The stupidity of the list your quoted (and wrote?) is that it presents singular (relatively) recent incidents which alone do absolutely nothing to support the claim of a general decline from some undefined moral high-point. The other problem is that it is largely based on perception and reporting of incidents and not necessarily the reality of what is (and previous was) happening.

The author is indeed American -- but he's a nutcase posting his thoughts on the web, not someone to be taken seriously. First clue: the name of his website is "The Economic Collapse". This isn't someone coming at events with an open mind -- this is a guy who already has reached his conclusion, and everything he says will support that conclusion, even if the facts don't fit.

Smart americans can see the cause for the implosion of social order, for it isn't actually rocket science.

The society a young person grows up in conditions them. If you look at America, and understand that the way it is, is conditioning the youth, we can only expect it to remain as rotten as it is, or to even get worse. And if you think that the sort of society one lives in doesn't condition, you have no understanding whatsoever of what our ancestors knew all too well. The reason that we controlled what the young saw on tv, in film, is because it conditions them. And then we went all stupid, and thought you could wash clothes in dirty water and get clean clothes.

Having a decent society, an ethical one, comes with hard work, and conditioning people to be decent, ethical. For it just doesn't happen naturally.

Just look at what popular culture is conditioning people to be. I was not conditioned to be what popular culture finds good today. I was conditioned by two parents, by my church, by my school, by my neighbors to be moral, ethical, personally responsible and socially responsible. I was conditioned to be in that manner by tv programming and by the movies. Immorality was not put up as exciting, but looked down on. And you cannot say that about this society today.
