The OP needs to dial his intake of hallucinogenic drugs WAY back!

Paul McCartney is alive and well, and playing Fenway Park this summer. :D

In retrospect they were overrated, not bad (especially if you've listened to anything other than their singles), but overrated. There are other musicians out there with more real talent, the reason they are so worshiped is because they basically pioneered the contemporary rock n roll genre and are still influential even today - they may have invented it, but they didn't perfect it.

Just like the guy (Karl Benz) who built the first car - it may have been the first of it's kind, but that doesn't mean it's better than a Lamborghini just because it was the 'original'.

I think OP is just a parodist, most of his threads are either ridiculous conspiracy theories, or other obnoxious stuff such as how he got fired from his job for being 'too sexy' and distracting the female coworkers.

I dont think they can be claimed to have invented Rock & Roll, and a lot of their musical innovation came from being a position to exploit advances in recording techniques. But where the band excelled and have rarely been surpassed is in their lyrics and tone of the music they produced. They basically broke away from falling in/out of love, cars and not much else. Songs like Elenor Rigby spoke to things we all knew existed but really didn't think about. Or Helter Skelter, perhaps one of the angriest guitar rifts ever laid down, but the lyrics are about a carnival ride lol.

And sure their albums have fluff tracks (with the possible exception of Sgt Peppers) but generally when you bought one of their albums with say 10 songs, usually at least 8 are good, that's a better average than most bands have ever managed.

I don't agree. The reason why the Beatles are considered great and their music thrives even today is because they developed and grew --continuing to produce on the way. They never were stagnant. Their earlier originals don't sound anything like their later songs. But it all still sounds fresh. Their originality can't be matched by any other artists when you look at the huge repertoire of songs they created that are still enjoyed today. My daughter is a Beatle maniac (13 yrs) and pulled me back. I was a great fan in the mid 70's when I was a teen.

There are songs I like more...but none of the artists of those songs were able to match the Beatles quantity/quality output. And when Beatles went solo...they were still producing classics. Though I wish Lennon had left the housework to Ono and did more...... I loved his last album.

In 1962 David A. Noebel founded Summit Ministries, a Christian leadership training organization designed as an educational Christian ministry. He believes that countless Christian youth have fallen victim to the popular ideas of our modern world, and that most have adopted these ideas into their own worldview, while still others go on to renounce their Christian faith altogether. Summit views its role as a catalyst to enable youth to stand strong in their faith and defend truth, while having a positive influence on the society in which they live. He has directed the Summit Youth Ministries since 1964. The ministry grew in size considerably after being mentioned on James Dobson's radio show.

In 1965 he wrote a pamphlet, 'Communism, Hypnotism And The Beatles'. It was followed in 1966 by 'Rhythm, Riots, and Revolution', which added to the pseudo-"debate" about the presence of Communism in music, especially folk and folk-rock. He saw contemporary popular music as a Soviet plot to brainwash American youth. Unlike other religious critics of popular music, he backed up his analysis with references outside the Bible, using scholarly footnotes and quotations. His work was influential and widely adopted by later critics of rock music.

Whether or not they were government agents, they made some brilliant music. Very aesthetically pleasing, even to jazz and classical music crowds. Really pushed popular music into the art medium.

Another thing I never understood about the "Paul is Dead" theory, is that he supposedly died in 1966 before Revolver was recorded. If so, the "fake" Paul was an astonishingly good songwriter, in my opinion better than the original. They found a damn good replacement. Revolver, Sgt Pepper, The Beatles, Abbey Road, Let it Be - all brilliant albums with brilliant compositions by Paul. Most of his famous stuff is on those records.

Also, why would they kill Lennon in 1980, when he was mostly through his activism period from 1966 to 1972. Surely they'd have been better off killing him during his "Give Peace a Chance" phase than when his career was more-or-less over?

    In your honest opinion.

This rumor about The Beatles as the imperial agents made my ass laugh. They were psychedelic revolutionaries just like The Doors or Jimi.

The entire psychedelic gimmick was a Psy Op.

All those artists were contrived by the govt to shift our social behaviors into the Liberal Fascism we see today.
