I agree, but as a whole, the Christians don't seem nearly as violent. They try to use law and elections. Islam uses terrorist tactics.

At one time, I would have disagreed entirely about the Christians, but having been a member of several forums in the past few years, I have come to realize that SOME Christians are indeed hateful and bigoted people.

I have to admit though, that I would trust a Christian more than someone who practices Islam. I know that makes ME sound bigoted, but I can't help how I feel. *shrugs*

The police would locate and interview the current husband or ex husband no matter what, given your hypothetical about the missing spouse. In addition, the police would also look at co workers, friends, etc as well where and when she was last seen.

The point is that no conclusions about the spouse would be made until there is some evidence to reasonably draw the conclusion with facts being verified and re verified. .

If we add ot your hypothetical that both spouses were Muslim, the poice would not automatically assume that this was an honor killing, would they? Or if the both spouses were ultra conservative Evangelical, the police would not assume the woman went back home to her parents. Would they?

Actually, the west DOES want a caliph. and I'll tell you why. Christianity has a pope, and while he only presides over Catholics, his world views are taken very seriously by a wide variety of people. A Caliph would do the same, and probably modernize Islam into a more western friendly religion.

Individuals take on their religion doesn't stain the whole religion, Christianity is guilty of horrid crimes including genocide throughout the ages, but individual Christians aren't to blame. (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s exist, it's time people recognize that (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s are everywhere, in every religion, in every political stripe, absolutely everywhere.

Since we are talking about possibilities, we cannot deny other possibilities no matter how far stretched they may be, right? And if we cannot exclsue any possibility, then everyone, by your argument, is bad. Right?

I think it's only natural that a lot of people would think it had something to do with Islam, given the history of hijacking planes. I think that pretty much everyone comes to assumptions based on their own experiences and opinions in most cases. Then, if proven wrong, so be it.

not all middle eastern people make me feel that way, but if they look a little off and middle eastern it would (and their religion could be either, I would have no way of knowing by their looks)

same is true of blacks or whites that look like gangsters.. they could just be well off people dressed badly (motorcycle gangs often are) or youngsters role-playing, but I still avoid them if possible....

I work with a few middle eastern people being in IT, and get along with them fine, they are good people, but I know what your saying

heck, if I see a mob of teens I avoid them, regardless of what they look like ;)

is that right, do I like feeling that way, no, but I will trust my instincts and avoid those situations best I can just the same

..what? I'm not sure how your gleaning this from my posts, but no. Talking about 2 possibilities doesn't automatically mean you have to examine an possible reason that could ever be conceived.

The FIRST person they want to interview is the husband. Why is that? The questions they ask family and coworkers will include those about the husband, why is that?

There would still have to be some evidence to suggest that such as internet chatter or a group claiming resosonsibility.

WE currently have the disappearance of AirAsia airline out of Indonesia, which is a Muslim Country. There was MH317 that also disappeared from Malaysia, also a Muslim country. The problem with internet rumors that the Russian, err Muslims, did it is like crying wolf when no wolf is around. It does not help nor does it contribute to the investigation outside looking in. It does, however, create hysteria, false leads, false reports, and so forth that makes it more difficult to actually solve the reason for the incident and may lead the case going cold due to the wasteful man hours hunting down any and every lead that is spread by internet rumor. .

    6 dead in 2008?

You know what? I don't really remember ever feeling that way before 9/11. I was only in my 20s when that happened. Maybe I'm just getting "jaded." All of the "hate America" and the "great satan" and terrorist attacks have really affected my feelings towards that particular group of people, even though I do realize that they cannot ALL be feeling that way.

Oh, I realize that the authorities performing an investigation have to keep an open mind and ignore leads that seem questionable, but for the regular people, like me, my first thought when I heard about this pilot was that he was a terrorist.

Not necessarily. For example, if it is known that the woman was in the presence of another person at the time of the incident, then that person would be first, not the Husband. The Husband would still be looked at, as number 2 and asked who was the person she was with. But it is not always the case.

YOu have to apply the facts to the circumstance, not the circumstance to the facts.

since this topic is about random acts of killings with no apparent motivation it seems disingenuous to connect it to gang activity in the inner city but have it your way imade my point.

that's not what this topic is about.

its about a severely mentally ill person committing suicide with a commercial airliner, something that has NEVER happened before.

now, if you want to talk about murders committed by specific ethnic groups, let's talk about the fact that blacks make up 13% of the USA but are responsible for 40% of our murders.

well I think the crazy religious fanatics that do this are mentally ill and suicidal too, they just want to kill themselves and think while doing it they served a purpose, as messed up as that may be

this guy while also mentally ill and suicidal did not want those that knew him to know he committed suicide, he wanted them to think he died trying to save people from crashing, as messed up as that may be

both had no issues murdering a plane load of people to accomplish their goals sadly, it was all about themselves getting what they wanted and trying to get people to believe what they wanted them to believe

the mental illness and suicidalness comes first, then something to cling onto to make themselves feel better about ending it, be it religion or the thought of loved ones thinking you died a hero or whatever else they come up with in their warped minds

    my two cents anyways....

I wish these kind people's skin turned green or something when they hit this stage, make it easy to spot them, but they come in all shapes, colors and sizes

    "born that way"????

    nice strawman argument.

does this include the black murderer Colin Ferguson?

does this also include all the black murderers that kill more than 1 victim during their murdering spree?

or do you ONLY care about white murderers, which your argument seems to be.

Oh please. If that were the case, then we would have mass murders and school shootings every single day. SOME people suffer from mental illnesses. That is all.

Of course, some people want to blame everyone else except for the actual murderer. They are criminal apologists or something. :blankstare: Rather annoying. People have free will and choices. If a person chooses to commit a murder because things are not going so well, then that person is a selfish psychopathic arse and NOT a "victim of society." We have to remember ALL the people who are much worse off than this supposed "victim of society" who do NOT commit crimes and murder people.

For goodness sake, I'm certainly not a wealthy person and I've struggled with a lot of different issues throughout my life. People have been unkind to me, etc., but I have never felt the need to kill anyone. That is such a lame arse cop out.

Sorry, I probably should have quoted Jonah, but whatever.
