Obama: Police need training to distinguish gang banger from kid in a hoodie

Well, no duh!

That's not the real story here, though.

What the real story is that the first half-black President is given a pass for publicly saying this while any white President would have been called a racist and they would have been hounded 24/7 for days, weeks and even years for that comment.

 

Why would you not want the police to be able to tell who the bad guys are? How is that racist? What exactly is wrong with the POTUS wanting to train police to be aware of the cultures of the communties which they serve, even if it is minority?

 

Because there is no such training...........

They don't wear identifiable uniforms..........

 

I 100% agree with what the president has said here.

What I can't figure out is why would anyone disagree with what he said?

You just don't know what to look for.

That's the purpose of the training.

 

I think he was referring to the "Minority communities typically are subject to more crime" part of the speech. Its inclusion in the thread title suggests this.

Amazing that Obama places no onus on the black community themselves.....he never asks why they have so much more crime in their communities. He never addresses the lack of fathers in the community and how so many of the women have kids with different fathers and never marry. IOW's, there IS no family structure or foundation. And there would be less need for police IF there were substantial changes in these communities. No one....and especially not Obama....is insisting on any changes from them.

Obama asks nothing from this community; NOTHING. And until he or someone INSISTS on changes from them.....nothing will ever change.

I would also say, people need to not dress like gangsters if they do not want to be treated like gangsters\thugs\whatever, and sadly real gangsters\thugs have stolen the hoodie as part of their culture, so I would avoid the hoodie, at least for now.... better safe than sorry

Because Obama is strictly against profiling which does this exact thing.

He is the worlds biggest hypocrites.

Its like he wants people to have some sort of magic power that lets them identify criminals rather than using the tools we know that work.

 

I think I would be less likely to make good snap decisions in a black neighborhood in South Philly than I would in my hometown. I think some people just see evil in everything Obama says or does.

This is true. He could announce that he is going to breakfast and some would make an issue of it.

But he has begged for the criticism directed this way.

He lost the respect of most of us as a man of any kind of conviction with myriad flip flops for political expediency. So we no longer believe what he says about what he believes.

He gained the contempt of many when he looked directly into the camera and again and again and again told the people lie after lie in order to get them to peaceably conform to his agenda.

He earned our disgust when again and again he insisted he didn't know anything about the stuff hitting the fan--he was out of the loop, it was above his pay grade, he wasn't told, he wasn't involved, he found out about it in the papers the same way everybody else did, etc. And once he insists that it isn't acceptable and he will get to the bottom of it, it is no time at all that he is accusing the loyal opposition of creating phony scandals.

He knows darn well that the gang banger in a hoodie is going to look no different than a non-gang member in a hoodie. And there is no training available to any police force in the world that can make that distinction. This is just another case of him pandering to a constituency with no substance of any kind behind his remarks.

 

Actually both the President and the First Lady have both spoken on blacks improving themselves, you just chose to ignore it.

 

Obama needs training on how to not jump into a case before the facts come out. He looked really stupid for sticking up for Trayvon Martin when the facts came out.

As proven in court, it's your right to use lethal force if your life is in immediate danger. Having a 6 foot tall athletic wanna-be thug hurling at you in a fit of rage is easily an understandble time to pull the trigger in self defense. As proven in court.
