It's time to stop rewarding people for having children and start taking them anyway

My idea is a long-term view as to how we can remain competitive. It's also a starting point. I'm open to criticism and ideas of how to mold it.

Yes, if you cant afford your first child what are you doing having sex? Everyone reading this knows only abstinence is 100%. First one is on the house, the second one is your problem. Perhaps people like you could donate to a fund and pay for the next 2-8 children out of your own pockets. I wonder how long your ideology would last then?

No, I actually think an option of abortion or adoption is probably more appropriate. Do you have a plan to reprimand these women for choosing to have babies they know they cannot afford? Or do you think they have the right to put as many babies as they want onto the taxpayer? Right now, we're rewarding these women for irresponsible behavior and the only things I hear from the left are to give them more money. People aren't that much different then pigeons, if you feed them once they come back for more.

Imho there should be a limit to the number of sons because the land is already overpopulated but we shoudln't tell people to not have children at all because they are poor... that would be most humiliating for those who are already unlucky by themselves.

What's your argument exactly? That abstinence is the only completely full-proof means of birth control? How does that change the fact that it has not been effective in convincing people to take that road? Also, teen pregnancies are down due to the availability of contraception and sex education, not because of abstinence only initiatives.

What is exactly does "people like me" mean anyway? I pay taxes which goes towards some things that I approve of and some that I don't, but that's the way it works. I also live in a state that pays far more Federal taxes than other states, but again...that's the way it works. I certainly approve of tax dollars going towards education (including sex education) because I believe that equal opportunity education lifts everyone out of situations that would otherwise be hopeless and improves the country as a whole.

Public education isn't lifting people out of anything in many areas of this country. Why? Because the kids have no role models and bad parents.

And that is why you will advocate for government forced abortions, stealing of infants and here's one you didn't mention yet...forced sterilization of particular men and women.

Why does it matter if we "remain competitive"? Are we to all toil away our lives as slaves for the national tax revenue because that alone is more important that our mere peon existence?

Just who is it that is going to decide that parents can't afford their first child and shouldn't have sex? What are those people going to do about it? Are you actually suggesting an entity with enough power to take away infants, force abortions and sterilizations?

Sorry, but that's just too much power to be put into anyone's hands.

If we don't get with the program we'll all be the slaves of the Chinese one day. We can either start buying into a long-term agenda now or wait until it's too late. I for one am not for letting emotion get in the way of American exceptionalism. There are leaders and then there are followers, I don't want America to be a follower. This means that we need a vibrant economy and can't be overwhelmed by the welfare state.

    - - - Updated - - -

Then we'll continue to have a massive welfare state and/or high crime. We will continue to creep down the world rankings as we settle for 2nd/3rd/4th etc. This might be your vision of America, but it's not mine.

Is your vision of America one in which the government takes over people's lives and dictates when and how many children they might have?

Yes, my vision is much, much different from that extremely liberal big government society. Just because China has discovered how to make their economy grow does not mean we should emulate the way their government works.

Individuals need to make decisions affecting themselves and then live with the consequences.

The problems arise when the consequences effect others which they inevitably do.

The community needs to pressure fathers to be more than sperm donors. Yet their is little to no outrage in these communities. Wonder why?

I resent the denial of science and the denial of the affects of climate change and yet I and others are forced to live with the horrible decisions and consequeces of corporate puppets. That issue is having a much more devestating affect on the planet and country than the issue you have determined is the end of civization.

There is no argument. Its very simple. If you cant afford your first child then whatever irresponsible decisions you make after that are your problem not ours.
When I say people like you, I mean people who think we should keep paying for these people to have litters of welfare children. Ive seen it time and time again. Spread the children out, all from different fathers in order to milk the system. Enough is enough. Ill help pay for the first one after that if you or people like you want to keep paying then do so out of your own pockets. Surely there is enough people like you who will support your own ideology. Right?

The consequences of people having babies that they can't take care of do, indeed, affect the rest of us. So, what do we do about it? For one thing, sex education and ready availability of contraception has been proven to reduce the numbers of unwanted babies. That's where most of the effort needs to be placed.

For another, it needs to be clearly understood that having more babies won't result in more income for the family, and then policies put into place to see to it that they don't.

But, a government deciding who may or may not reproduce is nothing we need to see in the land of the free, not ever.

Sorry I don't do strawman posters anymore for the same reason I don't condone your support of child molesters.

It's easier to blame others take responsibility for yourself. Ideally this would happen. Nobody would make a baby through sex anymore. Instead everybody would freeze their sperm/embryo, get sterilized, and the baby would either grow in a lab or be placed in the mother.

Better read the thread before accusing me of making strawman arguments.

How do you propose to implement your ideology? Let me know so that
I can stop my federal tax dollars from being doled out to the red states that eat the lion's share, but pay in less.

Really, how will you advocate for your plan be put into feasible practice?

I have read it. Now quote where I said that or retract the comment or quote the source correctly. If I didn't say that then this is your second strawman in a row only now you've been intentionally deceitful in the strawman process..

So back to the beginning of this thread. If a child is born that the parent cannot afford (which I do not condone btw) you are saying that the society should allow the child to starve, go without medical care and not be afforded the right of publicly funded education. Did I get that right?

NO. The child will never starve or go without medical care. You will have the choice to either pay for it yourself or hand the child over to DSS yourself where it can go into a foster home where people who can properly take care of the child will do so. If you choose to starve the child we have a solution for that as well. Its called jail.
There should be consequences for irresponsible behavior and losing your children will solve this welfare mommy career in short order.
