So Brian Williams saw a body float by, face-down, in the French Quarter despite the fact that the French Quarter didn't flood and his hotel, which was being used as a staging area for the police was somehow overrun by gangs?

It's a lie and especially heinous when people put their trust in a person who is supposed to be providing them the news in an honest way. If the person lies, despite it not being a criminal offense, they break that trust. Why should they believe anything he says now or in the past?

I don't see this as overly complex. Stop watching NBC news if you believe Brian Williams has lost all credibility. I never watched to begin with, so his credibiity is not a factor in my daily life one way or the other.

 

If she really thought that there could be sniper fire, why would she have endangered her daughter? Do these people think that they will really get away with the lies or is it an obsessive-compulsive defect that Libs have?

Which one had a bigger effect my life directly? I was activated as an Air Force reservist to support the war in Iraq. No weapons of mass destruction were found. Clearly somone lied, perhaps not the President but someone he trusted. "It's a slam dunk, Saddam has WMD." None were found.

What I don't get is saying, oh well only Liberals lie about stuff, only Leftist news sights lie about things. Brian Williams lied. I get that. He was nohwere near the actual helicopters that took fire that day. He lied to embellish the events, to make him seem like a bad ass. I get that this affects his credibiltty..but frankly whether his helicopter got hit or not does not effect my life one iota. What effected my life directly was the claim Saddam Hussein's regime has weapons of mass destruction, he is not cooperating with UN inspectors, we're going to invade his nation on account of this.

Somebody lied about that.

So if the folks on here are going to tell me that only Liberals lie, Consevatives are angelic, they never lie...not the newscasters, not the Presidents, not the Congressman...

I was deployed two times in support of OIF, one for 90 days and one for 120 days...someone lied to me.

There is no doubt that Hussein had and used WMDs. There is also proof he shipped them to Syria when we did our Desert Storm.

My problem with stuff like this is the constant diversion of threads to fall back on the same old "Buishj was responsible for..... crap. What the hell does that have to do with Williams being outed as an outright liar?

But Saddam did have chemical weapons, Chemical Ali sure as hell didn't gas Kurds with farts. Also it wasn't the executive office that got the intel, that was what was relayed to them just like it was relayed to Hillary.

Saddam did also have WMD's, granted they were from the 80's and deteriorating, but he still lied claiming he had not a one. Those WMD's still caused casualties, and obviously still very dangerous.

So what is the moral of the story here kids? the only time a liberal can tell a half truth is when they hear it from someone else, mostly everything else that comes out of their mouth is an outright lie when they speak of their own behalf..

I already said he had them way back when he gassed the Kurds, and my opinion is that is when we should have dealt with him. A decade plus later and there was no proof he still had any, all the old stock piles found later were all old and not safe to even handle not to mention use it is why our military blew it in place because it was so old and unstable as to be too dangerous.
As I often say, half truths are still lies and to ignore the mountain of facts to repeat a known lie is often used by party hacks that have no facts to stand on, no matter how hard some would like to rewrite history the facts remain the same none the less.

Dan Rather went with falsified documents pertaining to President Bush's Air National Guard service records. That is a fireable offense. There is what as known as due diligence and Dan Rather did not verify the documents prior to leaking them and claiming it as evidence.

Brian Williams goes on talk shows and makes the claim "oh yeah this helicopter I was riding in, got fired upon, we had to make an emergency landing." He's an arse, he knows it was a lie, but he figured well nobody's going to verify it. Someone did. Williams' response? Oh that's right, it wasn't my helicopter, gosh it was such a long time ago I forgot it was someone elses helicopter. He's an arse.

In my opinion, Dan Rather did. He may have thought the documents were legit but they weren't. He was so eager to put Bush in the tank he failed on due diligence.

What Brian Williams is guilty of is being a blowhard. He was in fact in Iraq in 2003. He did in fact ride aboard a military Chinook helicopter. The helicopter was not fired upon, it did not make an emergency landing. He lied about that part of the story. A personal anecdote that wasn't really a news story in the strictest sense.

I'm used to blowhards...the guys that killed 50 people with their barehands, and were trained snipers..when in fact they were probably peeling potatoes in some Army kitchen. I take it with a grain of salt. Everybody wants to play the hero and this is what Williams' did. Was it right? No. Were the consequences catastrophic, say on par with lying about a President's service record to falsely incriminate him? No.

He should have owned it, instead of playing dumb. I get that. Again though, to me it's not that big of a deal, as I don't watch NBC Nightly news anyway. Occasionally I'll see him on a talk show. He got busted in an embellishment of the truth, I don't see it as the end of the World quite frankly.

 

Your handlers are happy at the way you segued to Fox News when Williams works for NBC. Kudos!
