And the uninsured are charged four to five times what the insurance companies pay for the same procedure. A distortion caused by the tax system in this country.

    - - - Updated - - -

Semantics not facts. You are buying the coast guard with your taxes like it or not.

No. More about the intelligence of conservatives versus liberals. Your arguing point was the intelligence of conservatives was higher than liberals, I just pointed out that you were an exception to the rule.

That is very interesting, since Democrats have been in power for some 6 to 8 years and the people they claim to look out for are worse off by far than they were before. The black community in particular has faired far worse under Obama, Pelosi, and Reid than under Bush. So....yeah voters are truly stupid, but not so much the ones who voted Republican.

    - - - Updated - - -

THE fact that liberal positions are frequently unworkable and irrational undermines your party talking point meme.
    - - - Updated - - -

Obama has basically mirrored Bush on foreign policy issues, except more recently since he has basically already checked out mentally. I find it interesting that you are calling him an idiot.....now.

Give me the money and I will BUY a Coast Guard. And I'll do it before dinner time tonite.

Btw, it wasn't my contention that insurance is not a product, I really couldn't care less. I'll save myself the time of refuting you and ask that you simply refer to the post before mine. You seem to have a case of the lazies.

On this forum I have never supported Bush 43. I was an early supporter of Bush 43, but by 2004-2005 I saw Bush was a weak leader, not a conservative, and doing long term damage to the nation. In late 2008, I left the Republican party, the TARP bailout was the last straw for me.

I rate Bush 43 as setting the stage for the end of the nation and the second worst President in our history, the worst being obama.

Today, most conservatives do not like Bush 43. Conservatives have evolved and learned from their past, and are trying to bring the Republican party back on the right track. That's the essence of the GOP civil war. "progressives", on the other hand, still blindly support their failed leader (obama) and party just like many Republicans blindly supported Bush in his second term. Once people realize both the R & D parties are failures, then we can fix some problems.

So in your opinion, who in the GOP or other Parties are true conservatives?

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. When the slaves cheered at taking the ship, one of two things always happened. They ran it aground and killed a good many of themselves because they didn't know how to swim, or they relied on a crew member who misguided them into a port where they were captured. Both apply here. A good many dems are about to have their careers drowned and the survivors are heading straight into the GOP port.

""""And the uninsured are charged four to five times what the insurance companies pay for the same procedure""""

Now just where did you get that silly idea?? Example I went into a hospital in Tacoma, Wa to have a skin craft measuring 1 1/2 inch by 3/4 of an inch on my thumb. I went in at 11 AM and walked out at 2 PM, the hospital billed my insurance company $18,638. I called them and asked $18,638 for "WHAT"? I was told, "Because you and your doctor chose our hospital"!! Yes, there were separate bills for the doctor and anesthesiologist. The reason they bill the insurance companies so much is to pay for the ones the government says they have to treat and don't get paid for.

    - - - Updated - - -

But the Coast Guard would look silly without them the same as the Navy would without ships.

I was actually arguing that libertarians are the smartest. Since you couldn't even understand that point even though I stated it more than once what does that say about you? Social conservatives are the dumbest, big shock, next come liberals and finally the smartest are fiscal conservatives and libertarians who are with the possible exception of pot legalization and maybe defense spending are in agreement on most other issues.

No "progressive" (Democrat Party) is a conservative or even embraces American ideals of equality, the rule of law, and respect for the individual.

In the Republican party, Mike Lee, Louis Gohmert, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Paul Broun, and others. Generally, since conservatives threaten the GOP establishment and prog lock on power, you can ID conservatives as the people who are constantly smeared by "progressives" and attacked and threatened by the GOP establishment.

Thanks for the listing, some I know and some not and will need to do more reading on their stands before considering them as options or throwing them to the wayside. Not a big fan of Cruz, not so much for his ideas, some I agree with, but the grandstanding and some of his own actions make me wonder if he is more interested in the welfare of the Nation or his own rise to power.
As for there being no conservative Dems, you have never been to Texas, our Dems would be considered conservatives in some states and in Europe they would be considered far right-wingers, as there is a difference between "conservatives" there is also a difference between "liberals".

What you fail to understand is that what the insurance company is billed has no relationship to what the insurance company actually pays. The amount billed to the insurance company is what the hospital bills for the procedure and what an uninsured patient will be required to pay.

Your insurance company if you actually check will pay about 25% of what was actually billed.

The fact that the uninsured pay about four to five times what an insurance company actually pays for the same procedure can be pretty easily verified by an online search. And by the way I am good friends with the CFO of a major hospital who has shown me the data. You can probably ask anyone in the billing dept. at your hospital and verify my statement or you can wait for your insurance company statement which will show you what the actually paid. Or you can just call your insurance company and ask what they were billed and what they paid.

This is a very good argument for a single payer UHC system.

Friend, I'm 68 years old and have been playing the insurance game since I was 21, and you think I "Fail" to understand anything about it??? I know the providers give the insurance companies discounts, but they still don't amount to that much. Example, the Doctor's office sends us a bill for $187 for an office visit, they cut it to $142 and my insurance company pays $113 leaving me with a $28 bill. That same office visit will cost someone without insurance $75.

Your actual statement from your post:
" I just posted two studies that show that liberals are in fact DUMBER (on an actual person by person comparison the smallest unit of measure you can get) than fiscal conservatives or classical liberals ie Libertarians"

Maybe you have problems remembering what you actually said so I posted it above. The two statement seem to be rather contradictory as to who is the DUMBER, Liberals or Fiscal Conservatives. Pretty hard for me to understand your points when you can't even get your facts right!

Frick it would be such a shock to people they might actually vote for that person.

You are right about debates. They are simply about exchanging platitudes. Its like ... Yeah dude ... I already know that you are for lower taxes, small Government and more jobs and this is the 500'th time I have heard that from someone wearing the same hat as you.

They never say how they are going to accomplish this.

FISCAL conservatives. As I stated several times now you can't just lump all conservatives together because some of them are social conservatives and others are fiscal conservatives who don't care about social issues, just economic issues. They tend to be very similar to Libertarians precisely because of their antipathy towards or support of gay and/or abortion rights. Once again, social conservatives ranked the lowest, then came liberals and then on top are Libertarians and fiscal conservatives.

Then why do social conservatives, at least to me, seem to be in charge? Are they just the loudest?

"opposition to Democrats as surrogates for an African American President is driven by racial animus"

Can you see the race card? If this isn't keeping the democrat constituent stupid I don't know what is. Poor stupid white people voting against there interests because don't they know, democrats will give them welfare and keep them eternally in poverty if only you will just vote for them and keep them in office. Or perhaps poor people don't want welfare, they want jobs so they don't have to be poor anymore. Maybe they want to see if republicans can turn the economy with supply side economics which worked so well for Reagan.

Maybe voters are just tired of being called a racist for opposing the radical lefts failed socialist policies.

It does seem to me like about 98 out of 100 times I hear anything about race it is a right winger denying they are, or complaining about being called that by the left or something. Every once in a great while i will hear an accusation of racism from blacks, but constantly I hear if from the right wing. Why is that?

Your not in charge for much longer. In case you haven't noticed the asshat social conservatives (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up the Tea Party which started off as a Libertarian movement focused on economics. Social conservatives like Palin et al decided to grab the Tea Party coattails and because the TP was decentralized they could start their own organizations up and call them Tea Party groups and half the TP groups were all of a sudden advocating social issues. What happened is that you left you back door unlocked to the GOP which allowed fiscal conservatives and Libertarians to sneak in. In case you haven't noticed the Nevada GOP just dumped gay marriage opposition from their state party platform and other states will soon follow. Abortion will always be a GOP issue since unlike gay marriage there are reasonable arguments for limiting abortion. By 2020 gay marriage will no longer be on the national platform at this rate. Hell even popular social conservatives like Walker are backtracking their support for anti-gay marriage amendments.

Furthermore, the next gen of Republicans under 30 support gay rights and the leadership of the GOP is well aware of that. Social conservatives are dying out and good riddance because you guys are no different than liberals are. Both of you just can't help constantly bossing people around and telling them how to live their lives. The only thing that makes liberals worse is that they want to control just about EVERY aspect of peoples lives while social conservatives are a bit more limited in scope. Both of you need to get up out of mine and other peoples business either way.
