China long ago abandoned the ideals of mao zedong and embraced western culture and capitalism. They now have a ruling wealthy elite class of billionaires who have investments in america and europe. Wealthy chinese even send their children to english style etiquette classes so that they become more westernized. I have to ask the question of why do people have this notion that china is an enemy and is planning a military attack? Its mainly asian countires like japan, vietnam, taiwan that seem to have the greatest fear of chinas military. Yet I have to wonder why a country like china whose only concern is amassing wealth would ever do anything that would put themselves in the position that Russia is now in. Russia is a desperate country with a failing economy and is becoming less and less of a world power. That is why they made the desperate move in Ukraine and america responded with crippling sanctions. Yes there is the political issue of the south china sea yet I can't help but find it silly that people actually think it would ever explode into a major military conflict. When I look at the wealthy chinese elite I don't see zealous communist nationals who are looking to expand and take over the world. All I see is greedy chinese businessman who want to make as much money as possible before they die of old age. They are so money driven, capitalist and greedy they will pollute and destroy their own environment just to amass more wealth. My opinion is this fear of china is being drummed up by Japan. Japan is a country that is in serious decline as a world power. Their population is shrinking they have an aging population along with an unsustainable entitlement system. They have massive debt and a shrinking GDP. Like Russia Japan is a desperate country. Japan is jealous of the power that china is now wielding. China is a country that Japan once dominated during the Japanese empire. Of course the Japanese empire was a brief footnote in human history since they were soundly defeated by america. Yet the Japanese still remember when they were once a major power. As china gains more power and influence in asia the japanese become more resentful. So what do they do? They visit shrines dedicated to their war criminals and they deny having committed atrocities during world war 2. Then they try to spread fear among other asian countries that china is planning to attack. China launching a military invasion of other asian countries like japan, taiwan is just pure fantasy. Its ridiculous and its silly. About the only thing china threatens is the environment. I'm guessing if they take over the south china sea they'll just overfish and pollute it.
China is ruled by the arrogant Han Chinese, they cannot be trusted. They have enslaved the Tibetians, the Ughurs and many more ethinic groups. They also think of themselves as superior to all others, and hate with a passion the nation of Japan. They are arming themselves to the teeth, and are willing to lose 200 million men to achieve their goals. If it were up to me I would Nuke China and expand the Gobi.

Yes you are correct in that the Han Chinese are oppressive. Just like America oppresses and violates the rights of american citizens. It is human nature to always prey on people who are weaker. Yet this is an insignificant point you bring up. This is because uighurs, tibetans are insignificant minorities in china and have no political impact whatsoever on chinese politics. These minorities are alot like african americans or other minorities here in america. They are marginalized and politically insignificant. The only people that matter in china are the han chinese princelings and the billionaries. Their only interests are amassing wealth not creating war that would put their wealth in jeopardy. You make the moral argument yet morals have nothing to do with the likelihood of war breaking out. Its all about money man. I do find your comment about the uighurs and tibetans fascinating. Really the issue of the subjegated minorities isn't all that new. Look at how African Amerians have been mistreated by whites here in America. It is human nature to mistreat and victimize those who are percieved as being weaker.
I will be honest, I do not care about the Ughurs or Tibetians at all. But it seemed like a good way to demonize the Han, so that my plans to nuke them would be more palletable.
My "fear" of the Chinese is not about them invading people. That's America's job. It's that their moral compass is like that of America back in the late 1800's and early 1900's: It aims solely in the direction of money. They will rape and pillage and destroy everything in thier path for fun and profit. The difference between them now and us in 1899 is that they are way bigger and way more powerful, so the damage will be exponentially larger.
For americans looking at china now is alot like looking in the mirror. Its good to know china will be just as monsterous and greedy as america. Now china will take over as the new world leader and keep the world on the path of greed, destruction and misery. First the romans, then the english, then the americans, now the chinese. Who knows with global warming this might be the last empire before humanities extinction. Theres always hope right
Humans will destroy the world one way or the other. Maybe China will see the light quicker than we did. We are incredibly slow learners.
