So convincing! A group of about 40 people out of 10,000 protesters? And I'm not even sure of what exactly they were chanting! But leave it to Fox News to report on the worse "exception" rather than the general and PEACEFUL protests demanding accountancy from our police force!

And I thought you were a libertarian!

You didn't have that same response when just a handful of protesters had racist signs at the ever so neat and orderly TEA Party protests.

I am a independent, there certain liberal social positions I agree with, but none of those involve spending tax payer money.

New York strangle death is definitely questionable, Brown getting shot is nothing more than a punk ass loser saving our legal system a good deal of money

Its not so peaceful. Blocking traffic and preventing people from getting home to work or doing business is more harmful than good.

Cry more about that the only reason more black people get arrested is because all cops are racist and not because black people actually commit a disproportionate percentage of crime, which logically leads to more arrests and in turn a higher chance for something to go wrong. Instead of crying, whining and complaining, maybe some people should look inward and realize the source of the problem and its not the cops.

Here is a foolproof way to avoid being killed resisting an officer--don't resist.

Her is another piece of information--the only reason a grand jury was presented all of the evidence in Ferguson is to show the public all of the evidence. A prosecutor could, just as easily, have made the obvious decision that there was no winnable case. Mobs do not indict in this country.

Get back with me when a guy, black or otherwise kills a cop and spends two hours testifying to a jury without cross examination

That's a gross misuse of official police power and the Sheriff should be removed from office.

The take down officer had his arm around Garners neck for about 15 seconds. If he weren't Morbidly Obese with asthma, he might be alive today. Had he just surrendered to the arrest he would be surely be alive. Those were his choices to make.

yep, I'm sure the grand jury seen and heard a mountain of evidence we're not privy to. My comment was just going off the original video. Brown was a lie from the start

I'm not a lawyer but maybe there was nothing to cross examine? What new evidence would have come out besides the defense attorney trying to lead the officer into admitting he was racist because that was the only thing the defense had. The cop did what he had to after being attacked. Try to steal a cops gun and you get killed. Sounds fine by me.

I have two things to tell you about that- 1) the grand jury will indict him anyway; and 2) his lawyer is a fool!

I have one thing to add to what you have said: In the words of a police procedure expert, regarding the Garner death in NY, "you resist an officer and bad things can happen!" Appropriate emphasis added.

Apparently you’ve missed the point, they took the witness stand in their own defense without being crossed, if it was your dad cocked to death for resisting arrest and you had film that shows he was not resisting wouldn’t you have a few questions?

No, I haven't missed anything. You are talking about things of which you know nothing. I have both been a police officer who improvidently failed to use the force necessary to subdue a suspect and still don't know why I didn't die for it, and a prosecutor who presented cases to grand juries. The police get a pass to some extent because of the things that they are expected, and required, to do in representing us. It is not a get out of jail free pass, but we do not Monday-morning-quarterback them to the extent that we would someone who is not required to be in harm's way, but chooses to be.

When a person is ordered to submit to the authority of our government, in the person of the officers that we commission to enforce our laws, all he has to do is consent to be accused. He gives that consent simply by remaining in this country. If he does not wish to consent, then he is free to leave. If he does stay, he submits. I do and so do you. Once accused, he has an opportunity to be heard and freed, if he is right and the authorities are wrong; and they have the burden of proof. When you break the social contract by refusing to be accused and arrested, you have no right to,by your resistance, create a greater risk to the lives of the officers that we employ. If someone's life and limb are to be at risk when you resist, then the vast majority of us believe that it should be yours, and that will not change, no matter how emphatically you assert your right to disobey and resist.

One great big smokescreen that says nothing. He never resisted. And the cop is a scumbag murderer who was surrounded by complacent fools who did not rise to the occasion and do the right thing. All we are left with is a dead guy and BS excesses and BS rationalizations, not to mention the cost to the tax payers in the form of law suits……….cops are in harm’s way because they choose to be, they have spent much of their lives preparing for it, that’s what they get paid to do. It’s time for them to remember what it means to be professional, hell I could shot people as quickly as they do and save the tax payers a boat load, however I think people deserve better than me

Those atrocities, as horrific as they are, apparently don't fit the narrative; and are not to be mentioned.

Said exactly like someone in an armchair--someone who will never have to deal with these situations, probably because he couldn't pass the background check OR the psych eval.

Garner can clearly be seen pushing away the officers trying to take him into custody. No healthy human would be killed by the force that was used in the video that I saw.

And by the way, why does the media presume, in its reporting, that the term homicide means a deliberate murder. An Internet site defines it that way, however, traditional usage AND Webster (and the Latin derivatives, also) define it only as the killing of one human by another, without any culpability or scienter implied?
