Do any of you RW historical revisionists actually BELIEVE that? I'm guessing that we'll get a chorus of yeses! You know, from the same batch who believe MLK would still be a Republican! Am i right kids? Oh yes, be sure to watch Ted's JFK imitation.. almost as good as his Winston Churchill! http://www.buzzfeed.com/meganapper/...ion-and-argues-hed-be-a-republican#.taj5O21w8
If he had not been assassinated, and lived up to the current era, there is no doubt he would be a loyal Democrat. If he time traveled from from 1963 and see what happened to the Democratic party all at once, then after he finished throwing up, he would immediately change his registration to Republican.
Ted Cruz doesn't actually believe that. He doesn't actually believe a lot of things he says. The man is a joke.
BOOM.. and there's Lil' Mike right on schedule! Listen, if you feel compelled to claim MLK would still be a Republican .. i'll give you a reluctant pass. But please don't attempt to co-op JFK! He spins in his grave over the Ted Cruz's in today's R Party. http://jfkfacts.org/assassination/was-jfk-a-conservative/
I didn't say anything about MLK, but if I had, I certainly wouldn't have claimed he would be a Republican today. But you asked a theoretical and unknowable question, and I gave you my best guess.
Ted Cruz has forgotten more from the Constitution then all of today's Democratic party has ever learned from it.
Maybe, but considering Texas politics.. he can probably stay there as long as he likes. But eventually he'll determine there's lot more money to be made at Fox News or as the new leader of The American Family Association or Family Research Council. - - - Updated - - - Interesting statement.. can you expand on that? Thanks!
Didn't Kennedy cut taxes? Didn't he say 'ask not what your country can do for you....'? List me some current democrats that believe either of those things?
JFK was a mixture of liberal and conservatives ideas. He wouldn't fit into either party today. The parties have changed too much. Trying to put presidents of the past, especially those who were president's 50 years or more ago into a political of today is folly and does not take into consideration how much each party has changed, how retaliative close the two parties ideologies were back in the late 40's through the mid 60's. Neither Eisenhower or JFK would recognize their parties today, what they have become. Probably each would be revolted.
Well, let's look at the facts. JFK was a member of the NRA, pro-life and cut both corporate and personal income taxes. And one of his famous sayings was..."ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." So, yes he would be a Republican given today's standards.
Serious question: have you ever even heard of the New Frontier? Had JFK lived for many decades, he would have been more or less where Ted Kennedy was when he died (Ted Kennedy voted for the tax cuts in 1964--was he some model of modern conservatism?). The reality is that he was to the left of most of the modern Democratic party. The Kennedy brand--represented by Teddy--gradually became the left flank of the party as the party drifted rightward over the decades. If JFK were to jump through time to the present day (as another poster suggested above) without evolving with the times, he'd probably be voting for Bernie Sanders.
1960s democrat = ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. Todays liberal = ask not what you can do for your country but how much you can rape your country and violate its laws while doing it.
Sounds pretty modern day Republican to me. This speech would be complete anathema to today's Democrat Party, who are currently excited over the fact that an avowed socialist is running for President.
Radio and Television Report to the American People on the State of the National Economy. August 13, 1962 A speech calling for investment tax credits, public works spending, extension of unemployment benefits, new trade deals, and more investments in higher education "is anathema to today's Democrat [sic] Party"? Odd, to me it sounds like a Barack Obama speech.
Pretty much. Show me someone in the Democrat Party (you can leave the [sic] out, by the way. I spelled it that way intentionally) that is talking about raising taxes in order to increase revenue to the Government? Doing such a thing in that party today would probably result in expulsion.
JFK was for tax cuts to stimulate and drive the economy and he was a real hawk when it came to dealing with our existential enemies (the Soviet Union then, the jihadists now). Sounds like a good republican to me. He believed in personal responsibility and government that actually could get things accomplished. Don't let the trolls tell you differently....yesterday's democrats in many cases would be today's republicans.
The only thing jfk did, that's similar to being a Republican, was responsibly reducing taxes on the so-called rich. Much to the chagrin of the LW historical revisionists the economy finally improved. Cutting the tax rate on the richest created a booming economy. Hey, it always does.
Obama has proposed cutting the corporate rate and ending some deductions (like jfk did). Guess he's a republican now too? Now a top rate of 65% makes you a republican? I'll vote for the republican who proposes that!
