The other 300 million guns are owned by private citizens. ATF and FBI investigations have found that the primary source of weapons used in crimes are straw purchases and unscrupulous licensed dealers. Your suggestion that reducing the primary supply would have no impact is illogical.

Europe for the most part disarmed in the 40's. The fascists took the weapons away from everyone and in the UK they collected the weapons for the home defense units after Dunkirk. We have 300 million plus weapons in this country. That is a BIG difference and to add to that a strong culture of independent action that would lead to millions defying any law to remove their weapons. Imagine if the government tomorrow said everyone HAS to turn in their weapons. All of a sudden you would have millions of law abiding citizens becoming criminals. It would be chaos. Because we remember what happened in Europe to the unarmed populaces I am sorry but we will never be put into the same position that the jews, gypsys, and homosexuls were put in by Hitler. Some do learn from the past and do not wish to be victims.

Every one of the above proposals can be easily subverted and defeated with less than five minutes worth of effort. One who illegally sells a firearm to a prohibited individual would simply have to file a false report of theft to cover their tracks. If the firearm is ever found, it will come down to the word of the last known owner who filed the report, against the word of someone with a criminal record.

I'll never understand how people can complain about how citizens are murdered by the government due to their skin tone in one breath, and then in the next, call for the removal of arms from citizens while allowing the government to have a monopoly on them. Seems like a sadistic death wish to me.

I completely and totally agree.

CCW is the way to go. Anything else without a direct purpose(you're going hunting, you're going to a gun show, you're taking your weapon to a gun shop, etc) is just idiotic flaunting of a weapon whose only real purpose is to maim or kill. Guns should be treated with reverence and respect, not as a means to bolster your social self esteem and get attention.
