Nasty politics in NYC

Let's get some facts straight here about the latest cop killings in NYC:

1. Brinsley had a criminal rap sheet and a history of mental illness. His own mother was scared of him, and had warned the local police of his pending actions (subsequently, he shot his girlfriend before coming to NY). Baltimore cops had sent an alert to the NYPD, but it came too late. It has been established that he had no ties to any organization and acted solely on his own warped view of reality.

2. Factions in the NYPD have never like Mayor DeBlasio, who was the public advocate before he became Mayor. The PA's job is to critique city administrations and their competence in delivering services to the people. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/tag/public-advocate-bill-de-blasio/
Under Giuliani, cops got unwavering support EVEN WHEN THEY WERE CAUGHT DOING WRONG (look up cases concerning Dorismond, Diallo).

3. Lynch & Mullins both have made inaccurate and volatile statements.....Lynch stupidly blaming DeBlasio for the deaths of officers Ramos and Liu for speaking truth to power about schooling his son on how to mind how he interacts with cops because he is black, and how he recognized the legitimate gripes of the Brown protestors. Mullins doing the same.....but note that Mullins had previously made a false warning about a black prison gang threatening NYC cops, and then the local press initially tried to link Brinsley to that gang via speculation (which proved false).

Essentially, for factions of the NYPD brass and local "conservative" politico's and pundits, this is about making sure DeBalsio is not re-elected, and getting back to a comfort zone they had under Giuliani.....to use a murder committed by a nut case is just disgusting.

 

I have not found anything the mayor said to be remotely anti-cop. This is being way blown out of proportion and you are correct as to it being political.

Yup. A mother shouldn't have to worry when her son leaves home to rob a convenience store whether he'll ever return home at all.

And especially never fight with a cop when you suspect your urine concentration of THC metabolite exceeds 235 nanograms per ml. The Gentle Giant was stoned so far out of his gourd on that much marijuana that he was hallucinating. He must have thought he was Superman and the bullets Wilson was firing at him were just bouncing off of him. At least until the eyeshot.

 

Bull(*)(*)(*)(*). A loose tongue can be a very dangerous thing. Words have started wars. DeBlasio was asserting that the police department is inherently racist. Those kinds of words can be fire to someone who is wears a tinfoil hat and buys into the media's hype. You know how many people I stopped for illegal window tints who accused me of racism. I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THROUGH THE WINDOWS. It is becoming borderline absurd lately. Worse off, the last few weeks I have had people proclaim that they didn't stop because they decided that they did nothing wrong! Can't make this (*)(*)(*)(*) up. Seriously, this anti-police mentality lately is over the top and people are becoming emboldened by it.

 

I totally agree. De Blasio let the protesters do whatever they wanted. As Giuliani said, it was a lesson in what NOT to do. You cannot shut down bridges and major thoroughfares because emergency vehicles must be able to get through. Cops were assaulted. De Blasio has given the city to Sharpton and the unions. He is an arrogant whacko!

 

The racist accusation is so freely thrown out there these days that DeBlasio can publicly tell his half-black son that the police would treat him differently because of the color of his skin and no one bats an eye. Apparently accusing the cops of being a racist group isnt being "remotely anti-cop"....give me a freakin break...

 

Only 24% of New Yorkers even bothered to vote for mayor in 2013. It was a record low.

 

DeBlasio is just following Obama's lead. Note that Sharpton of Twana Brawley, the Korean Grocers and the Yankel Rosenbaum murder fame is right there alongside both mixing it up for them in equal dollops of "Show me the money" performances.
At least one of you, by the appearance of this morning's treeper bumper sticker, knows that Obama and Holder knew all the details of the Brown shooting incident on August 18th, that Wilson was lawfully defending himself in the Brown incident, but both chose to pursue further inciting of the mobs to riot while aiding and abetting the Black Grievance Industry. Obama truly does want this next civil war with its likely one hundred million dead Americans. Its a win-win for Obama, America becomes severely, or even grievously, weakened while Obama's ISIS brethren are inversely empowered. Whats a Community Organizer for? Especially this one who can truthfully call arch Communist Frank Marshall Davis "Dad"
Bolshevik Bill deBlasio was just too glad to help Comrade Barack along in Barack's plans for America's "Fundamental Transformation" amassing party creds for a 2016 run for the oval office himself thinking that America might even be ready to accept an openly avowed Communist candidate for president instead of a stealth candidate. That is, if there's even anything left of the country.

Not any of these incidents had anything to do with race, including Trayvon Martin, but it has everything to do with the police doing their job, and the court system working the way it should. Which racist accusation? The mayor spoke the truth about parents of black children having to have a "the talk" with them. I live in NYC so I do pay close attention to the politics here and nothing he said, regardless if the smears from the partisan hacks of right wing media, were extraordinary. This crap is totally political.

Who in their right mind would ask a liberal to identify a racist. They can't identify President Obama or Eric Holder or Al Sharpton as racists. A socialist--or communist--mayor could lead a KKK rally and the leftists wouldn't identify him as a racist.

I agree with the previous poster. If Rahm Emanuel warned his son about black people there would be hell to pay. He might not have been mugged but there would still be hell to pay. Rahm will always sacrifice his son to his political career.

Half of the morons couldn't tell you the difference between their ass and their elbow. I was at those protests, most of the morons didn't even know the name of the people they were protesting for.

There is more to it than simple election politics.

This is the culmination of "progressive" policies - not election politics. Its happening in all the major cities ruled by "progressives" who made the big cities their private vote collection machine. They ruined public education, ruined the economy of the inner cities, and ruled the politics of the big cities with brutal political machines which insure only the inner anointed ones ever hold power. The people are trapped with no way out and no hope, and no appeal.

This could have happened in any of dozens of cities, NYC is not unique.

Exactly. Just like when the left blamed Sara Palin for the lunatic shooting Gabby Giffords, now people are taking a play out of that same book to Blame Diblasio. Im far from a fan of his, but to say he has blood on his hands is just tribalism/us vs them bull(*)(*)(*)(*).
