No, I mean, I don't see how else you can interpret the fact that a white person cannot go to a black neighbourhood without being mugged but a black person can go in a white neighbourhood without any problem...

Another poster stated this. It is not what you stated. So you have detached yourself from any kind of logical progression. :confusion:

I do not know one white person with designer shoes. Can I go in to a all black neighborhood with a T-shirt, jeans, a baseball cap and holes in my sneakers? Nope. Besides most of those guys in the hood have better clothes than I. I can't afford what they buy, I have kids to raise.

In a recent New York Times editorial, entitled, "Ending the Slavery Blame-Game," Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates calls on the United States' first Black president to end the nation's sense of responsibility for the legacy of slavery.

Gates essentially absolves Americans of the guilt, shame and most importantly, financial responsibility for the horrific legacy of slavery in the Americas. How does he do this--by casting the blame where it belongs by indicting African elites. And their collaboration in the trade. People of African descent waged war against one another, captured enemies in battle, and enslaved their weaker and more vulnerable neighbors.

Black and white people in the United States should now "get over" slavery because this was not a racial thing but an economic thing. Since both Blacks and whites were culpable, the call for reparations is indeed meaningless and bereft of any moral weight.

"The problem with reparations," Gates proclaims, is "from whom they would be extracted." This is a dilemma since Africans were neither "ignorant or innocent," when it came to the slave trade.

. "Slavery was long ago, and Black Americans have come such a long way. So, we need to stop embracing 'victimhood,' get over it and move on." We need to stop complaining and 'end the blame game,' with regards to racism. After all, doesn't the election of Barack Obama prove anything in regards to the lack of racism amongst whites in today's America.....did not hundreds of thousands of whites vote vote for a black candidate to prove they were not racist...give them credit for being dedicated to proving America is not racist. Gates goes even further to suggest slavery, wasn't so exclusively racial after all. Many Whites were also enslaved during the colonial era and calling them 'Indentured Servants' was merely a way of not admitting they were slaves.

Today, millions of young Black men and women are caged, shackled and dehumanized by a prison system that is growing rapidly, privatizing and increasingly exploiting the labor of its inmates......this result of a huge black crime problem actually dwarfs the supposed inhumane plantation system....most incarcerated blacks would think being on a plantation much preferable to being incarcerated in our current penal institutions.

Hahah, true... well, it's your relative "statute" in society they hate, not your bank account.

    - - - Updated - - -

Now I found myself finally... Basically you do not believe that my analysis has any pertinence whatsoever in explaining the current hostilities of black communities toward white people? So then, I reiterate what I have stated in the first place: I would like to hear your "non post modernist communist full of intellectual integrity" analysis of the situation...

Agreed, but the reason there can be no "closure" is because there still IS racism and inequality, therefore, old grudges cannot be so easily forgotten. It's the same for feminism: yes, women are treated much better today then they were 100 years ago, but there are still blatant inequalities in treatment therefore, we still need feminism. Not the same as 100 years ago, but feminism nonetheless.

I think 99.99 percent of people are far too busy living their lives, trying to get ahead and pay the bills and create a future for themselves and their kids to be concerned whatsoever about undermining anything for black people. And if no one is paying black people any attention, then that is the same thing as not getting in their way to live whatever lives they feel like earning for themselves.

Schools? Who controls that? Democrats. Inner-city cops? Who controls them? Democrats. Unconcious underestimation? What does that even mean, first off? Can you define and then quantify that term?

Look at the picture you just posted, and ask yourself if ANY of those guys can walk into a job interview dressed like that and get hired. If that's what you mean by "underestimating", then there's nothing unconscious about it. I would consciously tell them to take a hike every single time. And until they learn that the vast majority of success is based on how you act, dress, and speak, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the color of your skin because there's no one who has time for that (*)(*)(*)(*), they will never get anywhere.

    Uhm, will you prove that?

Slaves were property. IT was written by slaveowners that hurting their property lowered productivity and it was better to treat the slaves well.

I would act white, do well in school, get a full ride at a great college and be guaranteed a job above those with better qualifications and faster promotions than an equivalent white guy.

Yes, you would be a Martin Luther King. But for every Martin Luther King, there are 1000 no-future/undereducated thugs. And that is simply because of context. You can predict the average income, the level of education and the life expectancy of people just by their postcode!!! Context makes everything. If you are born in a torn up neighbourhood, with low educated parents, your are statistically less likely to succeed in life. Period.

Yes, you can always point to those who succeeded and say that "its possible, so they should just try harder", but it's more like a lottery ticket than a question of will power.
That is why social policies and positive discrimination policies are so important.

No, I don't bother clicking links. Are you hoping I will construct your non-existent argument for you? The question was "Define racism and show there is racism." Are you incapable of defining the snarl word your "argument" is based on, and which it in fact entirely consists of? That's somewhat ridiculous.

There really are three very big reasons for the high rate of black failure(there are more but I think these are the biggest reasons) 1. scapegoating white racists as the reason for black failure(this allows the real problems and solutions to be avoided and to fester) 2. Low I.Q.'s--Study after study has demonstrated this. Now there is little that can be done about this at the present time....however the best way to deal with this is ignored because the powers that be insist that everyone is equal....the best possible solution to this reality of low i.q.'s is to forego a traditional academic educational program and to instead set up training programs to teach those not qualified for the academic programs, in a manner that will actually help them....such as ---skills, job skills..... auto mechanics, carpentry, metal workers, plumbers etc.etc. and to tie these 'shop classes' in with business owners and companies that will hire the graduates...such things as work ethics, grooming and personal cleanliness also needs to be emphasized as well as some sort of class on how to impress a possible employer. 3. The exceedingly high rate of fatherless black families needs to be addressed---the government should not be allowed to reward black females for having babies to begin with....the old traditional black spiritual culture needs to be revived...black ministers need to get more involved in the black community and teach and insist on basic morals....until a better cultural environment is produced....birth control should be taught and rewarded instead of vice versa. There needs to be a very strict program to enforce curfews for black teenagers....they should not be allowed to roam the streets at night....nor should they be allowed to cut school and roam the streets during the day....this program should be vigorously enforced and those in the enforcement program should be mainly black to avoid the appearance of racism.....in addition a crack-down on the inner cities gangs should be a priority...call this what it is...organized crime and place stiff penalties for involvement...aka once convicted of gang membership...there should be a plantation way out in the country where these former gang members have to work and work very hard and thus be forced to earn the right to return to the black community with the required job skills to support themselves.

I was probably poorer than any of those kids in that picture...

And I'm doing pretty damn well for myself.

Had no parents, raised by my grandma, now I work in a corporate office.

So what did I do differently then them? I didn't have kids. I stayed out of jail. I didn't go out to the club. I stayed home, studied, worked, and now I'm rewarded.

So really, I'd have loved to have one of their lives growing up. Maybe I'd have had a mother? Maybe even a father? That's be sweet.

    You throw out statistics...

But let me ask this simple question...

Why? What's stopping them from breaking the mold?

A lack of desire and determination.

I has less of a chance of being successful being raised in the poorest county in Kentucky. Which, I would guess, is borderline the poorest county in this country.

I made it? Why cant they? Cause I will work for it, and they won't. Simple as that.

You had the winning lottery ticket. Again, I repeat, yes, you made it, and a thousand others living in similar conditions in Kentucky didn't. Why? Probably because of some "luck" factor that set you apart from others, that gave you determination while others in a similar situation didn't. You believe that you actually deserve what you have, and that you have some kind of merit? Sorry to bust your bubble: a human being is nothing outside his context. Should you have been born to different parents, met different people, had different experiences, perhaps you would have no determination and you would lack desire.

Stop thinking that you deserve what you have. That is most dangerous.
