I am not defending the woman at all. However, it is quite obvous you never been around drunk people, especially on 6th Street, Austin Texas during St. Patricks Day.

In some cases, when people get intoxicated, they turn into a completely different person not realizing what they do. Sometimes they become mean, mean spirited, argumentative, etc such as Gregory Boyington of the infamous VMF 214, aka Black Sheep Squadron.

That being said, when one is intoxicated, not resisting arrest is hard to do because the person has little control over their faculties, espically the higher functions. And as I said, at least the poice offier rendered medical asisistance to her which is protocol and kudos for the officer doing that part of his job.

But then again, you never been to Round rock, Texas, have you?

Spoken by a person who has not been there or done that.

Again, depending on the person depends how they handle their liquor. But in a majority of cases, those that are intoxicated are argumentative and the next day barely, if at all, remember what they actually did when they are drunk. I will give you Gregory "Pappy" Boyington as a prime example of his drinking exploits. He would fight you when he was durnk and not rememver one damn thing the next day. Is he lying? A liberal?

Not the same as 6th Street in Austin, Texas on a Friday or Saturday night in any week of the year.

That shovel you are using to dig yourself a hole. Considering how deep you look to be going with this wouldn't it be the course of wisdom to switch over to a backhoe?

Now that'll dig one impressive logic pit!

No wait! Keep giving the fellow more rope WSUwarrior, because it's funny as hell. I mean here you are, a professional LEO, doing this stuff for a living and here is an arm-chair wannabe expert telling you what's what about your own profession. Hilarious!

The video is linked in the article in the OP. I really do not see that she was resisting arrest. Just because she was not holding her hand behind her in the manner most convenient to the arresting officer does not mean that she was not cooperating. I think the cop was a dick in that regard, especially since he appears to have wrapped his arm around her neck and slung her to the pavement. Watching the video, however, I really do not see her striking her head. Looked like she had the wind knocked out of her when she landed on her chest to me. I don't condone what the officer did, but I cannot really condemn it either. It would be nice if they hired more people with patience, but that is a rare virtue in any profession these days.

So I guess that means every cop is a conservative and conservatives never get arrested. LOL. :roflol:

It has nothing to do with compassion, that was just going overboard.

So do you think she should have been shot. She didn't get off lightly, she was charged with Drunk and disorderly and had her faced smashed in the pavement.

The only holes that people are digging are those who cannot comprehend the posts they are reading.

Telling someone to not resist arrest is an axiom with the presumption that a person has full control of their faculties, including reading and listening comprehension. However, when one is drunk, that may not always happen. That odes not mean a person is entitled to resisting arrest. It just means that a person may not know they are resisting arrest.

Law enforcement as well as the military are VERY conservative in nature, that is why we are so great and efficient at our missions. We are one of the few government entities that actually runs well, probably because the feds dont get in the way very often. Ive never made the claim that conservatives never get arrested nor have I ever said anything that would hint at your bizarre implication.

I can see both sides. She apparently was a not cooperating. And, I agree that had she gotten behind the wheel she could have killed other people in addition to herself and child.

On the other hand, from the video alone, I didn't see the need to use that much force. She could have died from head trauma. Still could.
For that child to lose her mother over that incident due to excessive force would have been unforgivable.

All that said, I still insist that the greatest problem we have with policing in the country is not so much the police, but the failed system under which these unfortunate
policing incidents occur.....specifically that we still allow police agencies to use "Internal Affairs" committees or whatever they're called to help filter out these bad cops. It'd be like allowing every family in America to be allowed to determine for themselves if a member of their family was guilty or not after allegations of wrongdoing. It's insane. There NEEDS to be OUTSIDE involvement and intervention by authorities outside the "brotherhood".

It is no secret that Policing departments are a type of "brotherhood" where it is understood that you "have each other's back".
By allowing these brotherhoods to determine internally, without outside supervision and public scrutiny is asking for abuse.
And I think that is EXACTLY why there is so much police abuse.

For every case caught on video, there are 1000's just as bad that occurred with no evidence at all.

Eliminate Internal Affairs and have elected, trained and capable (knowledgeable) representatives from the PUBLIC determine when a office is stepping over the boundaries and then make decisions to fire or how to discipline police agents and you will see a MUCH improved law enforcement situation in America.....even though it is likely that every person in law enforcement will strongly disagree and say this would not help. Of course they feel that way.

We've tried the Internal affairs route for nearly 75 years now....let's try something different. There are simply too many of these incidents occurring nationwide.

DWI is bad enough, but DWI with a kid in the vehicle is irreprehensible. Yes, she deserved what she got, and more. The cop should rewarded for keeping this woman from getting behind the wheel again, and for probably saving her daughter's life. But as usual, liberals can't tell the hero's from bad guys.

Youre right, the officer should have waited until after this fine, mother-of-the-year, future POTUS sobered up before he arrested her drunk, child-endangering, stupid ass.

I am not saying that at all. I am saying that she may not have known she was resisting arrest because she was extremely intoxicated. That does not mean its excusing her behavior, but somehow you think that is what I am saying. So much for your reading comprehension skills LOL.

This is Texas. I seriously doubt CPS will get involved unless she has more than one DWI with the kid i nthe car, even in Williamson County.

BS, I served 8yrs in the military and I definitely wouldn't call most folks in the military conservative. Most military folks are moderate at best.

So in other words he should have just shot her on the spot.

i don't think it's irrelevant. Not only would the caring men outside of law enforcement not want his altho drunken mother, wife, daughter slammed so hard to the ground, it knocks her out... but there's cops also who wouldn't want that done to their loved one and they know that any able-bodied cop can restrain a drunken woman and get her in handcuffs w/o having to knock her out. And as I said, there's enuf fathers & husbands who have proven this can be done.......

What she did was stupid, irresponsible and just plain WRONG, but when the LEO saw the child was safe, why expose her to more trauma and fear for her mother by doing what he did when he didn't have to?

But there's also another side to this, which many are aware of and that is if that had been the drunken wife of a prominent figure head of the community, w/or w/o a child, she would have been handled as gently as possible....... that's just an order that cops have to follow.

And NO, I'm not a cop hater - I have a lot of respect for them. I've known quite a few and they're good people. 2 retired sheriffs are good friends and know I can count on them in need be. I've always believed that being a police officer, particularly for the good ones, is one of the most thankless jobs there is........

As usual a bunch of busybodies got a woman almost killed. Call 911 and the thug cops will either beat the crap out of the person or fill him or her full of hot lead. The woman clearly had her hands behind her back and the copwas either incompetent in handcuffing her or was just looking for an excuse to beat her up. The thug police chief should be fired.

The officer took the resisting subject to the ground, as I'm sure he's done hundreds of time in his time on the force, and she hit her head and got knocked out. You're upset because of this why? He didn't "slam her face into the ground" or "throw her head first onto the pavement," he clearly took her down with an arm bar. That means he grabbed her arm around the wrist and upper arm and used that leverage to force her to the ground. he obviously didn't intend to knock her out and was, I'm sure, surprised that he did. Her getting knocked out was an unintended consequence of the arm bar, and would never have happened had she not resisted arrest. There was absolutely no excessive force here.

They only want equality when it suits them. Otherwise the poor widdle woman got beat up by the big bad man. Sniff.

Seemed totally excessive though. But if any woman makes a stink, hey it's what you wanted. Equality is getting whooped like a man by a man. No more throwing the chick card.

He could have easily cuffed and stuffed this woman without slamming her face first into the pavement. He was just being a cocky cop and doing it because he knew legally he could get away with it.

I bet he wouldn't want one of his fellow officers to handle his mother or his sister in that manner, drunk or not.
