He was going off of intelligence reports given to him.

Do you realize that Obama claimed Benghazi happened because of a video and that this is what the intelligence community told him?

Are you accusing Obama of lying also?

What he said was this and it was true.

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.

So either they all lied or they were all a bunch of incompetent morons, I think it is a combination of the two. The point is the person in the position to make the final choice on what to do sits in the Whitehouse and the results whether good or bad belong in their lap. I believe that person was Bush.

It is fine to blame him for it since it was ultimately his decision but for the left to claim he lied about it is just nonsense.

He had to make a call based on the information he had.

Consider the risk if he did nothing and the intelligence did turn out to be correct, we could have faced chemical and biological attacks all over the nation. Considering the massive terrorist attack, and the audacity of it, is it hard to imagine something else just as outrageous happening from Saddam?

And remember, Saddam had used these WMD's in the past while also being on record as saying he had every intention of destroying the US.

Now you have the intelligence community given you a 90% probability that Saddam was going to do something and how in the world would you expect any president not to act on that information?

They would be stupid not to.

Now you can say that Bush went about it wrong and I also do not agree that the war was a good idea but something needed to be done.

    The evidence was overwhelming.

The US should invade countries because they send weapons to other countries?

You can stop with the excuses because Bush himself admitted that the intelligence was wrong.

Nope. A Republican-led investigation showed that the reaction to the video was a factor in the Benghazi attack.

Yes it may have been wrong but Bush did not know that at the time.

His source was a single person and the information obtained was through torture. It should have been assumed false.

4,000 Americans lost their lives for nothing. Sickening.

that was not the only statement he made and even that one was inaccurate. The intelligence reports to which he referred contained plenty of caveats and qualifiers as to the existence of stockpiles of WMD's. Those statements that expressed absolute certainty were lies, because, at the time they were spoken, uncertainty certainly did exist and everyone who said otherwise knew that that uncertainty did exist.

    - - - Updated - - -

He DID know that it was not "certain". He DID know that there were some degrees of doubt, yet he and his team repeatedly said "there is no doubt". those were lies.

Why are you mentioning them? Don't you remember Colin Powell trying to convince the UN that Iraq had WMDs with his diagrams in the General Assembly? It was cartoonish... literally.

    .

Doesn't that sound like Obama blaming the Benghazi terrorists attack on a video, no one ever heard of until Obama pointed it out. America's intelligence agencies were well aware of al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden announced war on the West in the 1990's yet Clinton did nothing about the multiple attacks, just as Clinton kept braying about Saddam's WMD. One would have to say that the Democrats were the liars.

No I do not. That's something iv'e never heard of, and I have read a lot about this over the years.

But you might want to consider this article about how the UN came across intelligence reports of its own:

The convoys of military vehicles leaving Iraq in droves just prior to the invasion sure suggests that. Wouldn't you think?

nuff said. Bush and his cohorts wanted that war when they were elected, they were determined to have that war. That war would have occurred without 9/11. Do some research on PNAC, they were quite direct in their goals.

The lie that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction fell apart on the left wingers. But they don't care. Whatever they can use to justify their position of the moment is what they'll use whether it's a lie or not.

It was especially funny when the left tried to use WMD transferred to Syria from Iraq as the justification for the initial call for air strikes against Syria.

old rusty long degraded chemical weapons canisters. Do you really think that America would have been behind spending $2T and suffering 40K casualties in order to get rid of some rusty old chemical weapons artillery shells from the Iran-Iraq war? DO you really think those would have made a "mushroom cloud over an American city"?

It's very likely they were quite usable a dozen years ago!
