Illegals lower wages because competition lowers prices to the benefit of the consumer. If you restrict competition and create regional monopolies - prices will rise. [hr][/hr] Where I disagree is that this is a justification for such restriction of competition. The same is true of any industry: steel, healthcare, automobiles - if you protect your goods/services from competition in the market, that helps producers at the expense of consumers.

CBO estimates that fixing our broken immigration system will reduce federal deficits by about $200 billion over the next 10 years, and about $700 billion in the second decade. From the link you've posted: Under the Affordable Care Act, that means businesses who hire them (newly minted legal illegal aliens) wont have to pay a penalty for not providing them health coverage making them $3,000 more attractive than a similar native-born worker, whom the business by law would have to cover. High skilled immigrants don't come to the United States. The US generally gets Mexico's undesired populace - those that are unskilled or those that just want to live on welfare. Oh and the best part is that the majority of "immigrants" from Mexico have ZERO loyalty to the United States and the money they make here goes straight to Mexico, boosting Mexico's economy.
