...or why not?

Did you believe NJ and now Maine should require Nurse Hickox be under a 21 day quarantine? Why....or why not?

It's much, much easier for the military to tell you, at any given moment, where one of it's members are than for civilian authorities to "track" a civilian.

So allowing typhoid Mary there to pitch her little fit and ignore the authorities is a great PR move, got'cha.

"Every" medical expert? You have something that shows this?

Then again, history is rife with "experts" ending up complete idiots because of their "expert" opinions.

All the stupid tantrums aside, forget politics, forget your petty partisanship....show us how or why a relatively short quarantine for those coming here from the heavily infected countries is such a quandry in light of the potential someone might get infected and/or die?

Why would she voluntarily quarantine? Were folks planning on touching her blood, urine, or feces in the very slim chance she becomes infected?

I am amazed at how folks have taken this thing and run with it, eschewing thought, logic and facts. The quarantines seem to be reactionary nonsense. There is no point to them except to fuel right wing fantasies of governmental overreach and oppressive thought based not on science, but rather lack of knowledge.

So you think the government should violate the constitution in this case

Of course I hope you realize that all is needed is medical experts to testify before a judge that she is any danger to the community

    Why hasn't that happened

    could it be
All the medical experts say she is not a danger to the community

What a selfish scumbag this nurse is. She goes to an area where a deadly and contagious disease is and is possibly exposed to it. She returns and refuses to take measures to prevent others, possibly her own friends and family, from being exposed to a deadly and contagious disease....think about that.

All this selfish scumbag needs to do is stay away from people for 21 days....is that more of a sacrifice than travelling to a 3rd world country to treat those infected? No. Yet this selfish scumbag insists on gambling with the lives of others because she doesn't want to inconvenienced.

So her sneezing or coughing on them wouldn't infect the kids? Of course it could, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Do people vomit on you regularly? Maybe so, but by the time you are vomiting from Ebola, you have already been symptomatic with a fever. The anti-science crowd is in the wrong century...the Dark Ages is a better fit. In those days people did not bathe because hey believed that a layer of filth would protect them from geting sick...I wonder if right wingers practice this preventive measure.

    Here is another theory.

This nurse is intelligent enough to not buy into the ignorant hype surrounding the transfer of the disease, and feels no need to be put on some sort of restrictions dreamed up in the mind of right wing folks who are ignoring facts.

    That would be my theory.

    I disagree.

I think while folks get themselves in a tizzy over nothing I am intelligent to not buy what every uber right wing talkign head and presidential hopeful is talking about. The simple fact is the disease is incredibly difficult to transfer, and there is no point to a quarantine other than to placate the minds of the faithful.

Which brings up another point. Where are the Ditto Heads and Perry fans when it comes to the flu, which kills up to 50,000 folks a year in this country>? Where are the screams to quarantine all of those people?

It does not exist. Want to know why, in my opinion? Because Ebola is from Africa, and the American populace is profoundly ignorant on Africa, and see it as a continent full of black people, so this disease must be really bad.

Let me use one of the liberal meme phrases they like to use when we speak the topic of those "evil" guns (altered to replace "guns" with "freedom":

"No one's taking away your freedom"

But, if that's how you feel, why the hell do we quarantine anyone at all then, for any infectious disease, hell, we're obviously "taking away their rights", right?

Like you wondering about filthy rightwingers I often wonder if leftwingers routinely eat their own snot as a light and refreshing snack between meals. But I also know that not everyone exhibits the same symptoms in the same order every time and nor do they -- gasp! -- react the same way as everyone else getting sick. Someone most certainly can projectile vomit over a child as the first Ebola symptom. Perhaps leftwingers should not be getting their medical information from Dr. Phil.
