surrendering it to some preacher man or other bser. religionists should all be shot for brainwashing little kids. Teaching kids ANYTHING about religion should be illegal before the kids are at least 13, and MAYBE then capable of choosing for themselves, instead of being taken advantage of before they can think.

I would reduce that age to 9, personally. I think most 9 year olds are capable of spotting untruths, even when uttered by authority figures. I'm not sure I'd make it illegal, as such, but I'd very keen to see it considered as something of a taboo. It is an awful thing to do to impressionable young minds, after all. Of course the supporters of indoctrination will say it's no different to teaching kids not to touch a hot stove. I think they actually believe it's the same thing as guidance and discipline. If some genuinely can't tell the difference between "a hot stove (which is real and tangible, will burn your fingers and they might blister and hurt for a few days/weeks" and "if you don't worship a particular invisible magical being who lives in the sky you will be burned over and over again for eternity", then I suspect such folk are a lost cause.

The big problem with that is that then maybe we shouldn't teach our children ANYTHING (politics, abortion beliefs, manners, which soccer team is best and which soccer team is evil, etc., that parents always seem to "teach" their children),which is of course not sensible. The best way is create atheist parents, then problem solved. They'll teach the kid that they love him, and not that they'll hate him so much if he dares to pick a different religion, or turns out to be gay, that he DESERVES eternal torture (after all, Jesus can't be wrong, correct?)

Jesus and Mohammad endorsed totalitarian political schemes, because they weren't "divine" enough to know any better (just common men, really) but Modern Secular Humanists are better because they support democracy, so I don't really like a law that forces people to do this or do that - (well, as much freedom as possible is what I'm trying to say. (Yeah, look at my username.)

So please list all the places in the Qur'an and Bible that democracy was specifically championed....or did, say Jesus, approve of totalitarian political schemes like kings, instead? Jesus doesn't seem too bright. But Sam Harris, on the other hand, he gets it (democracy is the best way.)

I know of a certain prophet who thought 9 year-olds were good for more than just that.....

So many people are dying lately in the name of religion. I am so glad that it's dying... at least in the West.
