Albanians killed Serbs for organs! All this is supervised by the United States. United States carry heroin from Afghanistan to Kosovo. Albanians sold it in EU. This no one will investigate ever. Because NATO is bandits, terrorists, murderers.

NATO killed millions of people over the last 15 years. Illegal torture in secret prisons. Putin will judge bandits of NATO.

Could the shia militias slaughtering sunnis and attacking US troops as per iran's wishes, along with the rise of an intolerant, oppressive, non-inclusive shia regime AFTER the US troops departed have anything to do with it? Nah, couldn't be...

Any chance the mods can put an end to this childishness? Posting crud like this not only dumbs the thread down, but serves little purpose other than trolling.

How's that? Assad has killed 1,000 times more people, and is responsible for most of the physical damage to the country's infrastructure. The ISIS fighters have neither helicopters nor planes to drop the massive bombs that the regime has been using on civilian neighborhoods for years. And do I need to again mention the regime-driven massacres at Baniyas, Houla and elsewhere?

    Thank you for the reply.
    Now, the question is -

How Do You Propose "The Arab" be prepared for democracy?
Obviously, instant democracy is not going to work for reasons you express above.

Sunni Iraqis were squeezed out ..... they turned on the Maliki government which excluded them... and many had been trained as Iraqi military. It seems to me that they have been joined by some al Qaeda fighters and some renegades from Eastern Libya.. No question that its a horrific mess.

Unsubstantiated gibberish. Regardless ... Good that Assad is killing Islamic Extremists. I wish he was killing as many as you claim.

Were you expecting a tear ?

Ludicrous nonsense. Assad was under fire from the US for years, including threats to his regime for allowing sunni insurgents to operate inside syrian borders. There was an incident where US troops entered syria when the terrorists tried to run across the border and hide.

Second, syemour hersh is an idiot who has claimed (and been wrong) about five times in the last few years that an attack on iran by the US was imminent - but never happened as we all know. His credibility left the train station a long time ago.

Last, as my links earlier in the thread showed, the uprising was an internal effort to overthrow a 40 year family dynasty; one that had oppressed and murdered the 85% sunnis under the minority alawite rule. Amazing how the laughable conspiracy theorists claim every uprising was "manufactured by the West" - but but if the people are trying to overthrow a leader friendly to the West, then its totally legit and 100% indigenous. Pathetic.

Riiiiiight, because dropping barrel bombs on whole neighborhoods is not a war crime, got it, yeah....thanks for sharing...

And the missile strikes assad conducted on the colleges and apartment buildings were solely "targeting ISIS," yeah, thanks for informing us.

Do you have the expectation that everyone's mideast knowledge is an minscule as yours?

There is no any country in the world living under a dictatorship and prepared for democracy. all revolutions in the history needed many years after it to reach their aims.

To me, it was either Assad or some jihadi group. That's why I never wanted to get involved in Syria, since no matter who won there, they would be bad guys as far as the US is concerned.

    Not The American Revolution.
Peoples has an idea of protecting their stuff and respecting other peoples' stuff.
No dictator required. The people were ready. Compare that to the French or Russians.
Somehow, Arabs need to be "trained" for democracy or their will be so much blood the last months will seem like an
appetizer, if you like blood that is.

Do you remember when Assad's father slaughtered thousands in Hama back in the 1980s?

Well we're involved. We're sort of bombing ISIS and we've got almost 60 "moderate" rebels trained. Watch out Syria, here comes the US!

Yes, he pounded the city with artillery and killed about 20,000 people ( not sure about the number, there has been quite a range reported). So....I don't see what that has to do with my comment.

Well, you did have a chance to do something dramatic.... Nevertheless, it'll be interesting to see what America's next move will be, considering the latest actions by Russia. Yet another reason to be involved.

Well I have no idea what the US is going to do. I guess that depends on President Valerie Jarrett.

I am not the one that claimed that ISIS was created by Iran. Talk about minuscule mideast knowledge.

Further - you creating straw men does not amount to much.

    Get a valid argument.
