I have an FFL, a CCW in GA and in NY, and I am totally against what this guy did. Open or concealed carry should not be allowed on the property of any airport in USA. The only people with weapons should be the people transporting them on a flight and should be locked as per TSA regs. This could have been another LAX 2002 ticket counter assault.

Exactly what point was he proving? That airport passengers would not be alarmed? That he would get publicity? That he and his wife did not have anything better to do?

Yeah look at these dangerous open carriers at the airport. You're right, they do kinda look like Egyptians ready to shoot up the El Al ticket counter. They even have vicious dogs with big, pointy teeth! They look ready to pounce on the lady in green.

Too many people are waaayyyu too scared when they see a gun. More people should open carry everyday. Maybe then these gun-o-phobes wouldn't freak out at the sight of a water pistol.

If you saw a lone man by himself start talking to your child in a playground, would you pay him no mind?

    You haven't answered the question.

If you think it proves nothing and apple to oranges, then just humor me:

1.) Would it put you on guard?
    2.) Why?

I am an FFL as well, why should someone be barred self defense in an airport? Granted, open carry is retarded, but since when did the last legal CCW guy hijack a plane?

You are basing this on emotion and not facts.

If you saw a lone woman talking to your child, would you pay no attention? Sounds like pedophobia has you on edge at if every male who says anything to any child has a felony on their mind.

[IMG] Oh, please. The niggling differences are nothing but distractions from the point of the post. It changes nothing if you properly identify the make, model, caliber and number of rounds in the drum or call it a big, black frikkin' gun slung across some weird looking guy's shoulder.

No claim of nobility has been made. Rather it is being pointed out that the action in question was completely legal. The fact that there are those who do not like it is meaningless. In simpler terms, the law is the law. If you do not like it, then change the law.

There is a legal difference between a semi-automatic rifle, and a true assault rifle. The simple fact that you, like many others, use incorrect terminology, shows a lack of respect for not only facts, but also factual discussion. It is intellectual dishonesty, no different from proclaiming that all blacks are criminals, and that some simply have not been caught yet.

If he were black, I think he'd probably be taken out by the police. If he had a turban, I think he'd definitely be taken out by the police.

Well, some rule prohibiting weapons in the airport, isnt going to be a concern of someone who has come to mow down 45 people. The weapons charge would be a minimal inconvenience in comparison to the 25 murder charges. And someone like the guy pictured could probably stop him at 2 or 3 murders.

Your objection to getting your facts straight when debating others has been noted.

So put this guy in the same group as the WBC, with the parameters being that his actions were taking in the same fashion with the knowledge and direct intent to cause distress for his own purpose.

I'm in no way anti-gun, in the same way I am in no way anti-free speech.

But (*)(*)(*)(*) me cumming if it don't blow my lid when the WBC protests a soldiers funeral or when some dip(*)(*)(*)(*) wants to make a statement with a gun in an airport as me and my family are collecting our bags. I don't need that (*)(*)(*)(*), nor does anyone else.

Another fact missed. The standard AR-15 is chambered in 5.56 NATO. In most States, it is considered too small for deer, so no, it isn't a "deer rifle".

Why hasn't anyone suggested that this guy was trying to PROTEST the new "guns everywhere" law in GA?

    Very doubtful:

He also participates in Overpasses For America, whose members hold signs over expressways. “There are all different kinds of signs,” Cooley said, “like ‘Abolish the IRS,’ ‘Obama’s lying,’ you know, ‘Obama needs to be arrested.’”

    And, for what it's worth:

Jim Cooley says he carried his AR-15 rifle, with a 100-round drum, at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as he dropped off a family member.

    There. Now is everybody happy?

So you claim not to be against firearms ownership, but you still object to seeing someone carrying a firearm in a public location, and in a legal manner.

    - - - Updated - - -

Whether they are or not, the unsecured portions are subject to the law of the state of Georgia. For all intents and purposes, those portions are no different from public buildings in this respect.
