Good point. Remember Charlie Hebdo, where the police showed up on bicycles without guns, and got blown away? They tried that (*)(*)(*)(*) in TX, a pro 2nd Amendment state, and we all saw the difference.

EDIT: Just read the article. The police dragged their feet in giving her a permit, instead of doing it within 30 days as the law requires, and apparently this is happens a lot. So when her ex showed up he killed her, totally ignoring the restraining order, and later killed himself with a self inflicted gunshot wound.

So while she was trying to jump through all the hoops to legally get a gun for protection, somehow this criminal POS managed to get one easily.

You know, it's almost like criminals can get guns fairly easily, despite gun control laws. I'm starting to think these damned criminals just don't obey the law!

bull(*)(*)(*)(*), you have no evidence that if she had a gun, it would have saved her.

Could you step out of your partisan bubble long enough to at least acknowledge it would have greatly increased her odds?

That would be like you drowning in the ocean, and I'm standing on a boat and you ask me to toss you a life jacket, and I refuse, then after you drown I saw, "BS, there's no evidence that if he had a life jacket, it would have saved him".

    Absolutely correct.
Just for my 2, I love guns but there is no guarantee that one would have saved her life; in cases like this where the victim knew the person, she may not have had time to retrieve the gun from where it was safely kept. Generally, it will increase the chances of saving your life as a defense tool.

Ya I am progun owner but your title is totally off base. No one knows if it would have helped her or not. YOu should not try and resort to these kinds of claims it makes you look like the victim disarmament folks. Support our position with facts not hysteria.

Michael Eitel. That was the name you all are looking for. Not a police chief who did not get through the paperwork in a timely fashion, not 'the left'. Michael Eitel killed this woman.

The police chief is not solely responsible for a cumbersome process the state legislature wrote into statute. The police chief is not solely responsible for the budgetary woes he inherents, nor the bureaucratic red tape that delays the process. Michael Eitel murdered this woman.

LOL, exactly. Such is the mantra of the left, Blame the Victim. I'm liberal on a fair amount of issues, but even I can't stand this aspect of liberalism.

    Let's examine this again:

It's not the police dept's fault they never got around to giving her a permit.
It's not the guys fault who actually stabbed her to death.

Nope, it's the victims fault for not applying for the permit sooner. I suppose it's also her fault for not learning some form of martial arts so she could have done a front flip over the head of her ex and then run away.

You can't prove that it wouldn't save her life. See how that works?
With a sidearm, she'd at least have a chance. Without one, no chance. Simple logic.
You have been effectively demoralized. You cannot differentiate the truth from the false.

This is exactly correct and every pro-Second Amendment member of this board should agree with it.

We make the argument that guns don't kill people, people do. I firmly believe that and still believe it in this instance.

Is it possible that if the woman had a firearm it could have saved her life? Absolutely.

While I don't think blaming her for not applying for a permit sooner is rational, neither is blaming the police chief, who is simply obeying the law(unless someone has evidence he was intentionally delaying the application process).

While I think she had the constitutional right to simply buy a firearm without the delay of applying for a permit and that the process was a contributor to the circumstances of her death, Michael Eitel and nothing but Michael Eitel is responsible for killing her.

Yeah, let's not even give her a fighting chance. Dumb (*)(*)(*)(*) probably deserved it anyway. Last time she ever burns the chicken.

No evidence? How about common sense, logic and reality? Oh gee...what was I thinking. You probably don't 'do' any of those things.

    Nevermind.

Are you seriously blaming the victim? What color is the sky in your world?

What she should have done was told the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) gun grabbers in her state to go (*)(*)(*)(*) themselves and purchased a Roscoe from her local drug dealer like her piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) wife-beating, knuckle-dragging thug of an ex-boyfriend probably did. Oh but then she'd be breaking the law.

All other rights are worthless if you don't acknowledge the right of self-preservation.

Why wasn't the gun permit issued in a timely manner? If it had been, she would have HAD the gun in time.

If you know someone is out to get you, you need to learn how to use a gun and carry it. the cops will only be there to take pictures of the bullet holes in your body otherwise. You're right when someone gets the drop on you, you're at a huge disadvantage.

Shame on New Jersey for putting crime victims at such a disadvantage. Well, shame on New Jersey just because it's New Jersey, but still...

Wait. You're not... gulp... HOLDING AN INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS ARE YOU????? You're so kicked off the liberal bowling team!

She's also responsible for the ex-boyfriend's death. If that dumb (*)(*)(*)(*) hadn't burned the chicken, the poor boyfriend never would have been enraged to the point of going out to get a gun to shoot her and then himself. So she's responsible for TWO deaths. Too bad New Jersey doesn't have the retroactive death penalty. They could have just executed her right after she was born, thus saving this poor man's life. No way she could have burned the chicken then...

The police chief had two months and he didn't do jack (*)(*)(*)(*). Even if she got her gun permit, New Jersey law doesn't allow concealed carry, so she would probably be in jail right now.
